Another great visit.

This was our second visit to the site. Even though it was the height of summer we found an excellent pitch in this quiet setting. Lots of easy walks from the site if you don't want to take the car out. Would highly recommend the 'Craven Arms' pub in Appletreewick which serves high quality food all day - first grouse of the season and whole grilled lemon sole (delicious). If you visit the area in August a day at the Kettlewell Scarecrow festival is highly recommended. Having visited a number of sites now we feel that the toilet block could do with a bit of an update although this didn't detract from our overall experience and will definitely be back for another visit in the future.

Very enjoyable stay.

Just returned from a very enjoyable four nights at this site. It is in a beautiful location with spacious pitches and well kept facilities. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. Lots of walks from the site along Wharfdale. The nearby Gamekeepers Inn is very convenient for a tasty meal. Studley Royal and Fountains Abbey worth a visit.

Lovely Site, Lukewarm Reception

We stayed at the site over roughly the same period as bordertman below. I know this because the water was also off during our stay. Unlike the poster below we found the wardens less than helpful. Other than signs saying that the water was off outside the facilities no signs were placed around the site to say that bottled water was available or to say that a bowser was on hand for non-drinking water. We have 2 children and were not offered any drinking water and were not aware that any was available. I understand that facilities occasionally break down but I found the response less than helpful. I wouldn't wish to put people off staying there because it is a lovely site in a beautiful location but throughout our stay I felt that the wardens were less than friendly. Whilst washing up one day one of the lady wardens accused me of removing the 'no entry' barrier which indicates that the washing up room is closed for cleaning. I would never do such a thing and to be accused of it was more gauling because I was in the process of cleaning up the mess of the previous people who had left the adjacent sink in a bit of a state i.e. I thought I was doing a good turn only to be accused of 'breaking the rules'. All in all, not a very relaxed approach. Also, not sure if this is club policy but the toilets, showers and washing up station were closed for cleaning from roughly 10.00am to 11.00am every day, precisely when many people were wishing to get ready to go out for the day. Only a single toilet was left open resulting in regular queues. The overall impression of the maintenance regime was that it was programmed for the convenience of the wardens rather than the paying guests. Sorry to be negative but I thought it created a frosty atmosphere, certainly not a 'friendly club' as one of your competitors likes to call itself!

A little down on its heels

Stayed here for 6 nights recently, have not visited this site for quite a number of years and nothing has changed. I understand that it will be having a refurb very soon to update the facilities which is long overdue hence only a 4 for facilities and not a 5. If we are paying for a premium site then the facilities should match up to the price. That having been said the wardens were wonderful nothing was too much trouble - a refreshing change. The water went off for almost a day while we were there which was a real pain as we don't like to use the van for toileting however bottled water was given out and a bowser was on hand for non drinking water. Perhaps we should have been offered a refund? We love that part of the country and would recommend, however shops are quite a walk if you arrive with a mobile home and have not stocked up.

Lovely site in great location

Decided at the last minute to book for four nights last week. Weather was perfect which is such a bonus with so many lovely walks in the area. Everything was pristine and we had a great pitch with sun all day after early morning. All the pitches are nice with most hard standing and a few on grass. Shop has plenty to sell including cream teas at a bargain price. You can walk into Grassington in about half an hour which is always worth a visit or just walk along the river as far as you please. Everyone was very friendly including the wardens. So many gorgeous places to visit round here with quiet roads and spectacular scenery. Yes there probably were more dogs than people, we don't have one, but all were well behaved and on the whole very quiet. It is amazing that so many people now have two dogs.We just loved it here and can't wait to come back

An awful lot of dogs

Quite a nice site In a good location but if you are not fond of dogs you might want to give this one a miss. Dogs outnumbered people whilst we were there and though most were well behaved there was usually one barking somewhere. All were on leads on site but that didn't stop them lifting a leg on every available post and bollard . Not all were on leads on the dog walks which lead to the public footpaths and that was not comfortable for us. Wouldn't go back.

The dreaded mowers

On Tuesday 16th of Aug it was the most lovely ,warm ,sunny day you could hope for .Went out walking in the morning ,got back about 1.30 pm and was looking forward to sitting back and relaxing for the rest of the day.Fat chance of that ,the wardens spent all afternoon till 5 o clock grass cutting . What a racket ( they were wearing ear protectors we could have done with them ) Now I know that the grass needs cutting but do they have to do it all in 1 day , can they not space it out through the week and give people the chance for some peace and quiet especially on such a lovely day . Let's face it we don't get that many in this country. I feel no regard was given to anyone who had paid good money to be on the site which was a shame because the site is really nice. I'm sure this is not the only site were this happens. More thought needed I think. Otherwise, a great site handy for Grassington.

Lovely site

This is one of the best sites we have stayed at, the wardens are very welcoming and keep the site in prestine condition, the area is great with loads to see and do. Only slight downside is the toilet block needs updating which I understand from the warden is being refurbished next year. You probably will struggle to book a pitch once completed. Great site we will be returning.

Excellent stay

We visited this site for the first time for 3 days last week, we don't normally go to CC sites in August as it is very expensive but we were meeting Friends. Very friendly and helpful Wardens and the site was immaculate. Good facilities but rather a long way from shops although there is a bus stop at the end of the drive but it must be a good half a mile. The Reception is very well stocked with necessities and you can also order newspapers.

Peace and quiet

Well laid-out, established and screened site, sufficiently off the main road that passing traffic noise is unnoticeable. Well maintained and clean. The pitches are not particularly deep but also not as cramped as the newer sites. The last mile to the site from Threshfield is a bit tight so best to take it slowly. 5 mph speed limit on site is a bit OTT, I'm all for driving slowly and carefully but 5MPH?, most speedos won't even read that low and I didn't see anyone obeying the limit so it really needs setting at a speed most people will judge to be acceptably safe. TV reception poor, but the installed booster system worked well. If you like walking and the great outdoors, this is a good site
