Great Wardens

We intended to stay here for an overnight stop on our way to Cornwall. However, our motorhome broke down & we had a nightmare with the RAC (20 hours wait) & ending up staying for 2 nights. Dawn & Mick were fantastic, supportive & helped us see the funny side of a stressful situation. Dawn changed our bookings for this site & the next site (Tintagel) to save me having to do it & allowed us to stay on the same pitch. The site itself was lovely, clean & well cared for & we would return without hesitation. Tewkesbury is a lovely little town to visit too.

Brillaint for the festival

Tewkesbury Medieval Festival is world famous and it is easy to see why...its brilliant!! Another thing thats brilliant but not so well known is that the Caravan Club campsite is right in the middle of all the action. Its a great site, friendly and well organised but as the saying goes 'location, location, location'. The High Street is wonderful and where the parade begins for the festival, less than five minute walk. The reenactments and tented village is a fifteen minute walk across the green and along a leafy lane. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely 1 night stay

We booked 1 night at Tewkesbury Abbey as we were having our motorhome hab service in Gloucester. Block paved pitches was new to us. The site is next to the Abbey and some big playing fields so this was great to exercise our dogs. Easy 5 min walk into town for food and restocking. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Just off M5 so would deffo use again as a stopover

4 night stay

The site is very conveniently situated for walking into and around Tewksbury and visiting the abbey. We thoroughly enjoyed an evening at the Roses theatre and a meal at the Abbots Table close to the entrance to the site. The facilities are modern and very clean and the site very tidy. It is very quiet at night for a large site in a town situation possibly because locking the gates at night stops evening traffic and also makes the site feel very secure at night. On a negative side the site feels very cramped when full which I suspect it nearly always is. The grass pitches seem particularly packed together. Because of the positioning of the pitches and the electric connection poles I was put in the position of having to chose between driving over two caravanner’s cables or asking them to disconnect to allow me to leave the site with my caravan. Fortunately the camper van on the next pitch left just before us allowing me sufficient space to leave without upsetting anyone by driving over their cables or asking them to disconnect. A little more thoughtful positioning of pitches could have averted this situation but I think the priority seems to be to pack as many pitches in as possible I did also despair as I witnessed someone on arrival pull the white peg out of the ground, wander around with it in her hand whilst her partner chose the best position for their caravan and then just plonked the peg in the grass where they had chosen to park up.

Tewksbury Abbey Campsite

A beautiful and well maintained site. Very friendly staff. Also very clean. Very accessible to all amenities. Walking or cycling to the town and rivers and buses. Children’s park close to site. Would definitely go there again.

LOVELY SITE

This was our second stay at this site and it was as good as the first. The staff are friendly and courteous. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The facilities are spotless and fresh. The site itself is well kept and the wardens were out and about keeping the bushes trimmed. The town is only a few minutes away with plentiful cafes , pubs and retaurants. It is also a very dog friendly town. We will be back.

June 2022

A busy cramped but well kept site in the centre of Tewkesbury, the warden working hard, always pleasant and actively participating in Jubilee Celebrations. The facilities are immaculate being new, the landscaping is now establishing but I am concerned that this will not alter the fact that the site is cramped. I can recall years ago when it was mainly grass pitches, old fashioned toilet block, it was open, feeling spacious, a pleasure to be there listening to the Abbey bells regularly chiming day and night. However we use this site for overnight stays to Cornwall and Devon, a useful stop over, a short distance from the motorway.

Ideal for breaking journeys and as a venue in its own right

This well kept site is always a joy to return to, with a welcoming warden at the gate to explain procedure. The facilities are excellent and the adjacent Abbey and town are worth a wander round at any time day or evening. A "present" left by a dog on the grass (unknown to its doting owner of course) was immediately scooped up by a warden without complaint before it could become a problem.

So glad we went back after 30 year gap!!

Calm, well organised and well run site with Wardens to the fore for their tireless entry organisation often under difficult conditions and of course their tribute to Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.

Efficiently run by friendly wardens

This isthexsecknd time we have visited this site, the wardens are dry helpful efficient, knowledgeable and approchable. On arrival we stayed in the Motor home and they came to us, taking the details, going through the rules and letting us through the barrier, this system they have adopted works very well, the wardens keep the site immaculate with a beautiful display of flowers at the entrance. Toilets are cleaned around 2 to 3pm which is much better than the morning midday cleaning. We love this site, easy access to town which is very dog friendly, great for us with 2 dogs, the fields adjacent to site is great for walking the dogs. The area is full of very interesting historical events, a site which is a pleasure to stay at, will definately be going back..Thank you Wardens for a pleasurable visit.
