Well worth the drive

Having travelled from Lincolnshire to the St David’s site we were ready for a rest and this proved ideal ,on arrival we given a friendly and warm welcome from the wardens and booking in was simple even with COVID restriction The site is very open and all pitches are grass and mostly level the view of surrounding hills are well worth the visit .The beach is an easy walk down but steep coming back but if you time it right you can catch the little coast bus which will drop you near the site. The beach itself gets very busy but small beach can be found along the coast. A visit to St David’s Cathedral which about a 25 min walk a way is worth visit .The Drive was worth it.

Made the holiday

Came here from Shawsmead (see review) and it made the holiday, location and views are perfect, really friendly staff always doing their rounds and chatting to the members, nothing too much trouble. great local beaches & harbours all within 5 mile, nearest beach within walking distance although quite a steep hill back up, plenty of parking for £5 day at the beach. Lagoon excellent for cliff jumping. Shop & take away on the adjacent site 100 meters walk. Easy walk to st David’s well worth a visit, we will certainly be back. Cornwall without the crowds. Note: A485 at Solva a bit tight for large outfits if anything large coming the other way.

Heaven on Earth

What a beautiful site this is with wonderful walks around the coast with coves and beaches in abundance. We stayed for 11 nights in this piece of heaven and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves including our dog. The local bus every half hour stop right outside free if you are over 60 and have the Welsh bus pass so no need to drive out. My hat goes off to the wardens who go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. On our last evening Thursday July 29th and into the early hours of Friday the 30th 2021 a real windy storm blew up and the wardens were out patrolling at about 5.00 am checking everyone and everything was ok. Well done you guys you are real stars ⭐️

Perfect for walkers and dogs

Lovely site and efficient wardens. Place was kept clean and tidy and was run well. Location was perfect for us although we were a bit put out that the local Whitesands beach doesn’t allow dogs in the spring/summer months. However, we stuck to all the lovely walking paths with a view of it instead. Dramatic scenery and you can walk as little or as much as you want. The walk into St David’s itself is around 30-40 minutes and takes you past the palace ruins and through the cathedral gardens. Will definitely return.

Great location. Not family friendly

Stayed here over half term. Great location for walks, beaches and local bus. Plenty to do in the wider area as well. Children (9 and 12) were very disappointed, playground is for young children only. No ball games allowed and nowhere to cycle for children. The Neighbouring site looked far more modern, well kept, family and eco friendly and was cheaper. Just needs a bit of tlc and updating. Being in a national park we expected a more environmentally friendly site. Large dog walking area. No facility for washing wetsuits which I've never encountered at surf beach location site before. Lots of attractions nearby.

Stand by your beds !!!!!

We found it to be a nice quiet site but not much going on around in the vicinity. Dogs not allowed on the beach but when the tide is out there is a very small beach you can use - for a couple of hours!!!! The toilet block is too small - taking into consideration covid restrictions when fully open it would struggle to cope with demand. We spoke to 4 other couples who had been questioned about their set up, awning location and electrics by the warden. Some had huge set ups and were left alone plus not positioned as requested - front left pegs. We have a motorhome and pay for the same size pitch as a caravan but we have no car so we loose out. It would be sensible for MH's to park centre of peg (with no car) so the awning/day tent can be pitched within the boundary allocated giving enough room for the fire break - we are the paying customer ! CAMC your prices are creeping up, we know you have been closed due to covid but be fair please to your loyal members.

Short Break - Massive thank you from us

We have just returned from this lovely site after a short 4 day break. I wanted to thank the staff for their support when my husband took poorly on our first day and ended up needing to go to hospital - the staff members were extremely helpful and concerned for both our welfares which made a traumatic experience a little easier. The site is well maintained and has fabulous views, we used the hopper bus and were able to get to see quite a lot of the surrounding area although we only had a couple of days. Whitesands Beach is well worth a visit as is St. David's with lovely shops and places to eat plus the Cathedral which is stunning. We will return one day soon..

2 night stay touring north to south....

Followed the handbook instructions to access the site. All grass site but no tents! Lovely location within walking distance to the lovely beach of Whitesands Bay & coastal paths. Surfers paradise, if you indulge..... I can't comment on the shower/toilet block as it was closed until the day we left. Hopper bus service stops at site entrance. Next time will explore more. Recommended.

Wonderful setting. Great for walking and dog owners

Excellent location with great views from the site. All grass pitches and quite an exposed site but we were lucky with the weather for our 5 night stay. Staff were very friendly, helpful and worked hard to make this a must visit. Superb for dog walking as many walking options immediately from the site. However dogs will need to be on leads most of the time as lots of sheep and livestock in surrounding fields. Whitesands beach is stunning but not dog friendly from May to end of September. Coastal walks are stunning as are views across to Ramsey island. Minibus pick up service at the gate helped people go further afield for walking options. A half an hour walk gets you into St. David’s for the cathedral, eating options and a decent sized local supermarket. Definitely will return

Lovely site in a stunning location

First thing to be aware of, is that next door is a private campsite, that shares the same postcode, and the entrances are less that 200 yards apart. Lovely, well managed and looked after site, set slightly inland from the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline. As always, staff very welcoming and full of local knowledge. Even the powercut that affected the site on the Saturday (outside of the staff control), was not really noticed, and we were kept informed with regular updates, power back on by 5pm. Whitesand Bay can be reached comfortably by using the footpath from the site, but you can also drive and park there for the day, go surfing / book a surfing lesson, or enjoy the beach and the cafe. In the opposite direction and a bit further away is Blue Lagoon, most definitely worth a visit. St Davids itself, is a stunning little city (it is the smallest in Britain), recommend a visit to Chapel Choclates, Petes Plaice (Fish and Chips), and the Veg Box (local foodstuffs) We did not have time to go out on one of the boat tours advertised on site, but looked well worth a trip at some point, and seems good value for money, especially as club members are offered a 10% discount whilst we were staying there. The site is also the start point for The Coastal Way (Ffordd Arfordirol) 180 mile route, 5 days, so we will be back to do this in the future If you want to stay on a nice, quiet site, with stunning views, and local beach access, this is the site for you.
