Easter 2017

This is a lovely site. Clean and tidy as you expect from a C & MC site, with friendly helpful wardens. Contrary to a couple of other recent reviews, we didn't encounter any hot water issues (yes, we did use the shower!) Barnard Castle is a lovely, lively market town with some interesting shops and pubs. The Old Well Inn was our favorite; great food and dog friendly. Bowes Museum and Gardens is magnificent, and the area is full of staggeringly beautiful scenery and villages to match. Visit Middleton in Teesdale, Richmond, and Durham isn't too far. Only slight downsides are it gets windy, especially on the upper part of the site, and there's a bit of road noise but not enough to detract from the overall quality of the site.

A Stopover heading to Scotland

We only stayed the one night as it was a useful mid point for us heading to Scotland, the site was spotless and toilet blocks we clean to a high standard and appeared to be almost new, not much more to comment as we were only there as a stopover. My only concern is that the site is adjacent a road heading to the village, so could be noisy, although to be fair it did not disturb us on our single night stay over.

Nice site let down by hot water facilities

A very nice site and well located for many interesting places to visit. The site was immaculately clean and well kept and the wardens were pleasant. It is an exposed site in a windy location so if you have an awning take the guy ropes! The down side, for us, was the poor, (and randomly cold!), hot water system which eventually led to us getting up before 7am to have a shower. The warden said that a problem was being investigated, but clearly a more determined effort is needed here.

We will return!

This site is super, we were impressed with how friendly and clean the site was. Our only negative was when my wife went to the showers the water was cool, we were told it was to do with the solar water heating. Apart from that it was A1, we loved the dog field where our pooches could run without leads. The walk into Barnard Castle is nice and easy with lovely views and there are plenty of shops to visit as well. Thank you for a great place to stay.

Great site for seeing North Pennines area

Just back from this site at weekend having spent four nights. Overall a lovely site and 5 stars for everything really. As a help just a few points to highlight: lovely big field to walk your dog as well as a second dog walk to rear of site. of course you may experience a little of the road noise if you pitch to front of site so note that the lower area is a little more sheltered from the road and also the wind !! Good security you are given a fob to enter the site. We were surprised at paying high season rates when it was not even the week before Easter and not school holidays but that is a comment which needs to be asked to the club itself. Would thoroughly recommend this site with just a fifteen minute walk into 'Barney' with good shops, chip shops and pubs selling good food. Drive north towards Alston and view low and high force waterfalls nit to be missed. Also just up the road near the reservoir is the former property of Hannah Hauxwell who has been the subject of documentaries and books. Now known as Hannah's meadows. Thanks to the wardens for their cheerfulness and pleasantness Hope to visit again

First trip this season.

Excellent site and location for an initiating first venture of the new season, particularly for adults looking for a quiet, early getaway. Helpful wardens. Area renowned for its scenic tranquility. The site in no way detracts.

Has to be the best one yet.

We have stayed in quite a lot of club sites but this has to be the best yet. Spotlessly clean and tidy, very friendly and helpful wardens. In nice surrounding countryside and excellent for walking. Will be back for a longer stay later in the year.
