lack of communication

we recently stayed at troutbeck head and were disappointed to find the plots we were allocated for not having a awning were 1st surrounded by trees with no views,2nd we were next to the sceptic tanks this would not have been a problem has they normally have been emptied once a week.unfortunetly the week we were there they were being emptied and serviced.we had to put up with 3 days wed thurs fri of not only the smell of the emptying of the tanks but also the smell of the tankers engine revving to get the tanks empty.when we raised this with the office we were told it was a job that had to be done.it spoiled our holiday and has put us of staying there again if this is going to happen.

Don't make our mistake when booking a pitch here

We booked a non awning pitch as you would expect if you weren't taking one...... WRONG MOVE! On this site all non awning pitches are at the bottom of the site mostly surrounded by trees. Be aware also that some are quite close to the Septic Tank which is emptied weekly and quite unpleasant. The awning pitches have better views and are the same price as non awning pitches.

Unpleasant staff

Lovely site super location site and facilities very well cared for would have been perfect were it not for the hostile attitude of some staff members

Neat and tidy site.

We stayed a few days last week. Heavy rain overnight but our pitch drained well. The whole site is kept immaculate by the hard working wardens. The toilet blocks are dated but everything works, water is lovely and hot with good pressure in the showers. We remember staying over Christmas 2002 when the underfloor heating was really luxurious. Ah! the good old days when this site was open in winter.

Lovely site

We have only recently joined the caravan club a nod this was our first visit to the Trourbeck site. The staff were really helpful and approachable. The site is clean and tidy and really easy to find. There is good access and the pitches are wide and flat. Had a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Good stopover

Stayed here on way home from Bunree site. Very easy access and to find. We had wanted a site not too far from M6 to keep our mileage down. Very clean. Good location.

Staff Par Excellence

After fridge breakdown site staff took all our provisions and looked after them until we left. Great service as always at this wonderfully kept site which we have been visiting for over 20 years.

Nice site

We have been coming here for many years mainly during the Autumn when colours in the Lakes are at there best. The site however does not represent value for money for us anymore as rapidly rising prices make it quite expensive to say for more than a few nights. Despite this we love the site but feel that a refurbishment of the toilet blocks is now more than overdue given the amount of money this site generated per year. Come on Caravan Club put some money back into Troutbeck and bring the toilet facilities up to your usual standards!

Washrooms need a refresh

I have used this site at least 4 times in the last 2 years and on every occasion the male urinals had a distinctly unpleasant odour. I don't blame the staff for this - they clean them - but the urinals do not having any flush mechanism and are of a non-ceramic material. Not surprising they stink. The showers are ok but there is some mould developing in some of them. I would think a modest investment could sort the problem out.

Why not wi fi.

This is good site in a superb location, with helpful wardens who administer it very well. However why has the CC not invested in an adequate wi fi system? Mobile phone coverage is patchy and yet the CC is investing in installing Wi fi on other sites but nothing for Troutbeck. Why?
