Stayed at Tredegar House for 6 nights and enjoyed our stay. Site is well laid out, with generous sized pitches. Being in the park is great, especially for dog owners, as the park is huge with pretty lakes. Tredegar House, although currently undergoing extensive refurbishment and repairs, is lovely. The only drawbacks are
1) children constantly riding bikes and scooters round the site at speed, down the hill, often against the flow of the traffic. An accident waiting to happen
2) the tatty look of the toilet/shower block which is obviously over due for an upgrade. The Wardens keep the block immaculately clean, which is a credit to them, but in the ladies there was a broken hot water tap on the hand basin, so only cold tap was in use. One out of order toilet for the whole of our stay. And where various hand dryers have been replaced, the screw marks and lack of "making good" by repainting looks bad, and also in this area a missing ceiling tile. Hopefully the refurb will happen very soon, but well done to the Wardens.

another enjoyable visit
This was our third visit to this site . The start of our week started off very wet , but not being very far from many undercover attractions the weather did not spoil things as they might in a more rural setting. When the weather improved everything was wonderful . With 24 hr supermarket and fish and chips within easy walking distance . Staff as always helpful . Site as we have come to expect from carvan and motorhome club sites.
Well done the wardens, Dave and Brenda Moore
We can't prise the wardens, Dave and Brenda Moore, highly enough, they saved our holiday. 7/5/17-21/5/17.
On getting to our pitch, we found we had lost our 'van keys! I reported to the office telling them of our problem, also my insulin inside the 'van. After phoning around for a locksmith for what seemed like ages, one came out and got us in the 'van.
We love coming to this site, its always kept very clean and tidy. Always a smile and wave from Brenda and Dave, who would ask if we were OK, and could they do anything to help us.
A true asset to the club. Can't wait to return in August. Again many thanks to Brenda and Dave Moore.
Great site
This was our first visit to this site, lovely location, grounds of the house stunning. Went round the house, which was most enjoyable despit the scaffolding die to ongoing work. Visited Cardiff Castle which the site was excellent for getting to. Dragonfly pub just a 12 minute walk away, excellent food. Would come back to this site.
a hidden gem
what a wonderful gem , yes there is some road noise but oh how the grounds make up for it , what a beautiful find we have a small dog who loved the park area for walks , great location for exploring Cardiff ,Bristol ,etc plenty to do in the area
The wardens we friendly and helpful we are definitely going back again hope this time the work will be finished on the house and we can see it in all its glory .

Love this site
We love this site. We are a family of four and found this a great location for exploring Cardiff and the surrounding area. Visited Caerphilly Castle and St Fagan's Museum, both great, castle especially spectacular. St Fagan's is part way through refurbishment after major lottery funding investment, but well worth a visit while work in progress.
Newport parkrun is held in the grounds of Tredegar House next door to the caravan site. 9am on Saturday for the 5k run and 10am for the junior park run on Sunday's. Register for free with parkrun online in advance for a barcode to get your running time. This really added to our weekend away.
A special thank you to the lovely wardens who organised a colouring competition, quiz and Easter Egg hunt for the kids and made them really welcome.
A good site
We enjoyed our Easter break at T.H. As others have mentioned there is some noise from the adjacent Motorway but it's not that bad. However, we were unfortunate enough (though I suspect not as unfortunate as those on the receiving end) to have two nights where the Air Ambulance had to hover nearby to attend accidents on the Motorway.
We did the bike ride from the site to Fourteen Locks and this was an "interesting" experience in a number of ways - the Transporter Bridge was fascinating as was the ride through the estates! The visitor center at Fourteen Locks was basic but welcome.
It is a must for anyone visiting between now and August to visit Tredegar House and take part in the "Scaffold Tour". A rare opportunity not to be missed!
It's also advisable to use the East Cardiff Park & Ride - £4 for a car and family after 8:30.
Great facilities, ideal location
This was our first time at this site, and we were most impressed with the facilities - spotless and beautifully maintained. The site itself is very attractive, although the proximity to the M4 & A48 was noticeable, especially the noisy bikers on Saturday night.
As previously noted elsewhere, the hard standing base was way too hard, preventing our steel awning pegs from penetrating without buckling.
The location is ideal for all the attractions of Cardiff and Cardiff Bay (the Doctor Who Experience was brilliant!), as well as the Welsh Roman Museum at Caerleon. The Royal Mint was also a very interesting experience - we'll never look at our coins in the same way again!
We would certainly return.
