A must visit

Visited here many times over the years. In an excellent location. Service pitches are very good albeit caravan club designers do not seem to realise waste water does not flow up hill. You will need depending on the pitch extensions pipe both for water and waste. The cleanliness of this site is the best we have encountered over all our years of visiting caravan club sites. For my wife to give it 5 stars is no mean achievement. Places you would not expect to be spotless are. A lot of wardens could learn a lot from this site. No locked toilet shower doors or toilets to save on cleaning. All open and all spotless. You will not be disappointed visiting this site.

Wonderful Site

We stayed here over the recent bank holiday - its a lovely site very well maintained by the wardens who are very friendly and helpful. If I could I would give 6 stars for Facilities and cleanliness !! Can be a bit windy in some areas - worth walking around the site to check before you pitch - some of the pitches on the lower area have staggering views. Not brilliant for children

Only our third outing with 'Bertha' our 2 berth caravan - but absolutely stunning location

Great location - shame about the trees on the lower level blocking the satelite reception but it did give us a chance to listen to the radio and read in the evenings - nerver realised radio 2 was so varied - glad the satelite didnt work!!! Very clean facilities and staff very helpful and friendly - we even extended our stay by one day with no problem Stunning location - great for adults (not much for kids apart from the countryside and Matlock Bath etc. etc.) Will come again and try to get on the lower level again despite the trees!

what a find !!!

Last minute booking to this site due to a major change to our original plans. How fortunate we were !! The greeting from the wardens was warm, helpful and welcoming. The site was immaculate in every aspect and the surrounding Derbyshire Dales an absolute delight. Would certainly revisit this site if time and future plans permit and would recommend it to anyone thinking of a break in this beautiful area. The bonus of so many serviced pitches certainly made life extremely comfortable and practically chore free.

4 Night Stay

This is the first caravan and motorhome sit we have stayed at, the shower and toilet block was spotless with nice large showers and individual basin cubicles. We stayed on a fully serviced pitch with hard standing. The site was immaculate with lovely views. The warden on site was very helpful. We will definitely visit this site again.

Quiet and good location

This is a lovely quiet site, and being relatively small, has a very cosy feel about it. Whilst not directly in a park area, there is a bus stop outside and it is conveniently located for days out in the Derwent Valley World Heritage area and the dales. There is easy towing access provided you follow the instructions, especially if approaching from the North as otherwise the turn into Broadholme Lane is extremely tight and you'd have to reverse the caravan to get round. Much better and safer to go into Belper and approach from the south as instructed. The wardens are very friendly as befits a quiet site, and the toilet/shower facilities are excellent, although we thought the site is probably more suited to adults than families with young children. The site is in two parts, the lower end being terraced with views over the Derwent Valley. Most pitches were full service types on this part. The views from the terrace and picnic area are beautiful. It's about 20 minute walk into the village to "The Spanker Inn", which is open in the evenings, but no longer serves food. The Fishermans Rest at the Belper end of Broadholme Lane also opens at 5pm, and appeared to serve food. Again, about 20 minutes walk down, but probably longer to return - uphill after a drink!! There is a small but adequate dog walk on site. Thanks for a lovely stay, we will be back another year.

Great 5 Night Stay

This is the second time we have stayed here and is one of the best sites we have visited. The location is stunning, the site is beautifully maintained and the acting wardens were super helpful and very friendly. The site is very quiet and peaceful and is probably best suited to couples. We will definitely be returning again.
