Yet another pleasent stay!

After yet another visit to the site, I cannot understand the previous reviews, no club site I have visited in the 20 years of been a member has the toilets cleaned twice a day..the toilet facilities are very clean, the site is looking really tidy,  the flowers at the entrance make a very warm welcome, as given to all members on arrival by the wardens

Getting away from it all at Sutton On Sea

We have just returned from a relaxing 2 night break at Sutton on Sea. A very relaxing well looked after site, make sure that you follow the guidelines for getting to the site as the road is very narrow. Site well kept, great pitches, nice to have the choice, not too close together and with plenty of room. Just one shower block, never had to wait for a shower the water was hot and plentiful, as mentioned block would benefit from a quick going over in the evening especially the floors. Location is on a very quite lane, so nice and peaceful. Our daughters enjoyed being on their scooters and using the small playground. Overall 4*, would have been nice to have had pub in walking distance!

Mixed feelings!

We have just returned from four nights staying on this site. Firstly the good points. All of the pitches are level, the site is lovely and quiet, all pitches spacious and some pleasant walks nearby. Now for the not so good!. The toilet block... One block for the whole site and it's cleaned once a day at around 10.30am. During that evening the state of the loos and showers are not good at all and left us feeling unclean. I would suggest wearing fliplops in the showers as a must. The toilet block needs cleaning at least twice a day in my opinion.  The hard standing pitches had not been weeded, we pulled up a few with deep roots suggesting they had not been regularly tended too. Would we visit again? Yes the good bits out number the bad.. With a bit more tlc this could be a very very good site

Great weekend

We have just had a lovely weekend at this site, the site was immaculate, the grass beautiful, the wardens very friendly and very helpful. We had booked a grass pitch as there were no hard standings available at the time of booking, but the evening before we got a call informing us that they had a cancellation and this was more suitable than grass for our large motor home.  The offer was most appreciated and was accepted. Don't be put off by previous reviews these new wardens have everything ship shape.

Peaceful and relaxing

We managed to grab 4 nights here while our daughter was away on a school residential.  We fancied a quiet and relaxing few days and that is what we got.  The site is immaculate, neatly cut grass with attractive trees dotted about.  A mix of mainly hardstanding and grass pitches.  The shower block is of the usual club standard and the reception also sell basics.  We will return.

spoilt by constant grass cutting

Nice site. Stayed for 3 nights and had to listen to 3 days of grass cutting. It seems to have become a caravan club obsession. On the bright side should have taken my bowls !

Soggy Shower

Our first Caravan club site stay. Our first problem was finding the site as our GPS took us to Crabtree lane but there is a Caravan club Certified site at this location also, so we pulled in to get off of the narrow road, thinking that this was the site. Unfortunately it was not and we had to unhitch the van to enable us to turn around and get out of the wrong site. The actual site is only 50 yards further along the road and we thought that a sign would be good to let visitors know that the main site entrance was ahead?  We chose this site as it said "The site is conveniently located within walking distance of shops and places to eat." Well the local hotel come golf 19th hole is about 15min walk and we did see another pub come local store a couple of mins down the road but the local beach has nothing and the actual town with shops is about 1.5 miles and a fair walk away. So not much choice for a evening walk for a meal, local takeaways do offer a delivery service however. As for the site it is quiet, tidy and well laid out. We pitched in a space backing onto Crabtree Lane which did have some early traffic which is a bit of a shock as it was so quiet all night. We also heard the bird scarers from the local farm.  Unfortunately we found the showers to be a bit inconvenient. This is mainly due to the poor number of small hooks to hang clothes. The shower head is also unmovable so when you turn on the shower it soaks the small change area unless you have the curtain closed. This is great if you already know this but one usually likes to stand back from the shower until a pleasant temperature is set. With a wet floor it is not possible to get dressed without soggy trousers! We would also comment that although our sat nav told us to turn Left when leaving the site a sign recommending a right turn for caravans would be helpful as getting off of the narrow road to let local cars through can be a bumpy wet and muddy experience. The site has a shed with lots of local information which is very good.

Great site but not enough locally for dog-owners

This is a really lovely well-kept site. We stayed over the Bank Holiday weekend and it was full, (apart from the grass pitches which weren't available), and it was still peaceful with no big queues for the toilet block. The site is an easy walk to the beach, (20-30 minutes depending on your speed), which is great for kids. There are restrictions for dogs on the beach at certain times of year but this wasn't an issue for us. Our only minor negatives are the ladies loos ran out of toilet roll and why do the general sinks still not have mixer taps to avoid scalding, hence the Facilities score. (A 'hot water' cautionary sign above the sink is not sufficient when there are other permanent options). We would recommend this site, and the only reason we wouldn't stay again in the near future is that the area generally doesn't have enough, (restaurants/pubs/places of interest etc),  for us as dog-owners.
