Not the usual CC standard

The site had flooded on the night we booked on our way to Cornwall, but we managed to stay on the way back. Fabulous location, as you can walk into town (important when you're in a motorhome) but very dated facilities. Staff were lovely and the reception area is beautiful. However, no hard standings at all and the ground was very uneven. Would stay again, but only because of the position so close to the Abbey and town.

Wonderful Location - Dreadful Toilet Blocks

This is very much a review of two halves. We spent five nights here in September. With lovely flower displays at the site entrance, well tended grounds and pitches; helpful, friendly and efficient wardens, this site promises much. Add in the location overlooked by magnificent Tewkesbury Abbey and less than five minutes walk from the centre of town, and you should be in Caravan Club heaven. However the memory that will linger for me of this site is the dreadful toilet blocks. Like something out of the sixties, they are a disgrace. The cysterns do not fully flush the toilet bowl - ever, the showers suffer from low water pressure, and overall give the appearence of age and obsolescence. Not the standard we have come to expect from the Caravan Club. The wardens do their best to maintain these facilities in a clean and efficient working order, but they can only do so much.  This site needs urgent investment and refurbishment.

Shame about the toilets

I've been using this site for a number of years, the location is brilliant, close to the motorway links and within walking distance into the town center and a good selection of bars and restaurants. The wardens are always friendly and super efficient, ... but the toilets are a let down. I've been a member of the C.C. for over 35 years and these toilets look as old as that. The one thing that puts The Caravan Club above everyone else, is their standard of toilet/washing facilities, which in the main appear in top form across the UK, sadly not Tewkesbury.

Relaxing break in Tewkesbury

Site in excellent location. The abbey is right across from site entrance and really worth a visit.  Easy walk into Tewkesbury town which again has some very interesting old alley ways and buildings as well as riverside walks.  We did a lovely walk to Twyning for lunch at The Fleet Inn - highly recommended but beware if you try and follow the 2009 Caravan Club guide without an OS map!!  Site staff very friendly and we would definitely want to go back and spend more time exploring the town and doing other walks. Only down sides were there was a music festival a few miles away for the two nights of our stay so rather than going to sleep to the sound of the abbey bells we had the beat of bands playing until midnight. We only gave 3 for facilities because the toilet/shower blocks are quite outdated and whilst they were cleaned daily there was mildew on the ceilings in the shower areas and they generally didn't look as spotless as many other CC sites we've stayed at. That said, we clearly weren't too put off as we would definitely return!

Perfect location

We have stayed here two years running, using it as a stop-off location when travelling from Cumbria to Devon or Cornwall.  Tewkesbury is a lovely traditional town, with lots of history.  Several good places to eat, even if, (as we do), you take your dog along. Also plenty of walks along the river etc. We plan to return next year, using the site as a base to tour The Cotswolds.

What a Great Site

My Wife & I have just returned from 9 days at this site, and must say that it was one on the most enjoyable holidays we have spent. The staff were very welcoming and they were always there to answer any questions or problems that we raised. The site was in easy walking distance to the town, and it was nice to here the Abbey bells, which was very close to the site. In addition the busses to Cheltenham, Gloucester, Evesham have a very good service, also with plenty of other places to visit very close by. As soon as we can book again we will be returning. A big thank you to all the Warden's on site as you made our stay very enjoyable, and will look forward to seeing you all again in 2016.

Great site with great team!

Great location with plenty to do around. The facilities were good with plenty of hot water although they could do with updating. Key was needed 24 hours but have no issue with this. Pitching was easy despite heavy rain. Site well kept and lots within walking distance. All wardens we came in contact with were great.

Lovely site.

Tewkesbury is a lovely site, the facilities are very dated and could do with some attention, and yes it is an all grass pitch site which considering it's risk of flooding could be a major problem, but it is a beautiful site to look at with all it's greenery and floral displays and it's location is perfect for Tewkesbury, which is a lovely town with great walks by the canal and river and lovely parks to either sit quietly by the river or to play in near the beautiful Abbey, we would find it useful on all caravan club sites to include in the information room pubs and cafe's that accept you taking your dog in. I think this site could do with more showers for it's size, especially as it quite often gets full. We like this site and it has a look of being a countryside site even though it's in the middle of town, and we never fail to be amazed at the floral arrangements at reception.

Very Good

The site is very well located toTewkesbury Abbey and a very short walk from all shops, pubs and restaurants.  Excellent with a motorhome or campervan as can just leave and walk everywhere! All grass pitches so be careful with heavy rain. The shower blocks realy need updating compared to other sites but good hot water and all facilities just need a key all the time to enter. There is such a lot to do in the surrounding area, whichever direction you travel in. Just outside the site is a great field for dog walkers and our dogs really enjoyed the open expanse. Nice quiet site and found the wardens really helpful. Of course there are rules but this helps keeping the site looking smart and clean. Really enjoyed our stay especially as can walk everywhere!! Nice change.
