First but not last

This is our first visit to Barnard Castle Caravan Club Site and we are sure it won't be the last. Our owners have been so impressed with the cleanliness, arrangement of pitches and general helpfulness of the Wardens. They say it is amongst the best run sites they have visited. Us? We just love the meadow and the well maintained dog walk. Well be back. Seth and Dan🐾

Second Stay - Stopover

This was our second visit to this site, but this time we only used the site for an overnight stop. The site is pleasantly located in countryside just outside Barnard Castle and is very conveniently located for travellers on the A66 so good for stopovers as well as longer stays. The site facilities are very good, all pitches are open and sunny and fairly level. We arrived late in the day, and tired, but just in time to catch the visiting fish and chip van. The fish and chips were very good, and can be recommended. There is some traffic noise from the adjacent road, depending on where you are pitched and the time of day, but we wouldn't let this stop us visiting again.

Barney Break.

Had a two night break here last weekend. Have visited previously and found everything to be as good as ever. Excellent warm welcome from the wardens who maintain the site in excellent condition. Toilet block is kept spotless. Great location on the outskirts of Barnard Castle (Barney) that can be reached along an attractive riverside walk. Upper Teesdale is a beautiful area with many walking opportunities from the site and farther afield. The spectacular waterfalls featured on BBC Countryfile (22.04.17) at High Force and Low Force are not to be missed.

First visit

This was our first visit to the site and area. The site was first class in a beautiful part of our country. So impressed by the warm welcome to the site by the wardens on our first visit. The best yet. Excellent facilities and pitches. Could not find any faults. Will definitely book again.

Over nightb stay

We only stayed one night. We were warmly welcomed by the warden who explained the site and the local amenities. The facilities were very good and the excellent hot shower was welcomed. Could not find any faults.

Easter weekend break.

Our second visit to this site. Although very busy when we arrived the Warden was pleasant, quick and efficient in sorting out all the new arrivals. The shower block was modern and very clean. Although there was a sign about a fault with hot water we did not experience any problems. The site is situated a short walk from Barnard Castle which is a delightful market town. The Bowes Museum is well worth the visit.

Easter 2017

This is a lovely site. Clean and tidy as you expect from a C & MC site, with friendly helpful wardens. Contrary to a couple of other recent reviews, we didn't encounter any hot water issues (yes, we did use the shower!) Barnard Castle is a lovely, lively market town with some interesting shops and pubs. The Old Well Inn was our favorite; great food and dog friendly. Bowes Museum and Gardens is magnificent, and the area is full of staggeringly beautiful scenery and villages to match. Visit Middleton in Teesdale, Richmond, and Durham isn't too far. Only slight downsides are it gets windy, especially on the upper part of the site, and there's a bit of road noise but not enough to detract from the overall quality of the site.
