Needs a refresh

Again a good 6 night stay here but it seems the CC is becoming complacent about the site. There is still only 1 CP which with the extra hard standings means a long trek to empty the loo from these pitches. There is still no 'no through' road sign on the furthest road that ends in pitch 49 so being at the end of that row we had several walkers, cars & even caravans driving up & then upset that there was no way out but to reverse their tracks. The replacement information room was still not in operation so little info. was available after 9 - 5 when most people are out visiting, away from the site. The problems of the noise of boy racers heading down to the sailing club are worsening & of course fish & chips night is Thursday when the site is full Friday/Saturday. Does this all sound like a lack of attention to detail ? Then you're right!!! Come on CC get this site to the excellence it deserves!!

advice on "how to find us"

Heswall is a narrow nightmare to get through, stay on motorway to junction 3 and follow sat nav to site.

Lovely site

Our first visit but definitely not our last. We found the wardens to be very friendly and helpful, had many chats to them. We thought the site was lovely a little tired but that is down to the CC not the wardens it was spotlessly clean. Find it hard to believe the complaint about miserable wardens or that they were given a barrier key without first finding a pitch. Love the idea of the new information shed and the clever artistic work to pretty it up, very clever. We enjoyed watching the squirrels stealing our coconut birdfeeder, but were even more amused when the empty shell arrived back next day for a refill.Saw a woodpecker and lots of other pretty finches too. Great views over to Wales and lovely atmosphere to the whole site. We will be back and thankyou to the hard working wardens for making it a pleasant stay

Fabulous weekend at the Wirral

What a lovely site this is on The Wirral, we had no idea what to expect as we haven't been to this area before but we will return for sure, the views over the Estuary are stunning, bike ride from the site to West Kirby along the disused railway line is a must, we were there with 2 children 14 & 7 and they loved the site, so much so we booked an extra night! Really nice pub nearby called The Anchor Inn which had live music on Sunday teatime, great atmosphere. The site has a really decent play park and very clean facilities, my 7 year old said going to the showers were one of her favourite bits of the trip! Lovely trip into Liverpool and a look round the Museum, which was free and well worth a look, lovely architecture and Albert Docks great too. We initially booked as we were attending Anfield to see Newcastle play and it is a good base for that too, all in all a fab weekend and we will be back!

Another Gem

Our weekends away have to start after work on Fridays as I'm sure many do, the 8pm check ins were one of the reasons we joined the CC. We got to site at approx 7.15 due to the usual Friday traffic and we're promptly greeted with a less than friendly face. The warden who greeted us didn't seem at all pleased to see us and hurriedly looked at my card gave me a barrier key and pretty much left us to it and disappeared. We found ourselves a pitch and from then on had a wonderful time, the site is great and everyone (apart from the warden) seemed really friendly, There is a very nice"feel" to this little site.. To be greeted with a smiley face as we were at Blackshaw Moor CC this weekend makes so much difference ??

A brilliant place for walkers and cyclists

Our second stay at West Wirral has confirmed our view that this is a great site. Friendly, helpful wardens, good pitch layout, terrific views for those lucky enough to get the cliff-top pitches and the proximity of the West Wirral Trail is great. BUT the downside is that it is a long walk if you are not a cyclist or do not wish to use your motorhome/car off site. AND the nearest bus service  (hourly)  is unreliable, as we found when it failed to appear and we had an extra three miles to walk to a connection.  But that is hardly the Club's fault. Just be warned!  DO visit all the many attractive locations in reach. Fabulous cream teas in Hoylake and the Marine Lake at West Kirby is spectacular. And don't forget Birkenhead Park on which the Big Apple's Central Park is modelled.  Just a great area in which to stay.

Enjpyable visit to the Wirral

This is our second visit to the site. It was great to return and again we loved the peace and serenity. The views are stunning and the facilities good. Whilst we could not get a coastal view it was great observing the birds and squirrels. We enjoyed local walks and can recommend the local café at the local Visitors Centre, approx. half a mile from the site. We also managed a very enjoyable walk to Heswall along the disused railway line but found this to be approx a 5 mile walk with a stiff climb through lower Heswall, mid Heswall until you reach the main village. We will certainly make a return visit to this site. On our way home called at New Brighton. This is amazing following recent redevelopments and plenty of cafes and restaurants.

Perfect Weather!

This is the second time that we have stayed at this site within a month and gradually the wardens are making improvements but the Caravan Club needs to invest in new land drains, it is easy to spot the dips in the grass where the land drains have failed, the grass remains waterlogged. My husband felt very sorry for one of the wardens as one of the guests was being exceptionally rude, complaining and this caused obvious distress. These reviews often comment on how rude the wardens had been but on this occasion the tables were turned & at no time did the warden deserve this treatment. The weather was perfect, our neighbours good company and it was with relief that the complaining guest and her partner refused to speak to any of their fellow caravaners!

Wonderful Wirral

This is our second visit to this site. We had a most enjoyable stay. The position of the site is great for those who enjoy peace and solitude. The bird life is amazing and spotted a Jay a bullfinch and greenfinch. The local cafe at the visitors centre is very good and is only 10 minutes walk from the site. Beware if you attempt the walk to Heswall on the Wirral Way as it is a tough climb from the footpath to the village. We will most certainly be back
