Beautiful campsite spoilt by the behaviour of a wa

We have stayed in Lleithyr meadow a number of times but this is the first time I have felt the need to write a review and a negative one at that. Beautiful location with a 15 minute walk to Whitesands bay with excellent quiet cycling nearby. What spoilt the holiday for me was the behaviour of a particular male warden. On an almost daily basis initially I felt I was being watched and told off by particular male warden- not allowed to put anything on the fence, not allowed to put up a washing line, we agreed that we would take it down but he demanded that it should be taken down immediately. He was quite intimidating. The toilet block does not close at 10 am but at 9.50 the wardens were standing guard at the toilet block entrance preventing people from going in. Shouting at people to wear mask as they approach the toilet block, saying it was the law in Wales (which it is not- guidance is to have face coverings). Warden driving on their lawn mowers faster than 5mph. One neighbour told me they were told off by the male warden within 5 minutes of arrival. Welsh signs clearly translated by google translate. I would not to return to Lleithyr meadow whist that warden is still there. I am going to look how much it costs to join the friendly club.

Brilliant place to stay

Lleithyr Meadow Club site was a brilliant place for a quiet, restful holiday. With prior warning, we avoided towing through Solva, which is pretty and worth a visit, but a bit hairy with the caravan behind; instead we went almost up to Fishguard on A40, then cut through to the A487 South, at Scleddau which was an easy route. My partner, who is new to club site caravanning, was really impressed by the general friendliness and the high standard of the facilities, in particular, the cleanliness of the shower and toilet block and the excellent attentiveness to the maintenance of the pitches. The wardens were really kind and caring, happy to answer questions and really pleasant to chat to. We walked round the coast, visiting the plentiful dog-friendly beaches; we also discovered the Celtic Coaster shuttle bus which saves driving and parking and is cheap and frequent. St David's Cathedral was very interesting. The shops in town welcomed dogs like nowhere else I've ever been! My only gripe was with visitors to the club site who didn't dispose of used toilet paper in the toilet but on the floor, who didn't throw their hairballs from the shower in the bin or make sure toilets were flushed properly - wondered whether children were responsible and if so, whether parents could remind them of ways in which they could respect facilities, as the poor wardens must have been left to clear up after them. Hopefully this was just one or two careless people, not a general problem.

Can't wait to come back

We had a fabulous 10 nights here mid August 2021. The site is beautiful, quiet, immaculate and friendly. The staff are helpful, fun and always smiling. The walks from site are amazing. The weather wasn't at it's best but that didn't detract from the local beauty. We took the detour to avoid Newgale and Solva as recommended which was well worth the extra couple of miles to avoid some very narrow, busy roads. If you have a dog as we did then Newgale Beach is worth the 10 mile drive. Hand sanitiser everywhere and most guests wore the requested face masks in the washroom facilities. We will definitely be back next year.

Relaxing Break

We had five nights on this site in mid August. This was only our second holiday in our Campervan and as newbies we found all our enquiries were met with friendly and helpful advice. The site was very busy but remained quiet and peaceful. The washroom and toilet facilities are excellent and clean and although busy we always had ready access to them. We found plenty of information for local walking and St. David's is within a 40 min walk. The site was perfect for us as an older couple but not much available for younger children and ball games are banned. We had easy access to the coastal area in our Campervan but I think it would be difficult in any larger vehicle. There is a bus service but we did not use it. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it.

Lovely site with fantasticlly helpful wardens

We booked a weeks stay here at end of June/early July for me and my wife in our motorhome. The site is in a beautiful and quiet location a few minutes walk from Whitesands beach and about 25 minutes walk from St Davids. We got a friendly welcome from the wardens and found the facilities to be very clean. Unfortunately, on the second day I suffered some unexpected seizures and was taken to A&E where I remained for 10 days leaving my wife, who does not drive our motorhome, at Lleithyr. It turned out that during the seizures I had also broken a vertebrae in my back and it also meant that my driving licence was immediately cancelled. As you can see an unexpected and somewhat challenging situation! The wardens on site and our neighbours were quickly on hand to support my wife when it happened and arranged access for the emergency services on site, where getting an unconscious person out of a motorhome provided them with quite some challenges! I like to say that the wardens were fantastic, not only at the time but also subsequently when we had no idea what the problem was, how long I would remain in hospital or when we might be able to travel home which is some 5 hours away. They visited my wife every day offering to help with daily chores such as water filling and waste/toilet emptying. They also offered to fetch any shopping, as local shops are not within easy walking distance. In addition, many other club members on site asked after me and offered similar support to us which was really appreciated and very welcome - thank you. Eventually we managed to return home some two weeks after our holiday should have ended. We have never been in a situation like this and I’d like to say just how impressed we were with the Lleithyr site’s Wardens help. This really shows what a superb club we have the privilege of being part of. Thanks to everyone who offered their help and support.

Well worth the drive

Having travelled from Lincolnshire to the St David’s site we were ready for a rest and this proved ideal ,on arrival we given a friendly and warm welcome from the wardens and booking in was simple even with COVID restriction The site is very open and all pitches are grass and mostly level the view of surrounding hills are well worth the visit .The beach is an easy walk down but steep coming back but if you time it right you can catch the little coast bus which will drop you near the site. The beach itself gets very busy but small beach can be found along the coast. A visit to St David’s Cathedral which about a 25 min walk a way is worth visit .The Drive was worth it.

Made the holiday

Came here from Shawsmead (see review) and it made the holiday, location and views are perfect, really friendly staff always doing their rounds and chatting to the members, nothing too much trouble. great local beaches & harbours all within 5 mile, nearest beach within walking distance although quite a steep hill back up, plenty of parking for £5 day at the beach. Lagoon excellent for cliff jumping. Shop & take away on the adjacent site 100 meters walk. Easy walk to st David’s well worth a visit, we will certainly be back. Cornwall without the crowds. Note: A485 at Solva a bit tight for large outfits if anything large coming the other way.

Heaven on Earth

What a beautiful site this is with wonderful walks around the coast with coves and beaches in abundance. We stayed for 11 nights in this piece of heaven and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves including our dog. The local bus every half hour stop right outside free if you are over 60 and have the Welsh bus pass so no need to drive out. My hat goes off to the wardens who go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. On our last evening Thursday July 29th and into the early hours of Friday the 30th 2021 a real windy storm blew up and the wardens were out patrolling at about 5.00 am checking everyone and everything was ok. Well done you guys you are real stars ⭐️

Perfect for walkers and dogs

Lovely site and efficient wardens. Place was kept clean and tidy and was run well. Location was perfect for us although we were a bit put out that the local Whitesands beach doesn’t allow dogs in the spring/summer months. However, we stuck to all the lovely walking paths with a view of it instead. Dramatic scenery and you can walk as little or as much as you want. The walk into St David’s itself is around 30-40 minutes and takes you past the palace ruins and through the cathedral gardens. Will definitely return.

Great location. Not family friendly

Stayed here over half term. Great location for walks, beaches and local bus. Plenty to do in the wider area as well. Children (9 and 12) were very disappointed, playground is for young children only. No ball games allowed and nowhere to cycle for children. The Neighbouring site looked far more modern, well kept, family and eco friendly and was cheaper. Just needs a bit of tlc and updating. Being in a national park we expected a more environmentally friendly site. Large dog walking area. No facility for washing wetsuits which I've never encountered at surf beach location site before. Lots of attractions nearby.
