The Friendly Site

I don't normally do reviews as what I write might not be what others agree with. However, I'm going to this time. I spent 4 days at this site and found it clean, quiet and nicely laid out. It has to be said though the main reason for this review are the excellent Site Wardens, Wayne & Gillian Dyer. They were so very friendly and extremely helpful. It started with a warm welcome and ended with them wishing me a safe journey. Yes a very pleasant couple. Chris Thornton

Great few days

Lovely site which will only get better as the trees and shrubs develop. We stayed here for a few days to visit Durham City and Beamish Museum, we chose this site rather than the Durham one as we were concerned about the traffic noise. The staff were friendly and polite and the facilities were spotlessly! The proximity to the town is just great as its easy to walk-in and take advantage of the amenities there. Barnard Castle is a lovely town with lots of independent shops and restaurants. We would thoroughly recommend the Three Horseshoes for great food and a lovely atmosphere. One disappointment was the wifi which we found poor - we paid £20 for access for two iPads (which incidentally was almost 25% of the cost of the holiday!) only to find that access was at best patchy, sometimes the system was totally unavailable and frequently dropped out in mid search. It is also annoying to continually have to log - in agreeing to terms and conditions every time. I feel strongly these when good money is paid we should expect a similar service. I realise that this problem is outside the control of the staff but I shall certainly be contacting the Carava and Motorhome Club directly to complain.

So good it should have been in Yorkshire!

What a great site, couldn't fault it. Clean, Attractive, Pleasant Wardens, Good Location, Easy Access.........I could go on. Only one drawback, which, as I know Barnard Castle well enough, was the wind. You know about it when it sweeps down Teesdale (but this was March). Well compensated by the surrounding countryside, don't let the wind put you off. Brian Gaunt

Another Gem

We booked here for a week, but after 2 days was taken ill. The wardens couldn't do enough to help and we will be forever grateful for their assistance. Following 4 days in hospital, I was well enough to move the caravan off the pitch. I need not have worried about moving the van as the wardens had kindly blocked the pitch from being booked. We will return soon.

Great location!!!

This was your 1st visit to Teasdale barnard castle, good size pitches, facilities always very clean & good hot showers. The walk into town took only 10mins down the hill and across river bridge where you'll find plenty of shops pubs & restaurants!! Plenty of nice walks to do,would definitely recommend this site. P.S if sites not to busy you get an option of departing later on in the day😜😜.

Barnie one of our favourite sites

Recapping previous reviews Friendly wardens, clean toilets, great location, yes there is road noise and a view of the young offenders institute but barnard castle and surrounding countryside compensate. One change over winter has been the zealous removal of shrubbery, the site is more open inline with the area managers vision but some pitch privacy has been lost, still we can see the cars/lorries better as they speed up and down, yes if you walk into Barnie please take care. Looking forward to returning in a few weeks to see what else had been uprooted 🤔 One last positive is the generous pitch sizes.
