Tv bollard problems

We have visited this site several times over the years, our last being over the May BH weekend. We didn't notice people leaving early but were frustrated with members allowing their children to scream, shout and run riot whilst they drank till late. The showers are older than some and mostly small but well maintained and clean. The site is well kept. Dog owners seem to think it's ok in a morning to let their pooches out unsupervised to relieve themselves leaving whatever for others to paddle in! But our biggest moan is the tv bollard (and I gather we weren't alone).  It was broken and meant our signal was variable. Thankfully, as we carry a tool kit we were able to get a signal with a bit of careful manipulation. The next day it went off altogether. When we spoke to the warden they said all was fine, suggested we retune and the warden would come when he'd finished his job but he never came. Thankfully the signal did return as it turned out it had been turned off by workmen on site. Can recommend the quarry behind the site for dog walking off lead. It's been developed over recent years making an interesting open space which just needs time to develop.  Lovely site, we'll be back

Peaceful?

This was our first visit to Wharfedale. Was it peaceful? No and this was nothing to do with the location, it was much more about other campers. Perhaps we were just unlucky but people seemed to get up really early and start packing up, changing water, toilets etc from before 6 am. We witnessed caravans all packed up and away by 7.30 am. The site itself was well looked after, the dog walk was very good and the staff were very friendly. Downside were the shower/toilets. They are very tired. The shower cubicles are very small. I would hate to be an adult trying to shower a little one in there! The first time I used the shower I hung my clothes on the hooks on the back of the door and they were completely soaked. The non-adjustable showerhead is on the back wall of the shower cubicle and was at such an angle that the whole place got soaked. I used the caravan after that! We did enjoy the walking in the area.

Time for change

We have been here when in business for twenty years. Over the years prices due to location have increased and facilities ie toilets and shower are not what is expected.  The wardens change too often, they used to be personable but now they are just doing a job!

Yet another great site

We stayed here in mid April. The wardens are efficient and polite. Everything about the site is what we have become used to,for caravan club site's, clean warm and beautiful. Our favourite place to eat out was the fountain inn at linton, great food at reasonable prices and a good pint. Malham was a good day out with plenty to see, water falls, cove and highest lake in England. Looking forward to returning soon.

School Holiday Break

Our first trip out to one of our favourite sites. Never disappointed and as usual clean and well maintained. Not many children despite being school holidays. Two attractions to mention, Gun Keepers Inn excellent food and good value on adjoining site. Farm shop on outskirts of Skipton, next to Little Chef Cafe is a great source of good value food and also has a cafe, well wortha visit. Only negative point re Caravan Site was the continual abuse of 5 mph speed restriction, and when I tackled one person who I had seen going at least 20 mph on at least 3 occasions was met with the response that "I should see the speed some people drive at on site" !!!!!!! When will these people learn, after a fatal accident?

Midweek break

First time out this year 11/04 to 15/04 we decided to return to wharfedale as we had a lovely time in april last year and were not disappointed. The site is well maintained and in an immaculate condition. Lovely location for walking or even driving further. We will be returning.

Lovely peaceful site

This was our first time here although we have visited the area before. The wardens are nice, one couple more so than the other, but don`t know which was which. The site is well laid out and has a woodland backdrop You can reach Grassington via a walk at the back of the site but I think it neds to be better marked. When we got to the road, we didn`t know which way to turn. The site is situated within another caravan Park which is really unusual and you may drive past when you arrive thinking you have gone to the wrong one. You can also use their facilities which include a leisure club with pool, a pub and a café. The pool is a little expensive though at £10 adults and £5 children. The café food is home made, tasty and very good value The site shop sells more things than others and even has local fresh meat and scones. It is over priced though which I think is due to its distance from any other shops. It has a drying room which is really handy and not all sites have this facility. Overall a lovely site for walking the beautiful Yorkshire area.

A lovely spot to visit

Although my husband and I only live a few miles down the road, this was our 'maiden voyage' with our new caravan. It's a lot bigger than the old one and we wanted a trial run before we start in earnest! The area is gorgeous and we had a smashing walk on the Saturday.  The site is beautifully maintained and the wardens could not be more helpful. We were up at the far end of the site, which possibly had a bit more of a country feel to it. All the pitches were large and really we could not fault anything. It's worth mentioning that the adjoining static site has a fab pub and restaurant. We had a lovely meal and found the prices to be very reasonable.  Even though it's on our doorstep, we will return.
