First visit but we will be back.

Spent five days here in August with the Grandchildren. Generally speaking the weather was good which always helps, however I was pleasantly surprised by Southport itself. What a lovely place with something for everyone. Furthermore, other than the ice-cream vendors, prices seem to be fair, especially in the fairground. The site is well placed, far enough away from the hustle/bustle of the town/city but within walking distance. I have noticed some criticism of the "new part" of the site, but having pitched there, found it preferable to the old part, so its all down to individual taste. Everything was up to the usual CC standards with the staff being both helpful and friendly. Children on bikes can be a problem and I`m sorry to spoil a positive review, but we found them out of control at times and I`m sure its an accident waiting to happen. Unfortunately, this doesn't only appertain to this site and is becoming a serious problem and I cant offer a quick fix. Overall, we loved it and will return as "Arnie" says.

Second Visit

We are still pretty new to motorhoming, but we've visited a few sites now and feel more qualified to comment.  We enjoyed a six night stay in August, primarily for the Flower Show, which was practically next door.  The wardens were helpful and efficient.  When I needed an emergency appointment at a local doctors they helped me decide which one to go to.  The toilet blocks were nice and clean.  The site is well tended and flat, but we still needed levellers.  It is easy to walk into the town centre and the wildlife sanctuary across the road was delightful.  We will be back next year and possibly before if take a winter break there.

Been to this site lots of time and i love it,but  the new site is like a caravan storage area. The sooner the club get the landscaping sorted out the better.Iwould also like the wardens to loosen up a bit.

Exercise your dogs OFF site !

We have stayed on this site quite a few times now and always enjoyed our stays before , but this time we were fed up with dog owners exercising their dogs on the grassed areas of vacated pitches and generally around the site . Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that dogs were supposed to be exercised off site. We were pitched near the road at the far end of the new area and it seemed to us that everyone was walking their dogs to this area for their exercise . although I am sure they would have picked up their dogs mess , dogs were being allowed to urinate at every opportunity on the grassed sites , not very nice if you are the next caravan using that pitch with children wanting to play on the grass ! This is also a problem on other Club sites we have stayed on , so come Wardens exercise your authority and put a stop to this anti social problem .

Popular Site

We were a little worried on arrival as the fair and amusement park was manic. I do think that departures should be staggered as there were a lot leaving on or after 12oclock. However the site was excellent. Toilet blocks immaculate. We cycled all week, great ride to Formby (lovely town and fantastic beach) and Crosby. We did go back into Southport town and although very busy embraced it. Nice walk along the pier. For a family I think there is something for everyone. Would go back again.

We love it

Stayed here a few times and each time we really enjoy it.its so handy for everything you need for a seaside resort.the only downside this time was the park that's just outside the caravan park was closed right the way through the school holidays which is so stupid.other than that small moan we will be back.

Mixed thoughts

Stayed at Southport site for a few days last week, and I find myself agreeing with most of the previous reviews, good and bad. Yes the pitch we were on was noisy in the evening with boy racers on the nearby road, however it didn't keep us awake at night. The new part is a bit bare and would benefit from a few shrubs and hedges, but the roads were nice and wide and well lit. The shower blocks and grounds are well kept, but my better half tried to find a warden on two occasions with none to be found. Location is perfect for young families with a play park next door, park and ride a short drive away and the town centre and attractions within walking distance.  I have to agree though that it was worrying to see kids racing about on bikes with no concept of the dangers, even after dark. Good dog walking areas very close, all dogs on site were on lead and well controlled. Couldn't get logged on to wi fi at all, but perfect reception for TV using only standard caravan Ariel. TIP:- the nearby Morrisons car park charges for parking as it is also a public car park.  What is not clear is that the first 30mins is free, allowing time to nip in for a few groceries.  The car park company are a wee bit sneaky in not stating this on the pay machine, but it is on the notice terms on some lamposts. The directions to the site seem confusing but stick with it as they do work, although stating distances between turns would help, as some are a few yards apart and some several miles.  The new bypass under construction now, should make it a lot easier when completed. All in all mixed feelings not bad but not great.

1st visit August2015

Delightful site, with excellent facilities. showers were fantastic and site spotlessly clean. Wardens were seen all day cleaning and emptying bins etc., Great site for families. Was delighted to see childeren playing and having fun in a safe environment. The rabbits were the focal pount for many of them.Location could not have been better. We were apprehensive about coming to this site after reading some of the less positive reviews and could not disagree more with some of them. We had a fantastic two weeks at this site and will definately return again. Southport within easy walking distance, the parks were excellent, as was the weather. Wardens, expecially the gentleman who booked us in were very friendly. We were on the original part of the site, which was quiet and all pitches had plenty of room. Only criticism would be that the showers certainly on this part of the site closed at 10.15 for cleaning which was a little early. As on holiday was nice to relax for a little over breakfast before showering.

Good site but some concerns

We stayed on the new part of the site which is well laid out with large pitches. A little bare looking at the moment but this is to be expected as this is a new site.  We had good TV reception.  The shower and toilet block was of the usual high standard. We visited in August and there were children racing around on scooters and bikes until 9.45 pm.  This was quite dangerous for both pedestrians and vehicles moving on and off site.  Parents need to take control of their children and wardens need to enforce rules to ensure that a nasty accident doesn't happen in the future. We were there with our granddaughter and understand that children need to play but as stated on most caravan club sites parents need to ensure that their children are not running riot and being a danger to themselves and others. This did not however spoil our visit and we will return but probably not during school holidays.
