Small things matter.

Stayed many times at this site which is lovely, however, this time we got a little frustrated by the lack of a drying room for walking equipment. The drying room was not working in April, but in August, my husband was asked which block he needed the code for, but there was still no heat. We asked three times during the week and the answer varied as to which warden was on duty. When I asked the female assistant warden, she was so dismissive that my teenage daughter actually commented! Sunny days render wet boots in the lakes, as the fells are boggy. We were made to feel we should not be asking for a facility (even one advertised). No one seems to know if this site is closing soon for renovation either. Fabulous place, views etc, but the wardens make or break a good experience. Sort out drying rooms, this is the Lake District.

Troutbeck Tribulations

Visited the site for six nights in September. Good facilities, well maintained, if a little dated. Reception was a bit surly, unusual experience, not helped by a condescending lecture about the pitch marker peg, despite 40 years caravanning on CC sites. A major concern was enduring a days grass cutting around our caravan....by 3 strimmers ! CC stopped using lawn mowers ? Staff all had ear defenders....perhaps the CC should issue them to members ! Despite these negative experiences, the site is ideal for visiting the many attractions in the area, is located in an attractive area and is easy to access from the main routes. Plenty of excellent eating places nearby, Sportsman Inn is worth a visit for dinner. We will return and hopefully enjoy a more receptive, and tranquil, experience.

Wonderful weekend

Another weekend at this lovely site - one of our favourites. Lovely welcome and excellent facilities. We love the large shower cubicles here. Enjoyed our time here so much we paid for an extra night to be able to stay until 6pm and have another day out walking. Nothing to criticise about the site, just sorry the club always plants up lots of tall trees when landscaping a site. Great when they are small, but now that they are huge the fantastic view of Blencathra is lost from many pitches. Can't wait to return.

Lovely site

We have just returned from a long weekend at Troutbeck. It was very nice. We could not fault the site in any way. Everyone was very friendly, and we liked the slightly more rugged nature of the northern lakes. Having a Ptterdale terrier we visited the Patterdale dog show, which was great. We would certainly recommend this site to other members. We will visit again.

Great Stay

Having got home after yet another visit to Troutbeck I have to say the wardens are the best we have seen in any of the Club Sites.  Only concern for us (considering we took the grandchildren for the first time) was the sheer arrogance of drivers well in excess of the site speed limits and no consideration given for others site users.  I have witness the same unacceptable behaviour on other sites and think it's time the Caravan Club addressed the issue of speeding in general.  With regard to Troutbeck it is a splendid site and would certainly recommend it to walkers and families alike.

Lovely site

We stayed August 2016 bank holiday. Lovely site, well laid out. Only downside for us was needing to use the car to get anywhere. We tried the farm shop a mile along the a66, was really good for fresh meat etc.

Lovely Scenic Site

We arrived and had problems I hitching - we aren't seasoned caravanners yet! My friend asked a warden for help, and he was extremely helpful. We had overstretched the hitch! Problem solved. We also had a problem, which the warden solved with ease, so I can only say that they are extremely helpful. We had a pitch right at the top of the site which I have to admit has the best views. There is a variety of pitches available, from picturesque, to quiet surrounded by trees, or down beside the burn, though that might well be midge territory! The reason I gave 3 for cleanliness is not a reflection on the site itself, more to do with the state I kept finding the showers were in, left by other campers. I wouldn't like to describe on here how I found them on several occasions, but this is down to a lack of respect for the other site users, and probably this is how they treat their own home! It's not the first time or the first site that I've come across this in the showers, I just wish they were left as they were found in the first place! There was a problem with the bins being empty less often than I've seen at other Caravan Club Sites. There wasn't such a warden presence noticeable at all the other sites that we've been at, but the only problem that was pretty evident was the build up at the bins. It didn't affect us, but I wouldn't have liked being close to the bin area. Apart from these little hiccups, we stayed for three weeks and had a fantastic time. The site is in the perfect area to offer central exploration around the Lake District, which we still haven't achieved yet. We look forward to returning in the near future.

Excellent help from the wardens

Another brilliant stay at this site, we've lost count of the number of times we've been here. The site, shower block, information and play room were all to the usual high standards. However this visit we had a problem with the caravan to car cables and I asked a passing warden. He was very helpful, I didn't catch his name but he said he was a motorhomer but would ask his caravan colleague to pop round, which he did. I thanked him and said that was what he and the wardens were there for to help out and make our stay the best it could be. Thank you so much wardens!
