Great

Enjoyed our stay here very much. Staff are friendly and helpful. A well kept site in a lovely area. Good shops in the town, 2 really good pubs by the harbour (especially the Marine), and the best fish and chips and ice cream on the doorstep! We travel as a couple, so I can't honestly comment about the site's suitability for children, though I guess it's really good.

Excellent site

Got the smell of the sea as we arrived at the site - lovely.  Right next door is the 50m open air swimming pool, a great facility much enjoyed by us and the grandchildren.  Easy walk into town which has good facilities - butcher, baker, supermarket and a decent pub at The Ship Inn by the harbour.  Caught the X7 bus to Aberdeen and had a good day out there.  Wardens at site couldn't have been more helpful.  Definitely warrants a return visit.

Lovely Location

We stayed at this site for 8 nights on a serviced pitch. The location is very good just a walk along the prom to the shops and a longer walk to the harbour which has an ice cream shop which must be visited, various flavours to try. There is two public houses in the harbour area where you can sit outside and enjoy a pint in the sun. If you are able to walk to Donnottar Castle past the war memorial there is a truly outstanding view out across the sea, there is a catering van and toilets in the car park for refreshments should you require them. Lovely site lovely area great wardens we will be back one day hopefully sooner rather than later!!!

Reserved pitches

I read with interest the last review regarding red cones placed by the wardens to reserve pitches. If the writer had been disabled in any way, then I am sure they would be more than happy with this arrangement. As it is, it did not deter us in the slightest and I think it is a very thoughtful and considerate act by the wardens. Talking of the wardens; they could not be faulted in their hard work and dedication to everyone and everything on the site. They worked long hours and still had a smile and a cheery word for everyone. We have been to this site before and will return. Highly recommend it to anyone thinking of going.

Stop Reserving Pitches

I thoroughly always enjoy my stays at Stonehaven. The site is in an ideal location near the beach, the town and great recreational facilities. It is also handy for the X buses to and from Aberdeen. Being a newly upgraded site from the old council run site, the facilities are first rate and conveniently located in the middle of the site making easy access for everyone. And, that is the point of this review. I cannot understand why Stonehaven seems to be in the vanguard when it comes to reserving pitches for certain categories of members. One of the great things about the CC is that pitches are taken on a first come first served. However, at this site the morning I left there were at least 3 pitches with red cones on them reserving them. I do not know the criteria for reserving a pitch but one of them should not be the possession of a blue badge. One of the criteria for a BB is being unable to walk 20 metres without hardship. Given that the facilities are in a central location, unless someone is extremely disabled ie unable to walk at all, there should be no need to reserve any pitch. Last year at Stonehaven, I arrived saw a pitch I would like to take and was told it was reserved for a 'disabled' person. I took another pitch and when the couple who got the reserved pitch arrived , they sorted themselves out and both proceeded to walk into the centre of Stonehaven which is a good ten minute walk. So either the CC have a pitch booking system similar to Braemar have introduced or stop reserving pitches for anyone and get back to first come first served.

Nothing isa problem to them both and ensure that your stay is catered for. They have a high standard and maintain it well. Thank you for looking after our site.

Fantastic Stoney

This was our 3rd stay this season.  Fantastic location, walking distance to the beach and town.  Great walks and walking maps provided by the lovely wardens who were very helpful and extremely friendly.  Very busy site so booking well in advance is a must.  Also just next to the Art Deco outdoor swimming pool with its salt water warmed to a very bath like temperature, which is very pleasing in the Scottish summer weather!  A visit is a must.

Very Nice Site

We visited this site in May 2016, it is a very busy site so would recommend booking in advance, the site is of the standard you expect from the Caravan Club, the staff were hepful and friendly, the site is very clean and tidy and the pitches are all very good, the showers and toilets were clean and tidy at all times, we got a really good information pack about things to do on arrival which was great, I would recommend this site for Stonehaven and surrounding area
