Excellent base for walking

Our second visit to this site, we find it a very convenient base for the excellent walking to be had in the area. The site was much the same as last time – the toilet block was adequate and clean but in need of a refurb. As a tip, pitches around 83-85 and 113-115 are quite near this block and there’s definitely noise audible from the fans. We avoid this area and opt for a pitch nearer to the footpath exit to Skirethorns Lane. The warden on duty when we arrived was Mr Grumpy. Never actually encountered Mr Grumpy at a CC site before. Nevertheless it’s a pity the majority of drivers seemed to be ignoring his strictures about the 5mph max on site. Also, during our visit there was quite a bit of tree surgery going on. Quiet it wasn’t, though it didn’t worry us. Niggles aside, we do like  this site, and we’ll probably be back for more.

Top site

Liked: Lots of good walks for dog (including a disused limestone quarry), well maintained grounds, TV antenna connection. Excellent meal and beer in the Devonshire (Grassington). Improvements?: Would like to have seen more footpath signs around the site (or at least a take-away map) to show us the walking direction to Grassington. Also, we are relatively new to motor-homing, and did not realise that you need to twist the electric plug to switch on the supply as the instruction badge on the hook-up post was illegible; luckily a chap showed us how to use it. Only one toilet/shower block which can be an issue if it is being cleaned (it is also is a bit dated, but adequate). However, overall, we really liked this site and would come back again for a two-night stay.

Nice site in lovely area

We loved this site, pitches are spacious, well kept and facilities spotless. It's a lovely area with pretty walks across the fields to neighbouring villages; the walking map sold at reception is invaluable. We will return.

Beautiful Yorkshire Dales

This is a well run, well laid out site with excellent facilities in a lovely location ideal for walkers.  There is a very good play area for small children but no where for children to kick a ball about ride bicycles  without being too close to others. I don't know what the answer is as the only unused land is too hilly. I think therefore that the site is ideal for young families and couples . There is of course the nearby swimming pool at Long Ashes which older children can use for a daily fee. Pleasant helpful wardens .

Great Site, Great location!

Just arrived back from Wharfedale C C site and as usual (this our third visit) had a really great time. The site is easy to access with large pitches and very helpful friendly wardens. They keep it in excellent condition. There is a pub within 5 10 mins walking which is dog friendly with garden area and although we didn't eat there have had good reports. (There is also a good dog walking area). The position is ideal for exploring the dales and there are some nice walks from the site itself (a short but enjoyable one is up and through the old Threshfield Quarry which gives some great views). Grassington is nearby and for those new to the area a visit to Skipton is a must. We most certainly will be returning and would find it very difficult to suggest how it could be improved.

First visit to the Yorkshire Dales a success

Friendly welcome at this well kept site situated in the beautiful Wharfedale area. The hardstanding pitches are all reasonably level and within easy reach of water/ waste disposal and toilet facilities. If you intend putting up an awning then make sure you bring robust steel pegs. Also essential you follow the access advise to the site as any other route is not wise if you pull a caravan. We will undoubtedly be back, which I guess is the best reference I can give.

Lovely peaceful site

Stayed for 3 nights recently and whilst we can't fault the site the weather was not good so limited what we could do outdoors. Nice peaceful location.

Excellent

We have been to many club sites in the five years we have been motor homing but this one is by far the best.If you want peace and quiet this is the place for you. It's so peaceful all you can hear is the birds singing .The toilet block and showers are spotless and the wardens really helpful and friendly , can't wait to go back next year .
