Relaxing stay

We stayed here for a weekend in early May. The location was fantastic for us as we like to cycle and walk, with views of the river Dee ( or the estuary). the site was managed excellently. We walked to West Kirby and onto Hoylake with our dogs, and also into the wirral country park which offers great circular walks. We will be returning to complete the 38 mile circular cycle in the very near future.

A lovely site in a wonderful area

Our first visit to this site and while we like to visit new places, this is a site we'd both be happy to return to, next time with our bikes. Sally & Peter Staniland checked us in on arrival and were helpful and efficient; they set a friendly tone and we felt very welcome for our 9 night stay. We were lucky enough to find ourselves on probably the best pitch on the site (17) with the most fabulous view over the estuary. It was calming to just gaze over the water to the Welsh mountains. Such scenery! The facilities are clean (if only a little dated) and they and the site are diligently managed - as I expect with CC sites. No disappointments there! Location is wonderful for a rural and peaceful retreat. Listening to the birdsong and watching the rabbits playing across from our pitch was a joy. Walking and cycling from the site could not be easier and the trails go through some wonderful countryside and lovely villages along the Dee estuary. Flissys coffee shop is a ten minute walk from the site and does good cafe food and coffee. We were so pleasantly surprised with this site and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I'd say it's a jewel in the CC network!

Best site ever for dog walking with a mobility scooter!

The only site I've stayed on thus far with adjacent dog walking which is also suitable for a mobility scooter.. the holy grail!! Staff very friendly and wardens couldn't do enough to help! Sorted me with a disabled friendly location close to disabled ablutions facilities (which were in themselves very warm and pleasant) I WILL be back (already booked for May!)

Nice Autumn Break

We stayed here for 3 nights the last week in October. The site is in a lovely location although the signage could be better to locate it, you need to go past the adjacent static caravan site along the access road pretty much to the end. Beware of the speed bumps as these aren't marked. The pitches are all nice and tidy but the access roads could do with a bit of TLC. Toilet blocks all clean and tidy and whilst could do with an update were fine. Site is 20 mins to Cheshire Oaks and 25 mins to Liverpool. Only shame is site was closing for the season on 5 November and we wanted to re-book for end of December. Will definitely be returning.

We will be back

Not long back from a four night stay at the site. Very convenient for getting into Liverpool, drive or cycle to West Kirby Station, or for motorhome parking, Hoylake Station. The site is in a great quiet location overlooking the Dee Estuary. Plenty of walking and cycling along the Wirral way which is next to the site entrance and it is an easy 15 minute walk to the beach an/or country park for wildlife and photography. The site facilities are neat and tidy, everything works and is well maintained, the wardens are helpful & friendly. Good motorhome service point too. Large supermarket in West Kirby for supplies and the cafe next to the country park is very good. We went to Liverpool, and Port Sunlight, but we will be going back with bikes for the country park.

Half term

We had a lovely time here during our half term, the kids loved the playground and the fact that we were so close to the beach, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Location is great for heading into Liverpool with a short drive to West Kirby for the train to catch the ferry. Lots to do in Liverpool and the Albert Docks are great fun. We found lots to do on the Wirral and headed up to New Brighton for crazy golf and an hour on the penny arcades, Port Sunlight was a great place to while away an hour or so as well. Lots of walking opportunities in the country park and running around on the beach was perfect after a long drive. Very easy to find and as you can tell we enjoyed ourselves.

Sunny autumn days with fab views

What a fab site - this was our first visit & wont be our last! Easy to find but watch out for the unmarked humps along the approach road past the static site. Lovely welcome from the smiling warden who was most helpful at all times. You can order daily papers at reception. Quite a few hardstanding pitches to choose from but none over the estuary. We picked one up a dead end alley so nice & quiet with no passing traffic. As usual with CAMC sites all neat & tidy. There is absolutely no problems with the toilet/shower facilities - spotlessly clean & no push button showers so lots of hot water flowing. I have no idea why some folks are grumbling about the sanitaires on this site?? The site overlooks the Dee estuary & you get fantastic sunsets from here. We took our bikes & enjoyed the cycle ride (about 2 miles) into West Kirby where there is a Weatherspoons pub! Then the other direction about 5 miles to Parkgate for a tasty ice cream from Nicholls! All in all a great site.

A brilliant site and very well managed

Goodness, reading through the reviews before we arrived I was worrying that we were heading for some form of Canine Stalingrad. However my dogs need not have worried. The friendly, professional wardens were friendly to both, and even to me as well. For dogs this site is actually brilliant. They can run their paws off just by crossing the road in front of the site and accessing the Wirral trail. Yes there are rules, and the rules are for all of us, dog owners and everyone else and I am pleased the rules are there and mostly respected. The site is exceptionally clean and well maintained and the managers very helpful. The location is brilliant. The little cafe 5 minutes down the road (turn right) is delightful if a little slow. The fish and chip van serves giant sized portions of chips. It was half-term week when we visited (still here) and lots of children and daytime noise (and why not, if I wanted an over 18 site then I would find one) but quiet at night. In summary, a delightful site, and I still have one more night! Again thank you to the staff who manage it so well.

Autumn weekend

Always a favourite place for us to go and visit, even better for the dogs! Just a shame our neighbour let their dog poo on our pitch just prior to our departure, Yes the shower/toilet block does need refurbishing, chipped floor tiles in the ladies shower is not good & dangerous for children. Amazingly though this old shower block is immaculate, a credit to the wardens. Spoilt to know what to do first in this area, shop in Liverpool, Chester or the designer outlet at Cheshire Oaks or walk the dogs along The Wirral Way, enjoy the Dee Estuary or walk around the marine Lake at West Kirby. Last but not least fantastic wardens!

One night only 20th October

We stayed for just the one night Saturday 20th October. Nearly 10 years since our last visit and we weren't disappointed. The wardens were very welcoming not many free pitches but we were on 56 which was great . Lovely area trip down memory lane for us and just as lovely as we remembered!! Went for a walk along the Wirral way and sat by camper early evening as we were very lucky with the weather!. Unlike earlier reviews so long as faclities are clean and working we are fine but then we dont go away for the toilet block!! Shame its closing soon as we would love to go back! We are so looking forward to going back in the new year!!! Many thanks!!
