A great introduction to the Caravan Club.

As very new owners (only had one night away before) this was our first 5 night stay and we are still learning loads. With the help of the friendly and helpful Wardens, and looking at how everyone else was hitching up we learned an awful lot. The site is very well kept and relaxed. The excellent and ample facilities were spotless. We were lucky to get a pitch that looked out over the Derwent valley and had stunning views from our van windows (not all pitches have these views but its a short walk to the viewing areas where there is a picnic table, if you are not so lucky). Loads to do in the surrounding area and a great spot to chill out. DO MAKE SURE you use the sites directions though as Sat Nav may take you up a very narrow steep hill with cars parked either side of the road.

Beautiful Site, One of the Best

Just returned from our first stay at The Firs. What an absolutely beautiful location. Hidden away in the countryside is this little gem of a site. The wardens were lovely and friendly and chatted away with my 5 year old. The facilities are lovely and kept clean. The information building is one on its own. The toilets are unlocked in here whilst the showers are being cleaned, this is a first for me. Within this building is a drying room for clothes as well as stacks and stacks of information and leaflets on the surrounding area and eating places. Simply amazing. A lovely quiet beautiful site within easy reach of the most beautiful surrounding countryside. Loved it and will definitely be back and would definitely recommend to anyone to stay here.

Favourite site

The Firs is now my favourite site. Facilities spotless, love the showers and wardens very friendly. There is so much to do nearby and if you're in the National Trust and or English Heritage then plenty places to visit within an hour. Many other attractions nearby including Crich National Tramway Museum, Heights of Abraham and if you fancy a nice beer, then the Bear and Monkey micropup at Ripley is the place to check out.

Stunning

We was welcomed by the very friendly wardens and given a lot of advice about the area,we have never seen cleaning done with such passion everywhere was spotless, a credit to the club. Only downside was we wanted to stay longer but it was fully booked. Great stay Linda & Bob

Excellent

We were welcomed with a smiling face and politeness. The Relief Warden was clear on where we should pitch and gave us loads of information about the site. The site was very, very clean and what can I say about the showers and toilets - absolutely clean and first rate. There was a bit of noise from the road outside, but nothing that disturbed our stay. I used this site a few years ago and it seems to have got better. Well done to the Caravan Club and the Wardens from making our stay excellent.

Spotless site, friendly wardens!

The site is lovely, very well maintained, facilities are immaculate and the wardens very friendly and helpful. It's a great site for a short break, probably too remote for a longer stay as we like to have more places to walk to nearby, public footpaths etc for dog walking and pubs. There is one pub walking distance but beware, it's all uphill coming back. We ended up using taxis to Belper and back which was fine for a couple of days. It's also only a short drive to Dovedale which is definitely recommended, breathtaking scenery and a great day out.
