Super site with outstanding wardens

We have just aŕived home after six days at this super site. No need for a long review as everything is positive. Having said that worth a special mention are the wardens who kept the site spotless whilst still finding time to chat. Oh for the good old days!

Lovely peaceful site

This site is ideal for walking or cycling and Whitesands beach is only a short walk away or take the local minibus right down to the beach. There is no shop on site but the neighbouring site has a shop that sells a good range of goods, pubs or restaurants are a drive or bus ride away and there is nothing within walking distance. The site is kept very clean by the friendly staff and the heated shower and toilet block is up to the usual standard I expect from a Club site. Boat trips to Ramsey Island can be taken from St. Justinians which can be reached by the minibus that stops at the site entrance, a £3 all day hop on hop off ticket can be purchased enabling you to visit St. David’s or a number of beaches.

5 Star location abused by members who either don’t clean up after themselves or abide by notices to the public.

First time visit and went for the Jubilee weekend. St David’s is a 25 minute walk away or a bus ride which appears every 30 minutes …. Did both during stay. Also walked a 9km route around the local scenic area taking in fields, hills, coastlines and beaches….stunning. Site is all grass and spacious pitches provide the peace and quiet adequately, that is unless near by C&MC members have sent their kids over to play ball in front of you. The “No Ball Games” signs were everywhere by the way! Toilet blocks were sparkling post the daily cleaning work done on them however it is surprising how many of the C&MC members these days feel it unnecessary to leave facilities how they find them ie clean up after themselves. It was noticed by me in the Gents but from what my wife tells me, it would appear that the Ladies were worse……sadly this also appears to be the case in other C&MC sites too…..unfortunately. Please clean up after yourselves and your kids and take note of the signs left around at specific sites rather than ignoring them! Great site, would definitely go again but hope I don’t book the same time as the grotty members that booked over this Jubilee weekend……you know who you are!

Lovely site

We stayed for a week and enjoyed the area, there is so much to see and do. The blue lagoon, coastal paths walks, seals everywhere and Ramsey island boat trips, Porthgain, Whitesands beach for the surf and cafe. St.Davids being the smallest city in the UK is quaint and super friendly. The minibus picks you up from outside the site and for £3 each, you can hop off/on until it finishes. Facilities are spotlessly clean and the block closes from 10.15 to 11.15 so not to inconvenient for us and there is a toilet open round the side when staff are cleaning. As previously stated in previous reviews all camc sites that do not have a dedicated play field are not allowed to play ball games and I am pleased this was enforced, members trying to play cricket, rugby and footballs surrounded by extremely expensive outfits is an accident waiting to happen..

Gorgeous setting - not suitable for all.....

This is a spotless site in a truly gorgeous setting. The views are spectacular and it is a lovely peaceful site. As previously mentioned, there is no shop on sire, which isn't an issue as there is one on the neighbouring site with the bare essentials. Supermarkets are few and far between however in this part of Wales so either go prepared or be ready to travel to get to a supermarket! There is one in St David's but parking is limited or you need to pay. The walk into St David's itself is lovely, but takes about 40 mins and has some steep hills and is on narrow roads - so not for those with poor mobility. Football (and all ball games) are banned on this site. We've never come across this before on a Club Site so our children were very disappointed - worth noting if you have older kids who might not want to spend their time on the swings. The nearby Whitesands beach was lovely, our highlight was the Blue Lagoon and bay at Abereiddi - absolutely stunning. Take your body boards and paddle boards - the sea is crystal clear, if a little bracing! We would also highly recommend the fish and chips from the Shed Bistro in Porthgain while watching the sun set. Take care on the narrow roads on the approach to the site. The toilet/shower block closing at 10 was not an issue for us - they do keep a toilet open for the duration is you are caught short!

Go prepared!

Beautiful location for this site with lovely walks in every direction. However there is absolutely nothing on site in the way of provisions. No milk, no bread, no gas nothing. You are asked not to put glass in the mixed recycling bins as it’s too heavy for the wardens to lift. The toilet blocks are closed for cleaning at 10 am, which if your on holiday can be a tad early. Appears to be run for the convenience of the wardens. The narrow dog legged entrance to the site needs careful negotiation so as not to kerb your vehicle or trailer.

Beautiful, clean well run site with very helpful hosts

A quiet, but truly beautiful site, with lots to do if you like walking and the outdoors. Hosts are very welcoming and helpful, and the facilities are excellent and very well looked after. Easy access to the Coastal Footpath, Whitesand Beach and St Davids is in easy walking distance, or there is an hourly bus from outside the site entrance if you prefer. St Davids Cathedral is a must, and although a bit of a drive, Skomer is well worth a visit, particularly in spring and early summer. Puffins are totally unafraid of people, and the rabbits don't run away ! There have been comments about the lack of a shop - true, but the shop at the adjacent public site is only 200 yards away, and has most things you need. We stayed for 4 nights, but will be back !

Great Peaceful site in a lovely setting

Access roads a little narrow in places but take your time & all will be fine. Warm & friendly welcome from the sites staff who are only too happy to help. Toilet block clean with a separate wc when the main block is closed for cleaning. Childrens play area (not tested as no Children) but the kids looked to be enoying themselves. No longer a shop on site but the campsite next door has all you need. Bus service from the site entrance to Whitesands beach (walking distance) & also St Davids. The site is all grass awning pitches & the staff work hard to keep the site looking great.. Porthgain is a well worthy visit with its harbour & history plus pub & chippy.Pembrokeshire coast is stunning with a recommended vist to Solva/Newgale/Stumble head & fishguard.

A little disappointed - no shop.

We have stayed here a number of times and previously awarded a 5 star review. The staff were friendly. The dog pit stop is a great improvement on having to walk up the lane to allow pooches to do their thing. In addition there is now a gate which means dogs can have a little mooch off lead. The gate seemed secure, a simple latch. The shower block is spotless. There is less disturbance from rooks these days as most of the trees have gone. Although personally they didn't trouble me. The pitches are flat and seem to drain reasonably well. There are lovely walks from site around Carn Lidi and the little cove of Porth Melgan is a delight. The ice cream kiosk at Whitesands Beach sells lovely ice cream. So why you may you ask only 4 stars. Well, there is no shop at all. No gas, no chemicals, no milk, no bread - absolutely nothing. (Although you can go next door to the neighbouring site!) I understand that this a permanent state of affairs - not just covid related. I have enquired of caravan club what the situation is and I await their reply. The site is often very windy. Peg your awning down well!
