Caravan Club snobs?
After spending a few days at a non-Caravan Club site with less than spotless toilets, barely warm showers in tiny cubicles with nowhere to get dressed, & a drive to the main entrance half a mile away with rubbish, what a RELIEF to get to this beautiful, clean, we'll run site near Belper!! We have clearly turned into Caravan Club snobs as we spent our entire time at the other site saying 'You wouldn't get THIS with the Caravan Club! Yes, it had a swimming pool, bar-restaurant, children's facilities & chip shop (none of which we used) but it just didn't have the basic facilities we have grown used to! The Firs was spotless, the wardens really friendly & helpful & the location is great. There is plenty to do & see round about & we really enjoyed our few days there. The local mill museum, antiques emporium & nearby Kedleston Hall kept us well entertained & there are lots of nice pubs nearby. What a pleasant site.

Great views from site, good access to Peak District
We stayed for a couple of nights in September 2016, on our way up to Northumbria. It's some way from M1, but worth it for the opportunity to visit parts of the Peak District. The site has two levels, the main part at road level and a further bay a liitle way down the hill. Pitches near the western boundary of the site enjoy stunning views towards the Peak District. A gate pass is needed to enter the site with a vehicle. The very adequate amenity block is excellent, both as to cleanliness and decor. Most pitches are good and level and the information room is very good. Thanks are due to the helpful wardens.

Lovely site
Our recent stay at the Firs was a most enjoyable experience. It is a lovely very well maintained site, everything is immaculate. Unfortunately our fridge had ceased to work the day we arrived and the wardens froze and exchanged our ice packs and offered to refrigerate food for us. Their help was greatly appreciated.
Lovely site
This is a lovely site in a rural setting but near to Belper for shopping etc. The wardens are friendly and everything was spot on. They work very hard. We were lucky with the weather and even had the beauty of a harvest moon two nights running.
Crich Lane is a bit busy in the morning and evening peak times so there is a little bit of road noise at these times if you are on a pitch near the entrance, but we didn't find it intrusive and it was virtually silent at night.
The approach is fine from the North, though the "turn and turn again onto the A6 at Morrisons" had us a bit confused. Basically you just come back on yourself the same way you came for a shortish distance. Easy to understand when you study a satellite map!
There are plenty of interesting places to visit in the area without the need for long journeys.
We will be back!

First Timer
Stayed at The Firs for my first trip out this weekend (16-18 September). I was naturally apprehensive about towing my newly acquired caravan, but it was easy to find and the final approach was not as scary as I had envisaged.
The camp wardens are incredibly friendly and helpful - as I was to discover on my arrival when my caravan took a nose dive on the grass because my jockey wheel wasn't secured tight enough when positioning it on the pitch. Lesson learned though!
The site is incredibly clean, tidy and peaceful and the shower block is absolutely spotless.
Location is great too - ideal for visiting the Peak District towns and villages.
Top marks - and thanks again for your help - a very enjoyable weekend - just wish i could have stayed longer. I will definitely be back.
Peace and Quiet
We stayed here for just two nights early August. We was on the lower section of the site so had a wonderful view overtime we popped to the toilet block! The wardens were amazing and super friendly. During our stay I noticed that unlike other sizes they did all the work on foot (emptying bins, gardening) which made the site even more peaceful. The local windmill had an open day on the Saturday so we walked there and had a cuppa. We will be sure to stay here again as it is ideal for short breaks for us.
Small serviced pitches
I found that the full serviced pitches on the first part of the site to be very small in width and length leaving nowhere to sit out once you have fitted your awning. They seem to use every grass corner to fit another outfit on ? Closing your space down even more. I ended up with an outfit next to me on a grass corner and when he parked his car next to his van left very little grass left for us to sit out on ! Had to move our chairs every time they returned so he could park his car. Not what you would expect when paying extra for a larger serviced pitch. We won't be using this site again.
Peaceful haven
A immaculate site in a beautiful part of the country with fabulous views over the Amber valley, friendly site wardens who keep the site and particularly the toilet blocks spotlessly clean. Ideal site for visiting the surrounding area and lots of lovely walks.
