Enjpyable visit to the Wirral

This is our second visit to the site. It was great to return and again we loved the peace and serenity. The views are stunning and the facilities good. Whilst we could not get a coastal view it was great observing the birds and squirrels. We enjoyed local walks and can recommend the local café at the local Visitors Centre, approx. half a mile from the site. We also managed a very enjoyable walk to Heswall along the disused railway line but found this to be approx a 5 mile walk with a stiff climb through lower Heswall, mid Heswall until you reach the main village. We will certainly make a return visit to this site. On our way home called at New Brighton. This is amazing following recent redevelopments and plenty of cafes and restaurants.

Perfect Weather!

This is the second time that we have stayed at this site within a month and gradually the wardens are making improvements but the Caravan Club needs to invest in new land drains, it is easy to spot the dips in the grass where the land drains have failed, the grass remains waterlogged. My husband felt very sorry for one of the wardens as one of the guests was being exceptionally rude, complaining and this caused obvious distress. These reviews often comment on how rude the wardens had been but on this occasion the tables were turned & at no time did the warden deserve this treatment. The weather was perfect, our neighbours good company and it was with relief that the complaining guest and her partner refused to speak to any of their fellow caravaners!

Wonderful Wirral

This is our second visit to this site. We had a most enjoyable stay. The position of the site is great for those who enjoy peace and solitude. The bird life is amazing and spotted a Jay a bullfinch and greenfinch. The local cafe at the visitors centre is very good and is only 10 minutes walk from the site. Beware if you attempt the walk to Heswall on the Wirral Way as it is a tough climb from the footpath to the village. We will most certainly be back

First visit and not the last

Visited site for the first time in the week after Easter. It had obviously been very wet over Easter and the site obviously wasn't at its best with units having left tyre ruts here and there. This said really well located and some great walks very from the site for the family and dog. The site could do with at least one more chemical disposal point as there is only one. Will definitely be back as still lots to explore.

Our first visit

This is a great little site, well placed to access the cultural delights of Liverpool as well as the many interesting and varied attractions of the Wirral peninsula.  Liverpool is accessible by train from West Kirby or more easily from Hoylake where there is a free park and ride car park. Cost is under £5 return. Or we took the ferry from Seacombe (free parking) and took a circular tour seeing the U-boat museum as well as stopping in Liverpool.  From the site is a nice walk to the beach where you can easily view the cliff erosion affecting the club site. One day the site road will be taken, it is just a matter of time particularly if nothing is done to protect the cliff.   It is a long time since we have seen a 1980s loo block but here is one which has changed little since it was installed.  It is small, and there are occasional waits for the showers. It is about time the club invested some of our membership fees on this loo block. Following our wet winter the grass was completely sodden and not really possible to walk across without causing damage. It is a pity several members did not have the manoeuvring skills to enable them to keep their units off the grass in such conditions leaving many deep water-filled ruts.  The site is quiet (away from the popular children's play facilities) and many birds can be seen and heard. There is some noise from aircraft leaving John Lennon airport. The views across the Dee estuary are fantastic especially at night when the lights are beautiful.  Do buy the croissants from the wardens office, they are some of the best we have tasted outside France!  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend the site. It is a great base and it is also nice to just sit and 'be'.

Grandma

We took 2 grandchildren for a short breakEaster The site had a good playground for children but found at night some older children (teenagers) had to be asked to be quiet. They were immediately. Good site to go to Birkenhead, Wallasey , the beach and the park. Facilities excellent

Thomason Holiday

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the site. The staff were very helpful and friendly and some of the views from certain pitches were breath taking. There were plenty of things to do and see with excellent cycle routes and walks right on the doorstep. The wirral is a beautiful place to visit along with Liverpool city centre and we will be coming back to visit in the near future.

Great Weekend

We had a great weekend in at the beginning of April. Superb views, plenty of walks, visit to a very friendly Site Club and the facilities were good. The weather wasn't good and the grassed area was very wet but we were informed at Reception not to go onto the grass. This didn't dampen our spirits. We will return in the future.

Dissapointing

Arrived and abruptly informed by a very cheerful( not) female warden not to go anywhere near the grass. Site very wet and looks poorly drained and poorly maintained . Toilet block dark and very dated. Only 1 toilet disposal point on site adjacent to shower block this site needs major investment by CC as its location justifies it . Will not return to site without major revamp .
