Cracking site

Stayed at this site many times as a break to and from Scotland, never disappointed. The Wardens very friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble, well done. Good to see the yellow posts on the grass edges to prevent idiots cutting the corners because they cannot drive/judge correctly. Facilities as with all club Sites do what they say on the tin, a shame that one of the reviewers felt they did not met their standards, maybe they would be better of in a 5 Star Hotel?

Easy access to The Lakes

Troutbeck Head club site is easily accessed and is about a 10 minutes drive from the M6. The satnav postcode may prompt you to turn into the farm before you arrive, the actual entrance is 500 yards further on.

Upon arrival we had a friendly welcome and were promptly booked in, and the site layout explained. It was good to hear a reminder of the 5mph speed limit on site (even though some still seem to ignore it). The pitches are a good size, and well spaced out. We pitched up at the bottom of the site overlooking the beck, fields, and mountains beyond. The TV signal unsurprisingly is not great, so we used the external aerial lead that could be connected to the pod that houses the EHU.

Brilliant dog walk, not immediately obvious the entrance is at the top end of the site. If you go through the gate beyond this area, you can enjoy a scenic walk for around three miles which ends up near a pub...

Showers and toilets are of a high standard, the showers are large enough to have a decent changing area so you don't get your clothes wet! Also the showers stay on for as long as you like. Ideal after a long day hiking over mountains! Toilets are clean and tidy, but the flush doesnt use enough water, so often you find things floating when you arrive/leave.

The site is generally very peaceful. We stayed over the bank holiday weekend and the site was full, still a pleasant place to be. However, perhaps not too much of an issue but if you crave peace and quiet you may wish to pitch at the top end of the site. Although the bottom end is perhaps the most scenic part, the farm next door runs an adventure centre, and often have quad bikes riding around a track which happens to go past this part of the site, through the beck, and past some of the caravans. This may just have been a busy period for them.

All in all a great site, superb access to the Lakes. Our favourite places visited are, Ullswater and Butterdale. We always discuss our own personal ratings of sites on the way home, We both agreed this one scored 8.5 out of 10

great site with a few niggles!

We have used this site many times. Great location and lovely site. However, I have a few niggles or maybe disappointments! The site was closed last year for improvements yet nothing has changed apart from those ridiculous posts to keep you off the grass. The toilets aren't the newest and most doors don't lock plus driers seem constantly out of order. The washing area is also cramped. Why did the caravan club close the site and do nothing? Secondly...the grass. Now, I wouldn't want churned up grass but at the same time the poor wardens seem preoccupied with grass and with the addition of posts it seems yet another site they have made as difficult as possible to drive a caravan round!!! Other than that, great views.

Another relaxing bank holiday weekend to recharge the batteries.

We have been visiting the Troutbeck Head site over the years and have always found the site to be of a very good standard. Our visit over the Easter bank holiday weekend was no exception. The site team were very welcoming and friendly with a good sense of humour. Both the site and site facilities were presented exceptionally well as always. The toilet facilities were immaculately presented, well heated and plenty of piping hot water within the showers and wash facilities. If there was anything negative about the weekend then that would be the weather. Typical bank holiday weekend but 'hey ho' you have not been to the lake district unless you have got wet. Will certainly be visiting again. Many thanks to the Team.

April 2017

We enjoyed another break at this quiet and well run site, which is ideally situated just off the M6 but with easy access to the Lake District National Park. We have used this site many times over the years and have always found the wardens friendly and helpful. On this visit due to family circumstances we had to leave early and the wardens could not have been more supportive. Definitely a gem among the Club network and one which we will continue to enjoy
