A Haven at Stonehaven

This is a very quiet and well maintained site with a very clean toilet block and prep/ dish washing area. There are also good clothes washing facilities.  Sharon and Don the wardens are lovely and can provide a wealth of knowledge. They are willing to help if possible.  This is a lovely site and you are on the outskirts of Stonehaven with a 5 minute walk to the centre of town. There is a lovely beach walk also which is suitable for wheelchairs also. There are several lovely cafe's nearby which are reasonably priced. The open air swimming pool is right next door, it certainly was not noisy when we were there but don't know about the middle of summer. There is a bus stop nearby where you can travel to Aberdeen, Dundee, Montrose and a few other places if you wish. I will certainly return here.

Excellent site in lovely location

The facilities at this site are up to usual caravan club standards. Some pitches up by the road and leisure centre do suffer from some noise but we managed to avoid those. The site is quite open (trees and bushes not matured yet) and overlooked by a number of houses. But it is a perfect location for a short stroll into town along the promenade. Award winning fish and chip shop (the Bay) just outside, nice bistro (Tolbooth) and pub (Ship Inn) in town. Lovely walk along the clifftop to the war memorial and castle. We will definitely be back in the summer months when the lido is open - it is right next to the site and looks great in the photos.

Well placed site

I have just had a one night stop over at this site with my campervan on a tour of the east coast. This is a well placed site within easy walking distance of the town of Stonehaven. A good sea front location with very good toilet and shower facilities as expected from a caravan club site. Very friendly helpful wardens. The pitches are very open as the tree planting has yet to become established. Apart from a gentle hum of the nearby leisure centre air handling which is only noticeable if you have a pitch next to the building, and the road that runs along the west side of the site it is a fairly quiet site. Great coastal walking and the leisure centre has a good swimming pool along side the quaint outdoor lido pool. Well worth a visit and as it is a busy popular site I suggest that you check online for availability and possibly book ahead.

Chose this site as it is in ideal location for motor home being so close to town etc. Also close to station so we were able to travel separately and avoid a late fri night drive. Site reflects the large investment made in it. Despite cold weather and forecast we had lovely weekend with cliff walks visit to town, meals out at Bistro close to site and local pub in harbour area. Wardens exceptionally friendly and helpful. Pitches are very large and toilet block prestine even on BH weekend with site full.

Little Gem

Two night stay at Queen Elizabeth in April during a break in the weather with sunshine and blue skies following a brief spell of sleet and snow. Site was immaculate and wardens were friendly and offered useful advice about the town of Stonehaven. Plenty of recreational activities around the site with a promenade leading to the harbour where we used the Ship Inn for a meal and drinks. Just outside the site gate is an award winning Fish and Chip Shop. Pitches were level and clearly marked with well trimmed grass. This is a site that we will definitely be returning to.

Great Site

We stayed on this site for 3 nights last weekend and although we had snow, sleet and rain all in one day we still had a fabulous time.  The site is in a great location right opposite the beach with a lovely walk along the promenade into the town centre and beyond. We walked to Dunnottar Castle along the coastal path which is a lovely walk and well worth the effort.  Like so many others we enjoyed fish and chips from the Bay which were excellent but the queue was really long so it took around 45 minutes to get them but worth the wait!  Wardens were very friendly and the facilities and site were spotless.  Will certainly be back.

Lovely site

Just spent a couple of weeks on this site. New wardens very friendly and helpful and keeping the facilities lovely and clean. Site nice and tidy. Shame about the irresponsible dog owners allowing their dogs to foul on site.

Stonehaven Stay

Had a week here in early April. Not difficult to see why the Site is so popular. The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful, ready to assist if asked, but never too intrusive.  The Site is well up to Club standards being opened fairly recently and will benefit when trees and shrubbery have established. It is well situated next to the foreshore and it is a pleasant walk into Stonehaven town centre and harbour. All supplies are available in town, including some small supermarkets. A 24 hr superstore is available in nearby Porthleven for major shopping. An excellent fish and chip shop is a couple of hundred yards along the esplanade. The queue is a testament to the quality of the takeaway food on offer ! There are plenty of attractions in the vicinity to keep caravaners occupied, including families, with the heated seasonal open air swimming pool and leisure centre adjacent. Some noise is heard from the adjacent steep road, but this was not too intrusive. An excellent site to which we will return when we have a slot for the 350 mile round trip. One small complaint, nothing to do with the Caravan Club.....why do some caravaners insist on walking through other's pitches.....one male member kept walking so close to our caravan on his way to the toilet block that he tripped over our caravan step on one occasion !! And there was a through path provided ten yards away !
