Gem of a site

We stayed for the last 4 days of the season and were impressed with how tidy and clean the site was. Washing and shower facilities 1st class. Wardens were very friendly and helpful. We will be returning for a longer stay at the start of 2017 season.

Great site

A lovely site with very helpful wardens. We stayed on pitch 67 which is on the lower level and has great views across the valley as the trees had lost most of their leaves. Toilet block immaculate with top class showers. The site is close to Belper which has lots of nice shops and a fabulous little cinema. Not far from Matlock Bath and Bakewell. Enjoyed our stay and will return.

Handy location

The site is extremely well maintained and facilities are spotless. The wardens are very helpful with good local knowledge. Great for the Peak District or visiting cities such as Derby or Nottingham. Belper itself is an interesting town with good pubs and restaurants.

Small but perfectly formed

The Firs is small but perfectly formed.  The site sits across two levels with lovely views of the local countryside. Pitches were nicely distanced, and the facilities were clean and well maintained.  Other than scooting (slightly above the 5mph limit..!!) there were limited options on-site for the kids.   The wardens were very helpful and friendly - overall a good two night stay for the family.

Brilliant for walking

It is difficult to fault this site. The wardens are very helpful and friendly. They work extremely hard and the facilities are about the best and cleanest we have found whether club or private sites. Provided us with four brilliant walks for a small donation to the air ambulance. If you stay on the lower part of the site you can hear the trains on the line in the valley. However they didn't stop me sleeping after doing the aforementioned walks. We will go back.

Excellent site

Stayed for just three nights at this site, the first time we have been. A warm friendly welcome from the wardens who pointed out which pitches were available. Lovely views across Amber Valley. Clean and warm facilities, can't fault this site at all. Just a couple of niggles, kids riding bikes around the site at way above the 5mph limit and not a very big dog walk. but that is all. The site is on top of the hill, in fact you couldn't get any higher, the roads to the site are narrow in places (we tried all of them) so care has to be taken when leaving for home, some of the way is steep. we had a great time and will certainly return.
