One of the best

I recently spent 3 weeks on this site. The standard of cleanliness is second to none, the site is immaculate. Location is of course one of the high points, lovely views of Blencathra and stunning sunsets. If you are interested in outdoor pursuits, such as horse riding, the site is ideally placed next door to Rookin House activity centre. I must also commend the site staff on being so kind to me, especially following a fall while I was there. One of the staff ran me to the medical centre on two consecutive days, they all helped and checked I was managing. I cannot praise or thank them enough, one of the girls even looked in on my dog and gave him a walk. So, if you like a clean, attractive site, views to marvel at, sunsets to amaze you, and brilliant staff, then go to Troutbeck, you will not be disappointed.

Exceeding Expectations

My wife and I had a touring van when the kids were young and enjoyed many of the Club sites but having become grandparents a couple of years ago we recently purchased another one and set back out on our first journey for a long time! Troutbeck Head was the chosen destination, beautifully located, easily accessed and impeccably well kept our return to touring has exceeded our expectations. The whole of the lakes are in easy striking distance, the nearby farm shop a must visit and the stunning views and wonderful skies are an absolute pleasure! Give Troutbeck Head a visit, you will not be disappointed.

second visit to troutbeck head#

our second visit to this site after several years, we stayed on a serviced pitch which raised above the main camping area gave excellent views of blencathra and surrounding area, the site is very clean and offers plenty for children such as two pool tables, table tennis and a football game, enclosed playground with a small slide come climbing area, the beck runs along side this area so kids would need supervision, good walking area, very clean toilets, sweets , ice cream, bread and eggs from the reception block, ( no papers ) , fish and chip van on Tuesdays and Fridays, well worth a visit, between penrith and Keswick so plenty of shops for the ladies.

Just The Ticket

We are a family of 4 children age 11 and 14. We have holiday in the lakes for the past 5 years and this site tops them all so far. Great hot showers and in a building that has a foyer that stops any cold winds getting into the shower/toilet area. There are only 4 toilets and 4 showers in the 2 blocks but this was never a problem and the site was busy during our stay. Always clean which is an achievement in itself as the weather was very wet. We had a serviced pitched (26) best sized pitch we have stayed on much bigger than other pitches we have stayed on in club sites in the lakes. The site is perfectly situated for visiting all the lakes with the A591 taking you all the way to the south or north lakes. Plenty of information provided by the site for places to visit if you run out of ideas. Great discounts on water trips at ullswater and Keswick. Best of all no phone signal. you get away from it all and just relax in the breath taking scenery that is all around the site. The games room was a complete winner for the kids normally only get these facilities when we go to a French site. Well done.

Move With the Times Please

This was our 10th visit to this site so has obviously been a big favourite in the past. However we haven't been for a few years and in the meantime we have become accustomed to using the Internet to plan our activities and download local information. It came as a bit of a shock therefore to find that a site of this calibre has no such facility. This will probably influence whether we choose to visit again and is such a shame when everything else the site has to offer is of the highest standard.

Clean and peaceful

This was our first caravan holiday after a 25 year lay off. What a lovely surprise to find heated facility blocks,TV hookups and spacious pitches  all on a beautiful and peaceful site, things have certainly changed in the last 25 years. The site wardens and staff are a very friendly and helpful bunch who keep the site  and facilities spotlessly clean and tidy even though it hardly stopped raining during our 4 day stay. If this is representative of CC sites we will be using them a lot more.

Great site

Stayed at this charming site over Easter and we loved its Calm and tranquility. Very easy and quick access off A66.  All the wardens very helpful and always greeted us.  All facilities clean and lovely hot showers, especially when chilled to the bone from the storms.  Excellent dog walking at the back of the serviced pitch area, where dogs can run free through the woods. Advised by the warden the best pitches available for dramatic views of blencathra. And told to go in A frame 1st for better views. Well done guys, we will be back.

Excellent site - Very helpful

Would like to say a big thanks for all the help from the wardens. Having to arrive early over the Easter holidays due to car issues, then having a flooded pitch due to the heavy rain the wardens were more than happy to help us move pitches straight away. Even when we were due to leave we had to drive home to then come back with a different car to tow the van back again they were on hand to help. Site was immaculate and we had a fantastic Easter break even though we had mixed weather and doubts that we would get there. Again many thanks.
