Good site for lower Peak District

We visit the The Firs two or three times a year. It is an excellent site for visiting the lower Peak District especially for those who like walking although there are no footpaths in the immediate vicinity.   The site itself is being immaculately kept and the number of service pitches has been increased.. There are no children's facilities so not particularly good for families although nearby Matlock has several attractions including the Heights of Abraham with its cable car ride and caverns.  The city of Derby is 30 minutes drive away.

For one night only!

Had a lovely one night stay at this site. The one night only refers solely to the amount of time I could get off work to squeeze in a night away!  One of the smaller sites we've visited. We didn't have children with us so cannot comment what its like for families. The toilet block and washing facilities were excellent. It is a nice peaceful site and what makes it were the friendly wardens.  An absolute credit to the club.  We don't want much entertaining when we are away and this little haven provided the peace and tranquility we crave. It has also opened up our eyes to the wonders and beauty that Derbyshire offers. Oh and did I mention the pub just a 10 minute walk away?  Large beer garden and dog friendly. Didn't have food there just drinks. Home and refreshed and a great short break away. Ready or the next one now!!

Charming site

The Firs is an excellent site not at least from the best wardens I have come across on a CC site. They kept the site in an excellent state and was ever so helpful and friendly with good sensible recommendation for places to eat around Belper. The site is very well maintained although there is a a bit of road noise if you are close to the adjacent lane.

What a site!. Used to caravan 30 years ago. now retired started it up again. In all the years we have caravanned this is the cleanest and most organised. Wardens were very friendly and helpful. Lovely site for a couple of nights or as a stop over. Views outstanding. Certainly recommend. Eric & Sue Slaney

Just have to return

We stayed at The Firs for the first time in late May and what a discovery (see my review). We just had to visit again, even though not the most convenient site for our purpose, in late July. Maybe that says it all.

Excellent hidden gem

Lovely site in a gorgeous setting, lovely friendly and helpful wardens, great location, spotlessly clean facilities. As this is only 50 minutes from home it will be our go to site. As new caravanners, The Firs exceeded all our expectations of what a caravan site would be.

Great 4 days.

The location of this site is brilliant. It is within easy reach of Chatworth, Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock Bath all of which are great days out. It is also within walking distance of a great pub that serves good food and drinks at reasonable prices. The site facilities are immaculate and the wardens are very helpful and pleasant. Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will definitely return.

Nice site

Though only one toilet block, there was no queuing and block was very clean. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Nice views, but a bit of train noise until late evening.

Lovely site

Having just returned from a weekend away at this lovely site we highly recommend it. Very clean shower and toilet block. Nice little dog walk. We had a spot on the lower level so peaceful we felt very chilled and relaxed. Wardens very welcoming and helpful.
