Great Caravan Motorhome Park

Very warm welcome from Site Wardens Wayne and Jill.. The toilet and shower block is spotless, very warm, as is the dishwashing room. The site is ideally situated for visiting many places of interest. The site wardens were so friendly, helpful and informative.. We will definitely be returning again later in the year.. Iain., Ann and Troy

Great location and excellent facilities

Spent a couple of days here last week. Weather was pretty kind to us, so got the most out of our stay. Easy to find, just a half mile outside of Barnard Castle. Everything on this site looks really new and in excellent condition. There is also a drying room which we used for our boots, saved a lot of hassle.Nice welcome and easy to get booked in and find our pitch. Pitches all seemed pretty level. A good playpark area for kids and the meadow at the far end of site is great for dog walk / exercise. Also a small dog walk area in centre of site. You can get buses outside of site. Timetables available. A short walk takes you into Barnard castle, a little bit hilly, but worth the visit. Plenty of shops and places to eat and drink. Also, in surrounding area, plenty of walks using the Right of Way routes. A bit muddy this time of year and a few hills involved, but throughly enjoyable. Really good for dogs.We had been to this area before, so know that there are loads of places to go and things to see, so location of site is great. Only minor issue is some traffic noise in the morning when traffic gets a bit busier, but that doesn't detract from my overall view. This is a really good sitre, in a fantastic location.

Excellent first stay

Excellent site. Very very clean facilities. Probably the cleanest we've been to. Road noise not a problem despite what people say. Wardens lovely. Lovely all round site. Definitely be back.

Great Facilities (but relatively pricey)

Used this site as a stopover while en route in our motorhome from Scotland to home near Cambridge, so my ratings for peace & quiet & location are possibly unduly influenced by where we'd just travelled from. We found road noise was intrusive, even in the parts of site furthest from the adjacent busy B road. The facilities are absolutely 1st class, though, & we loved the underfloor heating in the blocks. The wardens were also 1st class! That said, we thought the daily fee of £24.70 was too high when compared to the £18 - £19 we'd been paying in Scotland. We'll go back to the area to see more, but will probably look for a good CL instead of staying at this site.

First class site

This is a first class CC site with excellent clean facilities and friendly, helpful staff. The Club flags up that there can be some road noise but this is dependent on where you pitch and even on the worst placed pitches I would not consider it to be too intrusive and on the better placed pitches it is non-existent. It is only a 20 minute walk into Barnard Castle which is a vibrant little town with plenty to see and do. We are very familiar with the area and visit frequently but for first time visitors Barnard Castle makes an excellent base for touring the various places of interest in the area.

Great situation!

Sadly this was the last night of our very enjoyable holiday in the North of England. We loved the site and it's great facilities. We walked into Barnard Castle twice.... beautiful alongside the river. Fantastic few hours in the Bowes Museum, saw the unique Silver Swan perform at 2 pm...... again we'd love to return here and explore the local countryside.

Great Site

Just got back after a long weekend on this site and we had a great time only thing that spoilt it was the rain but did not put us off from the many walks with our new puppy who enjoyed his first caravan holiday, site was spotless toilet block was one of if not the cleanest seen that under floor heating was something else, wardens very helpful and always cheerful even though its there last week on site, all i can say is in the words of Arnie we will be back

A lovely clean site, with a excellent dog walking field adjacent with plenty of dog mess bins.Just a short walk into barnard castle itself, chip van twice a week, lovely friendly wardens, a beautiful part of the country and wanted to stay longer. We will return in the near future.

Great site for dogs.

Just returned from this great site. Barnard Castle is lovely and a good base to visit a lot of places. We have two border collies and they loved the three acre field for dog walking and exercise. There are some good walks direct from the site up and down the Teesdale way. As you leave the site by the bottom gate turn right and then right again onto public foot path through woods, beware can be muddy, but better than being pulled down the main road outside the site. When you see a bridge turn left and this path brings you out at the bottom of the road. Cross the road slightly left, cross the bridge over the Tees and you are on the Teesdale way. Go up the Teesdale way towards Cotherstone or go through Barnard Castle to go down the Teesdale way. Great walk for the dogs. Visits to High Force and low force recommended also. Dogs loved this site.
