Second time visiting the site and again we were very pleased with our stay. The Wardens were really helpful and went out of their way to accommodate our requirement to put up an awning on our twin axle tourer. The weather was horrendous with high winds and snow but we were well sheltered from the worst of it. Didn't use the facilities are we are still using onboard due to Covid. Easy walk into Warwick with lots of places to eat and drink. We had the added bonus of watching hundreds of "Reindeer" running around the racecourse on a fun run on the Sunday morning! Will certainly be returning in 2022.
The location is fantastic, a few minutes walk to the lovely town of Warwick, set in the center of the race course, ideal if you have a dog like ourselves, a lovely walk in and around the course. Admittedly the site could do with updating a little and park of the site is basically a car park, so I advise to get there early. My only real moan is that the warden wins the prize for the rudest warden I have came across at club sites, a real shame.
Rang site, answering machine, rang HQ, told to ring site. Rang site left message. Requested pitch near to toilets due to health issues Site rang back, no disabled pitches near to toilets but would get us as close as possible. Arrived. Bearing in mind pitch number 2 is right opposite as to where we wanted to be we were put on ‘saved’ pitch number 49. You couldn’t make it up.
Brilliant for visiting Warwick.
Booked knowing we wouldn’t need an awning, but on arrival told we could only pitch on blue markers. This meant we had to pitch on what must be an old car park (old tarmac in poor condition not in level)
and to add insult to injury, walkers in their numbers wander along the path ogling at you. It’s not as if it’s cheaper to have these inferior pitches and indeed many of those on the awning pitches did not have awnings.
First visit to Warwick and will definitely be back. Conveniently located next to town. Lovely walk around the racecourse, also enjoyed walk to the canal and up the 'stairway to heaven' locks. Walked around local park and alongside the river. Visited several National Trust properties nearby. Only couple of small moans, we couldn't pick up a decent TV signal to get the main channels. Also the showers seemed to flood, I assume its because the curtain has been removed and the shower splashes across the floor.
This was our first visit back to Warwick since the COVID outbreak, it did not disappoint. Although we are still avoiding crowds and inside places we enjoyed walking around the race course, along the canal to the river, along the river through the park and back to the town. Nice to see lots of the old shops, cafes and pubs still open but upsetting to see lots of empty shops a sign of the pandemic
Warwick is a lovely clean town and we always notice how clean and tidy the streets are kept and there are plenty of rubbish and dog bins available.
The market on Saturday was very good lots of lovely local stalls selling a nice range of goods
A party was on at the racetrack Saturday night which was quite loud but once inside the van we were not disturbed
It is a shame that CMC seem to have stopped allowing late check outs I understand if the site is fully booked but I think it would be nice if they could let you stay for one or two hours on the Sunday, pre COVID this was often allowed but now it is not
Our first time to Warwick Racecourse and what a great site, position wise it's a 10 minute walk to the centre of town, with lots of independent traders, bakeries, butchers, deli's, small cafes and restaurants. A market on Saturday was also good with local cheeses, fruit and veg etc. for any bits you've forgotten there is also a Sainsbury's 5 minutes walk along the road. There are many lovely walks directly from the site, we bought a printed map from the lovely Managers and walked to Hatton Locks, relaxing stroll in the sunshine. For runners the Park Run starts from the racecourse on a Saturday morning. The site is well looked after, grass pitched mown and hedges clipped, yes the road in slightly bumpy but no pot holes as such just loose gravel. Due to its location it is very quiet, we loved our weekend and will definitely be back. Can't really comment on the facilities as we use our own.
Been here many times over many years.Site is owned by Jockey Club but I assume Club pays a lot of rent etc over the years.Road round perimeter of site is awful.poor surface stones etc some deep.only 1 water point by main building.some distance from pitches.difficult to get in lady's and gents as letter sticking.(not only us as I heard others comment).very corroded tap in ladys looks ucky.
Site is handy for stroll round town centre.we used bus to very busy Stratford on Avon.
Bit expensive for standard of site.
Visited Warwick for an overnight stop in September 21, the site is ideally located for easy access to everything Warwick has to offer, the wardens were very friendly and courteous with the site being kept very clean and felt Covid safe, this was our second visit to this site, the last time being in 2010, and we look forward to visiting again.
