A real Yorkshire Gem

Just spent three nights at this beautiful gem in the Yorkshire moors. The site does exactly what is said on the tin. An Ideal place to recharge your batteries and wander hither and tither up hill and down Dale. Perfect for walkers and dog walkers. Chimney hill is a steep walk and not practical to use a wheelchair, my wife conquered it with her mobility scooter though, the White Horse pub is 500 yds up the hill but worth the climb and is dog friendly, the views are beautiful and the food is good as is the beer, with a real pub welcome from the fairly new owners. Back down the hill there is a pub opposite the site entrance but sadly they do not allow dogs in the pub, in the garden is ok. The other pub/hotel is the Milburn arms a short walk from the site serving good food and also dog friendly, there are a couple of cafe/tea rooms which are dog friendly. There isn't a bus service anymore, but we took the M'home to Pickering and parked in the car park to the right at the traffic lights just past Lidl. This site is very well kept and peaceful, no mobile phone coverage on site or in the village but two phone boxes within a short walk. If you want to relax and rest up a while before exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire "heartbeat" country, then this is the place for you. Highly recommended

Perfectly located gem of a site

Nothing disappointing about this site. The location is perfect and within easy walking distance of a little tea room, pub and hotels. Only a 30 minute drive to Runswick Bay and the East coast and just as close to Glaisdale and wonderful areas to walk. We will definately return

Nice if you enjoy village life !

This is a site weve been to before and delighted the same friendly wardens on site. Book in and finding a pitch easy as all are off one though road . The site is very well managed and grass short and in good condition . The key points to make is that large trees surround the site and so if you want sun choose your pitch well . Right side for sun in morning and left side for afternoon sun . The slight downside is that a road passes right by so road noise till evening but not much late at night . On the right side a river passes behind so the running water sounds will make you feel relaxed . The wildlife is stunning in the village with owls hooting and calling at night . three places to drink in the village . We went to the White Horse which is just over the bridge to left when leave site then walk 400 meters up a very steep bank and the views are lovely. WARNING the sat nav will take you to the wrong caravan site which next door to CC one so be careful and look for Caravan club signage before entering . We will be back and thanks wardens for a lovely welcome.

Peaceful site

A very basic site and own facilities a must, but very peaceful, quiet and tranquil site. No childrens facilities on site but plenty of walking opportunities. 3 pubs in the local area (one by entrance) that serve good food. Limited TV and no mobile phone service which if great if you want to dump technology and get away from it all. Good access.

June 2016

My wife me and the dog had 13 nights here in June this year it is a great site with superb wardens and very peaceful Rosedale is a lovely village with shops, post office, information centre, pubs, café and restaurant one of the pubs is right opposite the gate to the site. A great place for the wildlife and good walking right on your doorstep will come again. John, Margaret and Poppy the collie.

Perfect site! Just what touring is all about.

Stayed here for the Music in the Forest event, we were here to see the Kaiser Chiefs at Dalby Forest. Very homely and welcoming site. Friendly and most helpful wardens who keep the site in perfect condition. They are an absolute credit to the club. Really enjoyed the peacefulness and tranquility here. We only ever use the full onboard facilities on the motorhome so it was nice for once not to have to pay extra for the unnecessary toilet block. I wish all sites had this option! Just enough facilities within a short walking distance (cafe, shop, pub,) to make life comfortable and give the chef (me) an occasional night off. Looking forward to coming back!

excellent weekend

just got back from this excellent site, and was impressed by the everything about it,the wardens were 1st class ,so friendly and helpful the condition of the site is a credit to the hard work ,and dedication of all concerned. The site doesn't have toilets or internet ,but thats a small price to pay. The village has 2 pubs ,and 2 tea rooms and the walking around the site and area is easy plus the coast is only a 1 hr away . overall great site and well worth the visit and plenty to see

Lovely Site

Booked last minute for a weekend get-away, very warm welcome, can't rate the wardens highly enough, we were provided information on good walks and the local area.  The site is next to the road and although not very busy we did notice the traffic, having said that we could have pitched further away from the road.  There is no toilet block on site but the site is very well tended and cared for. It was lovely to be on a grass pitch for a change and they all looked good and reasonably spaced. Will return to this gorgeous part of the country.

a second Visit to a lovely place

I chose this site again for a few day break to explore the North York Railway and was not disappointed. A lovely site set in a lovely place. A Bit disappointing that there are no plans for any facilities such as ablution block. I know it clearly states this before booking and is price reflected but I cannot see any drainage issues. I had the temporary wardens on my visit and they were very efficient and accommodating but I did'nt feel welcome on arrival. I am sorry to state this as I have been using the club facilities for nearly 26 years. Was'nt rude, but not extremely friendly. I will look forward to another visit.
