Walker's delight

A lovely, clean, well kept site. Walking straight out of the site gate onto beautiful countryside and walks for miles. We walked the quarries and over towards Kilnsey most days with our two dogs. A visit to Bolton Abbey for the walks along the river to The Strid or Barden are a must, great walk for adults, dogs and children as there are safe areas of the river with stony beaches for the children to paddle and plenty of tea rooms along the route to stop for refreshment. Pateley Bridge was pretty and the pie shop makes the best pies to take home for tea. Burnsall is by the river with a couple of pubs overlooking the village green and very pretty in the sunshine for a light ale or two while watching people paddle in the water. Grassington is the most local market town/village and is very pretty with some nice shops a small Boots and supermarket too.

Don your boots

Such a superb location you can just hide your car keys away. There is an abundance of short, long, easy, challenging and everything in between walks right on the doorstep of the site. So just put on your boots and give your car/motor home a rest. Add to this friendly, helpful wardens and a lovingly cared for site.

Peace and Tranquility

We stayed here for 5 nights.  The weather wasn't kind but we still opted to stay an extra night because the area was so beautiful and we wanted to visit all the lovely villages nearby with their quaint pubs and shops.  We also did plenty of walking -Malham Cove was very impressive and from there we walked to Malham Tarn.  It's a dog walker's heaven.  Although this is a fabulous site I wouldn't like to take young children unless they really love the outdoors.  It's more suited to adults.

Excellent Site

We have been on this site several times and it remains a favourite.  Cannot add much to what others say about the hard working cheery wardens, the overall tidy and well kept site, and the location. Unfortunately our experience of the food at the Gamekeepers pub was not good on a steak night. Old Hall and Foutaine Inn are much superior. Pleased to note from another review that the Toilet Block is to be refurbished, it needs it, but that is simply due to aging and use, not to any lack of cleaning etc.

Perfectly Wonderful

This is a lovely site set in a tranquil part of Yorkshire with plenty to see and do. The wardens are very helpful and friendly and look after the place really well. I'd read many reviews saying how nice it was but that the shower block needed a refurb - we found the showers block to be absolutely fine. It's spotlessly clean, has plentiful hot water and lots of cubicles so we never had to wait. A short walk through the neighbouring static caravan site takes you to the Gamekeepers Inn which we'd recommend. We had a lovely meal there with very friendly and attentive waiting staff. Grassington is very close by and Bolton Abbey is also worth a visit. We'll definitely be back to this site. Thanks for a lovely long weekend!

simply splendid

as a regular visitor to this site cannot add much more than previous reviews, cant fault the wardens very helpful and friendly, and once again a visit this time on site by the local deer, hedgehogs and the "camp" cat of unknown ownership which took up residence in our awning for 3 days, hope future visitors look after it!

Hard to beat

Just returned from our third visit this year to Wharfedale site, can't fault it in any way, the shower block is very clean and tidy, the warden told me that they are refurbing it next year (don't no why ) 10min walk to nearest pub in Threshfield (The Old Hall ) Olde Worlde type pub with excellent food or 30 minute walk into Grassington with three pubs and numerous cafe's in my opinion this site is as good as it gets

Great site, lovely location

This was our second stay at the Wharfdale site and we weren't disappointed, other than with the weather which was mixed! Easy drive up from Skipton, helpful staff, clean and well kept facilities and spacious pitches. Fund raising events on the Saturday included a coffee morning, dog show, raffle and pie supper all for great local causes. Location is brilliant for visiting the dales especially Wharfdale, Coverdale and Wensley Dale. Local pub food is good including the Gamekeeper, adjacent to the site

Good base for touring the area.

This site is a good base to use for touring the immediate area. Some of the hardstanding pitches are on steep slopes so care needs to be taken when levelling caravans and motorhomes. A lot of tree work and ground maintenance was going on when we visited, so the place was quite noisy during the day. The toilet/shower block is well maintained but in need of a refurb. We shall definitely be revisiting this site for short breaks. There's a good pub/restaurant on the adjacent private caravan home site, which is well worth a visit.
