Beautifully Kept Site
This is a really well kept and maintained site with excellent facilities. It has a really good information room which has a table and chairs, where a jigsaw puzzle was set up and in progress. It was also very well stocked with leaflets about the local area.
There is a fabulous view of the Derwent Valley, you could almost call it a viewing platform as it is between the upper and lower pitches and there are a couple of picnic benches there for you to sit and take in the scenery.
We booked a fully serviced pitch for our weekend away, and it is what we got, however, it was very narrow and you had to pitch your tow vehicle in front of your caravan tight up to a bank of soil and retained wall. This meant you could not put an awning up, otherwise you would of been hammering your pegs into the actual road. It's a bit naughty really as it was supposed to be suitable for an awning.
There was nothing to be done as we arrived late at 7pm due to an accident on the roads, and it was the only pitch left on the site. As we were only there for two nights and we wanted to explore the area the next day we did not try and move.
In our opinion, pitch 49 is only really suitable for a motorhome. Or alternatively the club should make it into a seated area.
The wardens on the site are lovely and it was clear they were very hardworking people who had pride in their job, there really was no point in complaining as there was no other pitch available.
