Caution motorhomers

Friendly and helpful wardens, but if you own a motorhome and book by phone, a word of caution. I was given the choice of hardstanding or grass and chose grass, since i`d read the reports about the notorious "car park" for hard standing. Upon arrival the Warden had booked me onto hardstanding and I had to stand my ground about what he had said by phone. I think they prefer to put the caravans on the grass and once he`d spotted my motorhome decided to switch me. Anyway, although he said grass was fully booked, miraculously conjured one up having stood my ground. (and there was at least one other grass pitch available that night too!) So good outcome in the end, shame we had to go through that drama to get there. This site is what it is, great if you are a race goer on race days, rather dated and small, perfect for walking into Warwick, quirky with it`s unusual hardstanding, but don`t expect the usual layout of the typical C.C. layout.

Moderator edit: Warden's name has been removed

A great place to visit

We have just returned from the Warwick Racecourse site and I wanted to add my positive comments about the site and Wardens. The Wardens were excellent and made us feel welcome on arrival and couldn't do enough to ensure we found a suitable pitch. I was a bit concerned about an adverse comment relating to 'like pitching up in a car park' on an earlier post but we had a great pitch on a grassy private area. The site was well looked after and a testament to the hard work put in by the Wardens. If you're looking for a break where you can walk into Warwick in 10 mins to look at the town, the lively market, the history, Castle....I could go on...this is it. Nice to leave the car behind and not worry about parking or having a beverage! Stratford is also in easy reach and we enjoyed a long day out following the Shakespeare trail. If your looking for a family friendly site with loads to do in the area, this is it. I do accept its not set in lush woodlands but don't be put off, this site has so much to offer if you don't want to spend all day driving to the next point of interest. Very easy access from the M40 too. Enjoy....

Excellent Place to Stay

Have just spent 10 nights on this site meeting up with caravanning friends (we are in a motorhome). On arrival we were greeted by very friendly wardens who were helpful and apologetic we couldn't be camped next to our friends. After four nights we were able to move onto the pitch next to our friends which was brilliant. The site is kept neat and tidy. The ablutions were clean. The disabled shower could do with a little more water pressure but apart from that it was perfect. The other ablutions and washing up area were a little busy at times but if you change your timing by a couple of hours you can get straight in. The town centre, bus stop and Sainsburys supermarket are all within easy reach as is the walk along the canal. The castle is more of a theme park for families with children. It's an expensive day out and has lost the historical aspect imho. A bus trip into Leamington Spa is well worth it. The town has lovely green parks and some stunning architecture and Nando's is there (what's not to like). We had a fish and chip meal on our last night at the Chip Shed which is within easy walking distance from the site. This place is not to be missed. Gregg the fryer is from Leeds and cooks the fish and chips the Yorkshire way which is the best. Very tasty and plenty on the plate. Give it a try. We had a small distasteful event after our first night by a caravanner pitched next to our friends. He lodged a complaint against us for chatting and laughing and ordered us not to do it again, threatening to phone the police if we did. The wardens handled the complaint with great professionalism and understanding and we would like to thank them for that. Please people, if you don't like folk having a good time on holiday then please don't use campsites. Living in close proximity in thinly walled vehicles requires tolerance and understanding. Needless to say we and our neighbours thoroughly enjoyed ourselves after he had left the site. :-) Happy camping everyone.

Fantastic site and town

Loved this site ,so convenient to a fantastic town with lots to do and many places to visit , we stayed for three nights which was no where near long enough , lots of places to eat and drink and lots of free entertainment from the town market to a free classic car show . will definitely be back again and hoping to get a grass pitch if possible . As usual wardens were very helpful and friendly .

car park

We have toured England this summer and this is our last destination. Unfortunately, our hardstanding pitch is in the car park. This is the only caravan club site we've stayed in this summer; unfortunately it has made us question the need to renew our membership. However, the reception was welcoming and friendly

An Excellent Location.

We stayed 6 nights in early August, at a time when there was no race meeting. We found the site to be quiet and peaceful with a helpful and friendly warden team, and were able to stay on a level gravel pitch of our choice. Access is very easy being just a couple of miles off the M40, and Warwick town centre, the main bus station and a supermarket are within very easy walking distance. There are also bus stops right at the site entrance that give easy access to Coventry and Leamington Spa one way, and Stratford-upon- Avon the other way. There are also lovely walks around the racecourse available directly from the pitch. We enjoyed an excellent visit.

One Nighter

What a pleasant site ,with excellent wardens who could not do enough for us even though we were only staying for one night they even arranged a plot along the racecourse as we wanted to leave early in the morning ,The recommendation of a Pub (called The old Fourpenny shop Hotel )exceeded all my expectations ),The food and service was excellent .I can not say enough about this site and would not hesitate to stay again ,but for a longer break , next time

Another pleasant break

We often stay here as we have family in the area.  This time we had 5 days and our granddaughter insisted on dining at the caravan each day.  We had a very pleasant grass pitch, a bit of noise from dog walkers the other side of the boundary fence but nothing too unpleasant.  The wardens were their usual helpful, efficient and humorous selves.  The facilities, though clean, look as if they are due for an upgrade, though please not those awful showers without a defined edge as at Sheepcote Valley, sorry, Brighton!
