October was better than April!

And that's because the nearby bird scarer wasn't working! Spotlessly clean, as always, wonderful wardens - the A153 was closed at Tattersall Bridge when I came and according to local radio was going to be closed for 2 or 3 weeks. Mentioned it to one of the warden team and withing minutes a notice was up in the toilet entrance advising all visitors who may have to travel that way. Only got hardstandings in use at this time of year, but that didn't matter, the site wasn't quite full. Local amenities, although a bit reduced because of the time of year, were still open and very enjoyable. Sad to see one or two shops in Sutton on Sea have closed permanently since April, but Mablethorpe is only a few miles up the coast and they were fully open for business. Really enjoyed my stay again this year, as did my wife and our grandchildren. Had some wonderful neighbours who chatted and exchanged ideas, especially about air awnings. Great time, recommended for everyone, although if the grass is wet (as it was when we were there) you do need to keep a close eye on young children to ensure they don't get wet and muddy!

A Pretty Site

Our first tour of Lincolnshire so a first to Sutton on Sea.  We received a very warm welcome from the wardens and were advised not to get our wheels on the grass due to heavy rain making soggy ground.  No problem we have a seasoned driver, not one of our 12 tyres touched the grass!  The site is quite shaded by trees which might cause problems to Satellite signals.  During our stay we had extremely windy wet weather but luckily we were not under trees.  The toilet block was very clean and functional but does need updating.  There is a splendid beach where you can park about a mile or so from Sutton on Sea towards Skegness (no parking charge while we were there).  Also the Fat Seagull is worth a visit for lunch.

sea sutton on sea

showers need an update roads are narrow which does not help when trying to get on your pitch without going on the grass the site is in a off the beaten track position and in and the lighting is not good poor location at todays standards the lack of a dog walk is not good and having to go off-site at 23.00 hrs onto a non lit lane is a no-no nice wardens the pitches are laid out well there is plenty of area on-site for a dog walk also i think service pitches could be introduced to 10 pitches

Our recent holiday.

We enjoyed our stay at Sutton on Sea. The wardens and assistant wardens were very friendly and helpful. We do think that the toilet block and roads around the site are in need of updating. We will visit again.

Reminiscing around childhood holidays

Haven't been to Sutton on Sea for years, used to go there as kids, still a good beach and away from the hustle and bustle. The Crows Nest on the High Street is a great place to go for a coffee or pint, whichever takes your fancy, really friendly. The site was quiet and well maintained, good for families, plenty of grass to play on. Facilities were normal CC standard, clean & functional but would agree not the most modern. site roadways quite narrow so can be tricky to get on pitch without going on the grass. Staff friendly and helpful. Visited Alford on the way home, not much open on a Sunday, but good chance to take a peaceful wander around.

Getting tired

Been visiting twice a year for past 4 or 5 years now, but finding toilet block now in desperate need of upgrade- hairdryer almost in bits, toilets don't flush properly, shower cubicles small and looking dated-compared with other sites we visit. Love the area, wardens ok but only saw two men this time and we were there a week, won't stop going but noted in this months magazine Bridlington having money spent on it yet only been open a couple of years !

First Visit

Lovely site friendly wardens, Papers delivered, fish and chip van visits. Raining and a bit windy when we were there. definitely need transport to go anywhere. overall a nice break. with regards to the showers being hot as a previous review said you just need to turn them down no problem.

Another little gem

Again, another first visit and having checked out earlier reviews and photos of Sutton on the web we were somewhat sceptical of what we might find. We were very pleasantly surprised. Easily walkable to the beach, but further to the town.  Good pitches  with openness and shelter. Thankfully we chose well as this was an out of season windy weekend. Showers were hotter than on most sites but not too hot. Yes they are older than many but I'm sure their turn will come. Mr Warden was obviously having a grumpy day when we arrived. Either that or small talk isn't his forte. Try the Donkey Sanctuary up the road for a quick visit. Free to get in (we left a donation) and great for kids to feed the well cared for donkeys of all shapes and sizes. Although it has a basic cafe there isn't much else though.  We had a good break and already planning a return next year.

First visit won't be the last!

This was our first visit to this gem of a site. From a cheery welcome to a final wave from the hard working wardens this was a super first visit. The pitches were very large and well drained and set in a mixture of trees and open spaces. We we're able to get good sat tv reception which was useful as the weather was terrible. The toilet blocks are absolutely fine, clean with good controllable showers. Both Sutton on Sea and the beach are walkable and there is motor home parking at the rear of the Bacchus hotel at Sutton, handy for the beach or a dog friendly meal. A site we will be returning to again and again!

Sutton-on-Sea Site

This was our first time with the Caravan Club after many years of camping. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the site and the very helpful and enthusiastic staff members. The pitches were roomy and close to all facilities. The toilet and washrooms were immaculate and well presented. A very enjoyable weekend.
