Our 2nd great holiday at Troutbeck since July

We returned, very sadly, from Troutbeck Head last Saturday after a brilliant holiday even though the weather wasn't brilliant. We love the site & had a pitch in our favourite place, overlooking Blencathra. Stunning views, especially at sunset. What more could you want? There was a very friendly welcome & we found the wardens always hardworking, professional, and always showing excellent customer care. The site was well kept & facilities were spotless, though I still prefer the unrefurbished facilities with their layout & underfloor heating. Nothing wrong with these though, except for the lack of a hook or shelf in the toilets section of the block! Our only real gripe is the lack of wifi & the high prices. We shall be back though, but not in high season.

Beautiful Lake District

Stayed 7 nights on our latest of several visits to this wonderful site. This time, we some what reluctantly sacrificed stunning views for a serviced pitch which gave us complete self isolation. My new mobile managed a signal and maybe Wi Fi will one day be available but if not perhaps a break from it is a good thing. Site and all of the area very busy for our stay, wardens, as we have come to expect, all working very hard to maintain the clubs standards and to keep us safe. We wish to pay tribute to the way in which the staff on all of the sites we have visited this have coped in this very difficult times. THANK YOU.

2 night stay touring the lakes....

Lovely site if a little isolated. Penrith & Keswick circa 7-8 miles away. Friendly & helpful staff when questioned about what roads should be avoided en rte to Coniston. Cocklakes Farm Shop is a must for quality & exceptional value meats, there is also a tea room there but we didn't use it. Parking is directly off the A66 up an incline but adequate parking for motorhomes. Well recommended if you have alternative transport or just want to 'chill'..... Adjacent activity centre has quad bikes & pony trekking amongst other things.

Outstanding Club Site

This was our 1st visit to this beautiful site. From the moment we arrived, until we left 3 weeks later, each member of staff we saw had a friendly smile on their faces. They all work so hard to keep the site in it’s immaculate condition. One day, one of the staff was even on his hands and knees pulling out weeds on a pitch! The facilities were obviously limited at the moment, but it didn’t seem much of a problem as guests were obviously using their own. We were on a Service pitch which are some of the best and largest we have come across. I have read a recent review where there was a grumble about a family who was staying in one of the glamming units playing football. We were there at the same time and our pitch was near the unit they were in, but I have to say I couldn’t see a problem, and members should not be put off by the glamming units. All in all, we had a lovely 3 weeks there, and the site and staff are a credit to the Club! Well done to everyone.

The best site visited so far

If you want peace and quiet and stunning scenery this is the place to go. Easy to find just off the A66 with a short drive to either Penrith or Keswick. Venture further over the Kirkstone Pass to Windermere for breathtaking views. The site itself is ideally located for a peaceful few days away from it all. The staff were friendly and efficient. All facilities were in tip top order and the wristband system appeared to work very well. Although I saw people waiting at one of the toilet and shower blocks, the one near the main entrance and serviced pitches area was always the quietest. The forest walk is a must either for non dog owners, or like us who took our dogs with us. We can't speak highly enough about Troutbeck Head and would recommend it it highly. We cannot wait to make a return visit.

Beautiful site

Just returned from a 3 night stay. Absolutely beautiful location. If you get the right pitch you also have a beautiful view...but all pitches are great. Definitely worth a visit and I hope to go back.

Great site

This is a great site, location and views are lovely, access from main routes easy. The Site Wardens are really helpful and friendly. The site itself is extremely well maintained, both the outside and the facilities, which are spotless. COVID restrictions are well managed and we didn't have to wait. There is a good dog walk directly from site which takes you up into woodland and gives you access into the surrounding area. Definitely a site worth visiting!

Our favourite , however ---

This site has been our favourite for years, however since they have put pods in I fear the worst . It was always a quiet site however we witnessed families in pods playing football outside on the road , the ball running onto other pitches etc ! Nightmare . The staff are great and will do anything to help but I don't think its going to be easy for them . Also I don't understand why adjacent w.cs in the toilet blocks are closed , so down to 2 toilets . ( you're not exactly ace to face when you're on the loo . ) . Also all urinals not in use . Pubs still use urinals so don't see why the club can't . In summary . The staff are amazing , location is amazing , just think these pods might not be such a good idea . Many service pitches have gone now to make way for them and I can see caravan etiquette not being adhered to . Hope this does not sound negative . it still is our favourite and we will be back . Full respect to the hard working , always smiling staff.

Lovely bit noisy

Lovely site and friendly wardens, facilities spotless and very good covid management in place. The only downside is the excessive noise from the activity center next door which continues late into the evening and starts very early on, 7.30 on a Sunday morning. Surely this could be better managed, all day is fine but when it goes on until 2230-2300 that's a bit much.

Handy for a quick weekend break

Stayed for two nights booked after finding "late availability". Site is just off the A66 with none of the winding through India Jonesish narrow roads sometimes found in the Lake District. Site itself is neat and tidy with nice fairly new toilet blocks. Great wardens again. Were a great help to us and it was really appreciated. Dog walk is fine but not brilliant, on a positive note the views were lovely. Covid arrangements were first class and everyone seemed to be playing the game. There were occasional queues but socially distanced and quick moving.
