A lovely site

We have just had our first weekend of the year at this site and we were not dissapointed. The weather was bad with very strong winds and light snow over the weekend but it didnt stop us walking into the small town which took a slow 10 mins as it was hard going with the weather and negotiating all the driftwood that had been washed up on the path. The wardens were very friendly and had warned us about the path into town on our arrival. We only used the toilets so cant comment on the showers but everything was spotless and warm. It would have been quiet if it hadn't been for the wind. There were a few vans also braving the weekend. Despite the weather we both enjoyed our stay very much and would definatly go back but with hopefully better weather

Great staff

We spent our New Year break at this site. The staff were very friendly abd had a night mare due to electric breakdown on several occasions. I have read various reviews re this, what were the staff supposed to do other than what they did. The sad fact is that some campers on site wereusing to much electricity. However I believe this is an annual event and the club have donenothing to uograde the supply. The staff as I have said were great. A small gesture of a free night by the club was gratefully received. To finishwehad a great break and enjoyed all Stonehaven had to offer. We will return to this site

Excellent site/not so excellent electric supply

Always enjoy going to this site. Excellent facilities and site wardens, used this site on many occasions but we were disappointed with the power outage over the new year weekend, this happened the year before also. Showers/toilet block also out of order due to power cuts. Will use this site again as it is excellent but will not use it at new year until the electricity problem is rectified.

Hogmanay blues

We stayed on the site for 3 nights so that we could take in the New Year Fireballs in Stonehaven. We arrived a little before 12.00 on the Saturday (30th) and were welcomed by very cheerful and polite wardens. After pitching our caravan we decided to settle down to a nice peaceful and restful afternoon in the van. Reclining suitability watching tv seemed like a perfect escape for me, I relaxed and watched some rubbish repeats blissful in my laziness. All was well until the electric went off. Up I got, shoes on and out to check the circuit breakers at the electric post. They all were on so it was back into the van to check the circuit breakers in there. Then I noticed that all the light posts around the site were off, several people were also making a beeline for reception. Shortly afterwards the power was restored, but only for a short period before going off again. And so the cycle continued for the late afternoon and early evening. Before bedtime I went to have a shower only to find the toilet block locked. The next morning the power went off several times, the warden went around the vans on site asking people to be frugal with their power use. During the afternoon I went to use the toilets only to find them locked again. New Year’s Day morning started off very frosty, unfortunately the electricity hand gone off again resulting in us having frost both inside and out on the windows. A happy new year blighted by such an awful experience on this site. Having spoken to other club members who had stayed there the previous Hogmanay the same thing happened then

Great site next to the beach for a winter break

All l can say is that it is a great site to stay at, the staff are very friendly and helpful and welcoming. The site is spotless at all times. You are right next to the beach with a little walk into the town for the Co-op and local shops and also the Bay Fish & Chip shop just down from the site. There is not much more l can say apart from it is an excellent site to stay and l would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic site

We spent 4 nights here with our grandson from 14th to 18th October. Excellent location next to beach and promenade walk. Spotless facilities and pleasant, helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble for them. Ideal location to explore local sights e.g. Dunnottar Castle ruin and Crathes Castle and grounds a few miles away. Excellent Bay Fish and Chip shop and Ice Cream parlour 5 minutes away. And Leisure Centre with pool next to the site. We loved our break and plan to return in the Spring.

Superb Stay at a Great Site

Another lovely stay at Stonehaven, brilliant site, spotlessly clean, very helpful wardens, and great fish and chips at the Bay, nice beach and harbour at the entrance to the site, nearby Dunnottar Castle is stunning it’s a good walk up the paths so you need to be fit and active, it was a bit wet and windy but didn’t put us off, co-op supermarket and good local shops in town within easy walking distance or Asda and Tesco a short drive away, lots to see and do around, short drive to visit Aberdeen itself or for a more relaxed day visit Lunan Bay about 35 minutes drive away for a nice walk along the sandy beach and sand dunes, see the ruins of Red Castle, there’s a superb farm restaurant only yards away from the car park serving good food, a great day out for a picnic and walk with the dogs, loads of others places to visit
