Perhaps we just timed our stay wrong? Perhaps we just picked the wrong pitch? Who knows? Our first ever stay on a CAMC site (at the highly regarded Sutton-on-Sea site) was a little sour and I don’t think we will be rushing back anytime soon.
Firstly, the location is great for access to Sandilands Beach. It was less than 20 minutes walk away. However, there isn’t much else to do around Sandilands, so be prepared to walk quite a while for anymore activities.
The toilet and shower facilities were excellent (if you timed it right) but on most occasions I had to do a little bit of extra cleaning myself, because some campers are far too lazy and don’t leave the toilets as clean as they should. It’s unfair on the Wardens to leave the toilets in such a state, especially with all the extra Covid Secure arrangements.
We didn’t really find the site peaceful at all. This was probably down to it being the school holidays though, I suppose. Oh, and having residents of Poplar Farm Campsite (behind the CAMC site) shouting and laughing into the early hours on a hot summer evening.
I’m all for kids playing and enjoying themselves, but please do it around your own pitches. It’s a shame the Wardens didn’t ‘coach’ the kids playing ball games around the motorhome service point in the middle of the road, when they were so quick to tell a 4 and 5 year old girl off for riding little electric scooters in front of their own pitch next to ours. They weren’t our kids, but it seemed nonsensical when teenagers are allowed to race around the access roads on bicycles, scooters and skateboards creating more of a hazard.
I’m sure this site is great for a lot of families, but it just wasn’t for us. Shame.
Great site, a good all rounder.
Visited for 11 nights recently, and could not fault it. In these very difficult times, there are social distancing schemes in place from the moment you arrive. Only 1 person is allowed in reception at any one time, with floor markings in place. Booking in is straight forward with clear information given out. As on previous visits here, the site was very clean and welcoming, even if it was pretty full most days. The shower blocks were cleaned more than usual, with a restriction on numbers entering to 4 at any time, with a wristband system in use. Despite the best efforts of all the wardens, and signage, it was clear that yet again, the site rules and very good advice, did not apply to the "few".
Pitches are mostly level here, the site well laid out.
It is one of our favourites, handy for seafront walks or cycle rides, with Sutton on Sea nearby.
If you've not visited, you should. It suits all.
Good as always
Had 4 days which was great. Most shops etc were open in sutton not to many people so was easy to social distance and feel safe. The site was was prepared and with the new restrictions did not cause to much disruption to daily tasks regards shower block etc.
The 4 days we had was a breath of fresh air after been stuck in for so long. so well done the club with all they have done to prepare for club members returning to days away.
Very nice
I forgot to post my review after staying here recently 11th July, after just reading the review below it’s prompted me to immediately post. This is a lovely site, immaculate and the wardens were some of the friendliest. It must be a thankless task most of the time but in particular at present with people constantly complaining, I think they all do a wonderful job across the network. I’m shocked at comments below regarding urine, could it have been from a dog? We never had to queue for the brand new spotlessly clean toilet block and the site was full. The walk from the site to beach was nice, little confusing directions. We loved the quiet flat country lanes for cycling. Sutton on Sea as a village is ok but the beach is nice. Would never go back to Mablethorpe or Chapel st Leonard’s, dreadful run down old seaside towns, a shame but would go back to The Wolds area.
Nice clean site, not very welcoming to newbies.
We arrived at the site and headed into reception, the welcome wasn't very friendly and they expected us to know everything even though I explained this is only our second trip out with our new van.
Anyway, after driving round a few times found a pitch we thought suitable. Set about levelling the van etc. Fitted the awning and proceeded to hammer in the pegs, it was then i noticed the overwhelming smell of urine coming from the hardstanding, I understand they don't clean the pitches but it was unpleasant, I can't fathom whey someone would urinate on the pitch, several times by the smell, when the toilets where so close. Unfortunately by the time we had got this far the park had filled up so couldn't move.
Facilities are excellent and spotlessly clean, however the staff on site were really very ignorant and on 3 separate occasions saying Good Morning etc.. we where totally ignored. Seems a little bit of a snobby site, people staying on adjacent pitches where pretty rude too.
Kids play park is closed even though the government lifted that ban.
An eye opening experience, we hope all C&MC sites are not like this. Worlds apart from a non C&MC site we stayed at the weekend before.
I doubt we will be back.
Peace & quiet. Top marks
Sad to leave the site today as it went into virus lockdown. Luckily we were there for first week of opening. Site was well presented, very tidy and clean. Toilet block was spotless. The wardens were helpful, happy and friendly and we enjoyed the odd chat at a distance. Good luck for the future and keep safe The area has some lovely quiet beaches, perfect for long dog walks. Will definitely be returning later in the year.

Amazing
Amazing beautiful facilities and amazing wardens so friendly and helpful. Best shower I have ever had. Better than shower at home so powerful and hot. I shall return again and again no doubt. Thank you
Excellent wardens
This was only our second trip with our new caravan and we had an issue with no water. We asked a warden for help after we had exhausted all our ideas. He checked to make sure we had turned everything on ok which we had. He then checked the pump going from the barrel to the caravan and found the fault. He mended it and showed us what to do in future if it happened again. Nothing was too much trouble. I could kick myself for not getting his name as he was a fantastic ambassador for the club.
This site is a lovely site with some lovely beaches close by. The upgrade is excellent with a really good toilet block.
Sutton on Sea / favourite site
Sutton on Sea is one of our favourite sites at any time of year.
Even before the refurbishment we enjoyed staying here, the refurbishment of the site has certainly improved the overall quality. The toilet block is far larger and the quality of finish first class.
Have booked 2 more stays there for 2020.
