Great place to stay

We have just stayed at Troutbeck Head site and had a lovely stay. The views all around are wonderful and we were lucky to have the beck flowing along behind us. The facilities were immaculate, spotlessly clean and modern and easy walk from the van. The wardens were very pleasant and friendly. An easy run on to the A66 and then to Penrith or Keswick. Peaceful and quiet. A great stay and will be back again.

First time visit and won’t be our last!

What a beautiful site. Visited for the first time for eight nights. The site was immaculately kept and the wardens were lovely and friendly. We pitched on number 54 and the view was amazing. Easy access to both Penrith and Keswick, as you’re not far from the A66, but far enough away to not hear it. We even made use of the games room one night. We will certainly be back, as it was worth the three hour drive for us!

Ideal base for the central Lake District

We enjoyed our 10 night stay in September and were lucky to have a superb pitch with excellent views down by the stream. That said, many of the pitches have an excellent view (not so much the serviced pitches it would seem). Very little noise from the next door Activity Centre during our stay, other than the sound of the ponies and the stream during the night! (There was a bit of noise on Saturday night from there but it wasn't too distracting). The site is well kept, immaculately so and the wardens that we met all friendly and helpful.

One of the best sites ever - on all levels

Wow! What a site! Kept in close contact with the site during the day as we were travelling back from the NC500 and thought we were going to arrive late. Super communication throughout which reassured us that there was a contingency plan in place should we be late. We arrived with a few minutes to spare: the staff greeted us and couldn’t have been more cheerful, friendly or helpful. All the appropriate information about site given. Our pitch was brilliant. Peaceful and quiet. Could not get any aerial signal but not an issue for us. Great walking for the dogs straight from site and up into the forest. Beautiful quiet location but very easy access back onto the M6. Beautiful views all round. The site itself was probably the best kept, cleanest, well equipped, homely site we have visited. The toilet and shower block was another level-warm, hot showers, beautifully clean. We can’t wait to come back. This is a gem of a site in all respects , made even more special by brilliant staff. Thank you!

Beautifully clean, quiet and excellent team on site

We stayed here on our way to and back from doing the NC500 in our VW Campervan over 2 weeks. Troutbeck Head is the cleanest, best run and quietest campsite we stayed in. The shower block is five-star. The staff are really helpful and friendly. Off-lead dog walks from the site is perfect. We couldn't ask for more, and will definitely be back.

Immaculate site and supremely friendly staff

We stayed in our VW camper van for one night in mid August. Sadly, we didn't have time to stay longer and explore, but the site itself was superb. Spacious, quiet, beautifully kept. The facilities had been recently updated and were spotless and had everything we needed, even down to the 'help yourself' cooking herbs planted by the facilities. We arrived in the evening after a long journey and were immediately refreshed by the welcome from the reception staff. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Great Site and staff really helpful

Great clean site - we stayed on one of the service pitches opposite the pods. Staff always seemed happy to help and chat while they were keeping the site in order . The lady suggested a good walk which went into Keswick - 3.5 miles and catch the bus back (£2/head). I agree with a previous comment about take a aerial lead as the reception is poor but once plugged in to the post aerial it was fine . No Wifi - But who cares !! not there to be on my phone ,enjoy the scenery and walks. Walk just on the top part of the site takes you off into the woods . We had a large dog who enjoyed it . The site is easy to drive round and park up - no motor mover needed Not alot else to say but enjoy and the Troutbeck inn just up the road is good for a evening meal /drink

Spotless facilities, lovely site

Spotless modernised facilities blocks. We pitched in the Beckside area which had great views across to Blencathra. Good area for dogs - lots of walks in the vicinity. Rookin Farm next door is great for horse riding and other activities. Easy to get to the site with it being just about 1.5 miles off the A66, so also a good base for visiting the northern lakes. Basecamp Provisions and Cafe is a short drive away and sells delicious goods. The site is slightly away from the honeypot areas, but a great base.

Parfait

Super standing avec larges emplacements dans un cadre magnifique entouré de moutons. Les sanitaires sont neuves et impeccables. Fish and chips et pub dans un ranch à 300m du site. Juste parfait ;)
