Outstanding Site

First time to stay here, (Oct 21) sadly for only two nights, but what an excellent site, the staff are hard working and so polite and helpful. The site is immaculate and all pitches clean and well maintained. Its location could not be better, there is a playing field, children's park and exercise area just outside, lovely dog walks and you can even walk or cycle along the river. Two minute stroll into town which is bustling with antique, charity, clothes and very well stocked book shops and so much more along with many restaurant's and pubs etc. The Abbey, just outside, is a must to visit, it is outstanding, I cannot begin to write about its awe inspiring interior, you will know why when you see it believe me. The site facilities for recycling, water points, waste points are great and the all important toilet and shower blocks are spotless and second to none. Highly recommend this site for a stop over or longer stay. Such a pity it closes for the winter but cannot wait to return for the 2022 season. Credit to all the staff involved for the upkeep of such a beautiful campsite. Andrew C.

Multi-surface pitch booking

Just by chance a pitch or two became available at Tewkesbury and as we needed an overnight stop I found I could actually book a pitch type in the form of a multi-surface one. This eased my mind as grass at Tewkesbury can be a problem as the days get damper and shorter etc. These pitches are block paved, quite different from what we expected but absolutely fine. Not sure how people get awning pegs in but there was evidence they were hammered in between the joints. It was good to book a pitch type! Tewkesbury itself has improved since the devastating floods, more shops and eateries now thriving. The site is maturing after redevelopment. For the first time I attended a service at the Abbey. A sung evensong, quite beautiful choral singing, bringing alive six hundred years plus of music in the Abbey. Only eight of us there to hear this daily ancient event but personally worth the effort and also due to my own local family connections.

The best in 2021

Our first visit to this lovely site for a four night stop. A recommendation from my sister who should have joined us but circumstances prevented it. Easy to find, good pitches, absolutely first class facilities. So nice to be on a site that is most definitely within walking distance of the town. Wardens and reception staff couldn't have been more helpful, not that we had any problems. The toilets and showers are kept spotless and the facilities for waste disposal were excellent and plenty of recycling. We will be back

Lovely and interesting locatiin, worth more than one visit

Wardens great at managing so many changeovers, find your pitch first, then go to the reception so no long queuing at the entrance. Great access for dog walking around the adjacent vineyard playing fields and the Ham. Sheep do graze at the Ham, wear boots! Easy to walk to town centre to explore and shop. Also used the site to visit nearby Cotswolds while we were there. Some pitches at risk of damage (motorhome) when water logged but some good all weather pitches and full service pitches. When extreme weather passed over, wardens managed the grass pitches well. SWW installing new main drains next to site, some mud and noise but not major. Abbey rings its bells but again not obtrusive. Well worth a proper visit, we will be back.

First class site

This was our first visit to the Tewkesbury site. We stayed four nights and were amazed with all the things we could do without moving the car. From the first greeting from the very friendly warden who outlined the available fully serviced pitches (We liked pitch 88), we were very comfortable and enjoyed walking around. Recommend the Bell for food which is very dog friendly as is the Abbey itself. Indeed much of the area caters for dogs which was very appreciated. Showers were spotless and the site immaculate, bins were emptied regularly and the whole place is well cared for. We will definitely return.

Wonderful site

We have just had a wonderful 4 night stay on a service pitch at this site. The wardens were extremely friendly, they are an example to everyone. It is shame that not all wardens we have met this year are as polite and helpful. Tewksbury should feature in the Caravan Club warden training manual. This site is one of the best we have visited, in fact the car never moved from the pitch for the entire stay there is so much to see within walking distance. The Abbey is a definite visit, we walked around the grounds every day. I was surprised to read a complaint from one reviewer about the noise from the Abbey clock bells. They did not bother us in the slightest, the reviewer in question should realise that the Abbey has been on that site for 900 years and must surely take preference over a site that has only been in existence for less than 50 years. The site amenities are spotless and we have already booked a return trip in 2022.

Good Site

Stayed here on the run up to Kendal and on our return journey. The wardens are very helpful and friendly, the facilities are also very clean and the site is well maintained. The floral display at the office was a picture to see!. We have booked to return in April for a spring break..

Great location

We only used this site as a one night stop off on the way south. It is in an ideal location for us. We found the site well maintained with friendly and helpful staff on check in. The showers and toilets are sparkling clean and excellent. Good to see they are modern with lots of hot water. The site is in a great location for a short stop off being so close to the M5. It is also great for eating out as Tewkesbury is only a very short level walk away. Having been here for one night we'll likely come back fro a longer stay to explore the area.
