First visit to the newly revamped site. Good toilet block, nice and wide pitches and the usual helpful wardens. Two gripes, the gate leading to the public footpath(near to play park) to Sutton has been closed off! This was a great shortcut as the road can be dangerous with locals using it as a rat run. Secondly, do not pitch close to the toilet block as the plant room makes a racket especially at 3 am! Will I come back, certainly a great site close to the sea.
Love this site
We love Sutton-on-Sea and we love the site.
I have to admit that I thought I would see more of a change after it had been closed for so long. Don’t get me wrong, I have no complaints – new electricity posts must mean a safer environment and more modern washrooms are great – but I thought the landscaping may have been updated.
The best bit about the new showers? The benches. It means there is plenty of room for your clothes without danger of them falling onto the floor.
The site is great - it’s an easy walk to the prom and then a lovely walk into Sutton and Mablethorpe – just take a torch if it’s dark.
Again, I think so much more could be done to promote the difference between the bins and so it is clear what can be recycled.
We'll Be Back !
This was our first visit to Sutton on Sea for more than 30 years, but it won't be that long before we return next time.
The site is beautifully located in quiet countryside, offering excellent peace and quiet, whilst at the same time within walking distance of the beach and the amenities in the quiet town of Sutton on Sea. The site is very well looked after by the ever friendly wardens, and the recent refurbishment has been a great success as evidenced by the numbers on site during a lovely week in late September.
The toilet and shower block is of the usual very high standard being set by the Club as it revamps our sites, and power, water and waste disposal are all in plentiful supply convenient to all pitches.
Following refurbishment, pitches themselves are excellent in all regards, with easy access to all.
One slight word of caution - chose your pitch carefully if sunshine is important to you. Some pitches, including the one we had, are in cool shade for the whole day at this time of year, so if you prefer sun and warmth, check before you choose and set up.
Just two reservations to, reluctantly, highlight.
On two separate occasions we had dogs off leads roaming around on to the pitch without owners in sight. How this happened is not for me to speculate, but it is not the first time we have had this on various sites recently. The Club has rules about this which most dog owners follow. However, as is often the case, the less courteous minority is in danger of creating difficulty for everyone else
Second point is I'm afraid also with regard to dogs. This site does not have a dedicated dog walk, and from our pitch close to the exit, we saw many owners taking their dogs off-site for walking. Unfortunately, we were also treated to the sight of many dogs using the grassed area opposite, which houses 6 pitches, to relieve themselves. Whilst appreciating that owners cannot control exactly when their dog chooses to do this, such frequent use of that area in this way by dogs cannot be hygienic for those on those pitches, which might include children, and it does, I suspect, encourage other dogs to do likewise. I don't pretend to have the complete answer to this problem, but perhaps if dogs have to be taken off site for walking, owners might consider keeping them off grassed areas, especially near pitches, and keeping them on roadways until they reach the dog-walking area itself.
Overall, however, this was a most enjoyable visit to Sutton on Sea, and I heartily recommend it. I know that we'll be back
shocked
As we were driving to this site we started to remember we had been here before, my wife flicked through our diary of sites we had stayed in but know Sutton on sea? Then it dawned on us as we saw a sign saying hawthorn farm my head dropped the last time we were here the book said never again. We had booked so in we went, the wardens were really pleasant and guided us to our pitch. The pitch was really good plenty of room for van awning and car, the toilets had been updated so was another plus, ( the last time we were here the toilet block was terrible.)
This site is now a great site the wardens are superb and have a laugh and joke with everyone, sandy beaches within walking distance will definitely return.

site is in a great position to the town and sea front
just had a week here and it was excellent, the new toilet block superb with more cubical s than other caravan and motorhome sites i have visited but never the less which ever site you go they are all to a high standard, would definitionally recommend this site
Family heaven.
We didn't have kids with us but would suggest this is a cracking site if you do. Beach with plenty of sand, good access points and plenty of non-commercialised space to set up no more than a mile away should be enough for them to let off steam. It wasn't bad for our energetic dog either! If I'm honest this wouldn't be our usual type of location as we are hill walkers normally and there certainly aren't any of those! Having said that, the area did have a number of short walks (3-6 miles) in the vicinity and we managed to find a few slopes when we ventured into the wolds. Our reasons for picking the location, part recuperation, part to cross the area off our "still to visit" list, in particular the Wolds and Lincoln. Both well worth a visit. If foodies like us then Louth also well worth a trip - excellent cheese shop and butchers. Having said that, the local butchers in Sutton also provided some excellent BBQ fare. We did have a slight issue with road noise as our pitches backed onto the access lane but this was execerbated by the timing with harvest gathering so numerous tractor and trailer units were thundering up and down. My last comment is not specific to this site unfortunately but is that repeat issue ref speeding on site. As I said this is an excellent site for kids and it was great to see so many out on bikes and scooters as well as on the play area ( real throwback to my own childhood caravan memories) yet still there were numerous examples of people exceeding 5mph. In fact there were very few who did. You can tell cos if you change out of 1st gear, you're going quicker than you should be. We even had one car speed round the alternate road near the Motorhome service point just so they could get round quicker, and that was near the main "kid drag" When are members going to start thinking of others and not themselves.
seaside site
This site is easy to find and we were met with a good and well organised welcome as there were a number of outfits arriving. The site was quite full but we found a good pitch which was very spacious. The facilities on the site had been refurbished and they were excellent. The site was very quiet and relaxing and only a short walk or cycle from the beach. we could ride our bikes along the coastal path to Sutton and Hutton which made it safe for the children.
The wardens kept the site well maintained and the facilities clean - this was only spoilt by the guests not cleaning up after themselves in the washing up area, toilets and showers. There is no dog walk on this site which resulted in dogs being walked on site and fowling on your pitch and urinating up trees - really annoying when your eating outside and someone lets their dog fowl right next to you! also dogs were walked on long leads so could run onto your pitch before the owner was visible and in some instances dogs were roaming free.
Damage to the newly refurbished facilities was also a problem through heavy handedness or laziness - the amount of unflushed toilets in the morning was unbelievable.
Pitch etiquette was also a problem children running and riding bikes through pitches and playing football on the grass areas with full size footballs. Even an incidence of adult coughing and spitting on the side of the pitch. I'm not anti children, I have 2 of my own but they know how to behave and where they can play and they avoided the park on some occasions as it was too boisterous.
Summing up this is a lovely site with good facilities and wardens, in an excellent location, spoilt only by the behaviour of a few selfish individuals. Wouild like to return but perhaps earlier in the season.
Much improved.
Visited Sutton on Sea site again, and this visit was so much nicer than previous ones. The site has undergone many changes/ improvements , and now seems better all round. The toilet block is second to none, and always clean. The site now has serviced pitches, in the loop, near the facilities block. All in all, a very nice site .
A nice holiday
This was our first visit to Sutton on sea and were suitably impressed, our party was my wife and I and our two chihuahuas.
On arrival we were greeted by a friendly member of staff who directed us to the arrivals lane and asked us to wait until we were called, the reception staff were friendly and helpful which made us feel very welcome.
The site facilities were excellent and were well maintained. We found that the hard standing pitches were reasonably level however when erecting the awning we found that in some places screw in pegs would not work so had to resort to hammer in pegs some of which bent on finding large stones in the substrate. I would definitely suggest rock pegs or similar.
Another point is the access road to the site in some areas is in very poor condition having cracked and subsided it is to be hoped that the local authority will do something to rectify this.
Overall this is a really nice site that is only a short walk from the beach at Sutton on sea, there is also a good selection of shops in the village which is about a 40 minute walk from the site.
We will be returning here for another visit in the not to distant future.
Fantastic family holiday location
Just returned from a glorious holiday at the site. The new shower block facilities and play area were fantastic. The site was fabulous for a family holiday, it was brilliant that our children had some freedom to go out and make friends on their own, with us knowing that the site was safe and secure. The beach is just a 15 minute walk away, and it was only a short walk from the beach in to Sutton on Sea itself. Lots to do in the surrounding area for us to do as a family, Butlins, Mablethorpe, Skegness, but really the highlight was the beach and sea (the weather was very kind to us too). The kids want to go back again next year.
