Dogs favourite!

We have been to this site many times, it is one of our favourites and less than 50 miles from home, great for a weekend with THE best fish & chips from The Bay. Our 2 dogs love the walks by the sea, through the woods and in the park. We love the new addition of music in the facilities block. Now, this being the seaside there are seagulls, which can be noisy especially when they have young, I love the sound of them (we also live near the sea) Strangely enough dogs bark, it's their way of communicating, dogs love holidays too, we wouldn't dream of going on holiday without our 2 dogs!!! I think we need some new sited dedicated to the moaners who clearly don't enjoy their holidays, or maybe they need soundproof caravans!

Noises site full of dogs

This is a nice clean site on the sea front - we didn’t get a very warm welcome from the wardens - we intended to stay here for 2 nights but at 4am in the morning the seagulls started crying this went on until past 6am then the dogs in the site started barking. We live in Cornwall by the sea so we are used to gulls and their noise but here it was just unbearable. Hence our move from his site to another after just one night.. With regard to the dogs - this site had so many dogs that when one started barking another did and then another - the Club really needs to be more strict with these arrogant dog owners who think it’s ok to sit and allow their dogs to bark. We have been a dog owner ourself and never really saw the need to take our dog on holiday with us very often but when we did we certainly don’t allow it to bark everytime someone walked by. Come on Club - sometime needs to be done. On their trip we visited a private site which allowed NO dogs and that was such a quiet lovely site - perhaps the Club could have some NO dog sites too?

2nd stop towards NC500

1st time in the area, superb location. Excellent facilities. Very handy for getting to either centre of Stonehaven itself, further round to the old harbour area or a cliff top walk north to the old Chapel.

Fabulous time.

We have visited Stonehaven before but never camped here. We arrived here after travelling from a Private site in St Andrews. My goodness what a contrast! The wardens here were so welcoming and helpful. The pitches were spacious. Facility blocks immaculate. We felt at home straight away and our pitch had a lovely view looking towards Stonehaven. On this occasion we had our daughter and two grandsons with us. They enjoyed playing their outdoor games and riding their scooters. The shower blocks were so warm and bright they enjoyed their trips to the shower. The pebble beach is right outside the site where there are many rock pools to search and stones to skim. The local land train also stops at the entrance of the site and took us all the way to the dramatic Dunnottar Castle and back. The whole family enjoyed the massive ice creams from the local parlour and the fish and chips. We even tried a deep fried mars bar from the birthplace in Stonehaven. We had a dip in the outdoor pool and walked the prom. Plenty to do here and a fabulous location for touring. We’d love to return and would highly recommend it. Thank you so much to the wardens who managed to secure us an extra nights stay. Really appreciated it! Well done on keeping such a wonderful site!

Fantastic location and facilities for families

We stayed here for 2 nights on our recent epic journey north from the Midlands to Orkney staying at caravan club sites a long the way. This was a lovely site to stay at in an excellent location with great facilities. Pitches were great as you would expect and wardens friendly. The location really made it. A short walk to a nice sea front with a great fish and chip shop (allow time to queue!). Lovely ice cream/ sweetie shop next door too and well maintained public toilets. Stonehaven centre was a short stroll along the front and had a bank/ coop/ etc. Also great kids play park near the site outside the indoor pool. The outdoor pool was great fun. Couldn't recommend it more!

Great location

This well located site is usually quiet and peaceful. The whole site is clean and tidy; the shower block is immaculate. Staff are efficient and friendly. A pebble beach is directly across a quiet road, Stonehaven centre is a few minutes walk away and the best fish and chip shop in the world (according to Lonely Planet) is a couple of hundred yards away. In Wednesday evenings in the summer, it is far from quiet as the open air pool next door holds a weekly disco from 10 until midnight. However, staff made us aware of this when we arrived so we simply opened the windows and sang along with the music! I was tempted to go, but settled for a pleasant swim on a sunny afternoon instead. Stonehaven is a delight with a pretty harbour, great local museum in the old tollbooth, apparently run by Jim, an entertaining volunteer.

Always a great site to visit

I always enjoy staying at Stonehaven, due to the pristine site & deserved 5 star status. The wardens are a credit to this site as they work tirelessly to keep in its current condition. My wife & myself try to visit this site at least 3 times a year due to being brought up in Stonehaven & always gives me the fondest memories of my childhood. If you are looking for a site you can chill out you can’t beat Stonehaven The Mathieson’s

Love this site but..

Lovely site, clean, friendly and well laid out pitches. I note that a speed limit for vehicles while driving on site has to be adhered too and often wonder why this is not extended to cycle users. More oftener than not its children/teenagers who cycle but some adults also participate, I have on many occasions witnessed cycle riders going well over the speed limit in place. If cycles are allowed to be used there should be clear and concise instructions to all with regards to the speed limit and/or an area provided for children to cycle in. I never see parents supervising young children on cycles and are often staggering all over the road or on the grass between caravans and motorhomes. Who is liable if a child / young adult damages anyone's unit? The club? This is not the only site to have this problem maybe someone needs to take a look at this. Just an observation but it could be a costly on.

Good little site.

A great little site st the edge of town, within walking distance of Stonehaven, and 100 yds from the sea front. Despite its location, close to the town and near a road was remarkably quiet and peaceful. The weather was kind so visited nearby Dunnottar Castle. Toilets immaculate, wardens friendly and WiFi pretty good, what’s not to like.
