Easy access from A66. A very peaceful and relaxing site great dog walk through the forest. Just what the doctor ordered.
Wonderful stay - Great hosts
Impeccably clean and quiet. Arrived just under the wire at 7:50 and the hosts seemed a little off we were late. They seemed very friendly though.

Dissapointed
The site was excellent as well as the facilities and it was great to have the activity centre next door. The reason I am reviewing is because of how Dissapointed we were with the wardens who made us stay overnight in the late night parking area on the first night. We had problems on our way to the site and had to stop to get a new battery in our motorhome. I rang the site to day we may be a little late and we did arrive at 8.15pm. The warden saw us and I introduced myself and apologised for arriving late. Despite her knowing that we had had huge problems on the way and had an 8year old child with us she refused to let us on the site and we had to stay in the late night area. Also we were unable to get onto the site until after 9.30am the following day! Very Dissapointed in how unflexible the warden was.

Short Break
Stayed at this site for 4 nights wished we could have stayed longer, wardens very helpful, toilet block and showers spotless, pity other caravan club members felt the need to leave a mess for the wardens to clean up. weather not great but still didn't spoil the break we will be returning for another break
Lovely site, shame about the weather
This was our first time at troutbeck head. The location is great for visiting both Keswick and Ullswater. it's nicely kept with good, clean faciltiies.
The dog walks from the site were also varied. The only negative was the weather, which is totally out of their control. They do have an indoor table tennis table, which was handy for our 11 yo. We will be returning again in the near future, when the weather will hopefully be better.
Quiet and Peaceful
This was a very clean and friendly site and I am sure if you are there for the views and walks you will find it stunning. It is 11 miles to Keswick with the bus stop being a 1.5 mile road walk which in the lashing wind and rain was too dangerous. The staff are lovely and they advised taxi's were to be avoided (too expensive). We took our motorhome in to Keswick and pulled in to the car park near Booths supermarket (£15 to park) fortunately meters all out of order so no charge for us. Poor TV signal but on a sunny day I am sure this wouldn't be a problem. Fully serviced pitches are definitely worth the extra cost. I would have loved this site had the weather been better.

Outstanding
This was our first visit to the Troutbeck and it didn't disappoint! The booking in process was very quick and efficient and the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. The site is perfectly placed for visiting the Northern end of the Lakes and the close proximity of Blencathra, Great Mell Fell and other well known walks is a bonus for the walking community. The site amenities are second too none and the showers are the biggest I've ever been in. I would recommend this site to everybody without hesitation.
Perfect for Northern Lakes
We only stayed one night en route home, but would certainly return for a longer stay. The site is well laid out and easy to find. Ideal as a base for touring the northern lake district. The only drawback for us was the lack of satellite TV reception, as the hills seem to stop the signal.
One of the best
We only stay here on route to Scotland and what a gorgeous stopover it is. Fabulous scenery wherever your eyes roam.
The park is roomy, easy to get around with your van, and good access onto pitches.
Toilet blocks are warm, clean and inviting - fancy saying that a toilet block is inviting! But, it's good to have a decent place to do what you need to do.
We will continue to use Troutbeck whenever we do our Scottish trips (often, since my daughter lives there now) because - heck! - because we like the place.

Another great visit
We stayed here during the last week it was open this season. As always with club sites the site itself was very tidy and well-kept by the hardworking wardens. The shower/toilet blocks (there are two with different closing times in the morning and afternoon) were spotless and the shower cubicles must be the largest on the network with an ample changing area before the shower part. Even though the site was full there was never a queue for the showers, and there was plenty of hot water and pressure. There is also a large games room with tables, chairs and supplied sheets of paper to be coloured in. There is also a table tennis table and two 50p pool tables. This room is well away from any pitches. There are two play areas as well so children are well catered for. There are 30+ service pitches and all other pitches are hardstanding. There are a few grass pitches but the wardens said these had not been used this season and they will convert to hardstanding in due course (yippee). There is a lot to do in the lakes and to help you decide an excellent information area in the games room. We have been many times to this site and always come away happy. Thank you wardens once again.
