A bit disappointed!

Maybe because it was the end of the season and the site team were looking forward to the end of their year on site, but there was a distinct impression of " fedupness" about the site. Overall there was asense that the site needed a good sprucing up and reinvigorating as overall there was a feeling of slight shabiness and needing some TLC. It maybe that having been at the Burford Club site the weekend before had tarnished our outlook but never the less we felt that this site needed "waking up abit" to take advantage of the local environment and to attract members to this part of the world. We recognise that this is very much our personal view but we are sure that more could be made of this site.

Pleasantly Surprised!

Pleasantly surprised by this site.  We tend to find the club sites can be a bit different, staff miserable and other campers not wanting to make eye contact or say hello, but this site was completely different.  Staff were lovely and everyone was talking on the site and ever so friendly, so maybe we've just been unlucky in the past!  Lovely corner pitch, near the facilities, but not the view.  View sites are limited and the site was full so even though we got there early, we weren't one of the lucky ones!  Watch out for the cleaning of the facilities as this caught us out a couple of times! Local area was lovely.  Nice walk to West Kirby and a dog friendly bar called Kirby Tap was very welcoming.  Thurstaston Hill provides some lovely country walks and views across both estuaries.   We were there for a week, and even though not high season, the chippy still came one night and the site was very busy, but no queues for the facilities at any point, which was good.  Although we did see some motorhomes queuing for the service point one morning! Play area for the little ones looked very tempting.....oh to be a child again! Would we go back?  Yes, we were visiting friends and it more than met our needs, so yes, when we visit them again, we will be back!

Near perfect site

Probably our favourite site on the network. Great location, good facilities and excellent helpful wardens. Love the area which has significantly improved in recent years with New Brighton undergoing a transformation and you must not miss the "Black Pearl". The extensive free parking on the sea fronts at West Kirby, Hoylake & New Brighton is an added bonus in 2015.

Autumn Break

Great location. Really enjoyed being right next to the Wirral Way for walks and cycle rides. Loved the views over the Dee Estuary to Wales. Lots of wild life. Definitely want to visit again. Helpful and friendly wardens.

Lovely weekend retreat!

Stayed here for a weekend at the end of September  and loved it! We stayed at the far end, away from the park, the views were lovely! The site was kept clean and tidy and was fairly peaceful. The on site shop had the essentials like milk and bread and the staff were all friendly. The beach was just a few minutes walk away and the walks along the estuary were brilliant! We have a dog and he loved it! The sunset was just spectacular! Will definitely stay again for more adventures!

What a Difference!

Some twenty years ago since we visited and the site has changed, lots of nice hardstandings.  The site was full on our visit at the end of September with the central area around the Loo Block extremely busy with lots of children, dogs, BBQs and extra cars.  So pleased we found another area that was so much quieter.  There are only a few pitches that have views over the estuary and are in high demand.  The corner gate down to the beach is no longer there, it was down on the beach due to landslip!  The Loo Block was kept really clean by the wardens but I'm not sure how club members can make such a mess, not flush toilets or wipe out showers, I put that down to children.  Best to get in there just after they've been cleaned if it's a full site!

Another Excellent Break

Recently had a 5 night break at this well kept site and were pleased we chose it. Ideal for people wanting to visit both Chester and Liverpool or for walking/cycling. We were fortunate to find a pitch with a view over the estuary which was a bonus. The fish and chip van which visits on a Thursday produced excellent fare at a reasonable price, some of the best fish and chips I have had in years! Lots of wildlife to be seen on and around the site particularly fun to watch were the rabbits and squirrels around the caravans. The one area I have marked down is facilities which, although kept spotlessly clean, are looking a little tired.  One point I would also like to make to the dog owner who thought it was appropriate to bath his dog in one of the washing up sinks is, unless it is a pot dog I don't think so!

Wirral CC

Excellent location, and very quiet. Weekends can be busy. WiFi ok, but not good. As the site is between two estuaries it can be very windy at times. Excellent for cyclists. Commanding views over the Dee estuary. easy walk into West Kirby, and 15 minutes by bike. One hour from home, and have been there many times and will go again.

local short break away

I visited here to assist a friend who has just become a caravanner, it was an ideal location to show her how everything works.

first visit

This was our first visit and we were not disappointed with the site. Good pitches, good weather excellent walks for the dogs. We stayed for 8 nights so were lucky to catch the fish and chip on both Thursdays and they were excellent. We will be back
