Southport club site

Always clean and tidy. Good for youngsters with park next door, fun fair 10 minute walk away, and good for cyclists. Friendly helpful staff.

Maybe a little noisy at night, but....

Reading other reviews, we were prepared to expect noise from traffic on the adjacent road - and we were not disappointed!  However, our experience of all sites that are so close to town amenities is the same and we think it is a small price to pay for the convenience of being able to walk everywhere (we are in a motorhome, so don't always have independent transport).  The site facilities are immaculate and it is located between the beach and a beautiful park.  Directly through the park is a good Chinese restaurant - we have a dog, so settled for the takeaway option, which was excellent.  All in all, a good site for those in a motorhome, those with dogs and families.

What a transformation!

Congratulations on a wonderful transformation to Southport Club Site. A much needed new extension to the site plus an excellent (and much needed) refurb to the old site makes a stay here a pleasure, rather than an endurance, as it was before, with tired facilities and (it seemed to me) de-moralised wardens. The site will always be fully used due to it's great position, with Victoria park next door, and the Splashworld pool, the newly built kids' playground, crazy golf, the beach, Morrisons supermarket, the excellent Fun Fare (for all ages!), and the town centre all within walking distance, or take the park-and-ride bus from the end of the lane. The wardens were all very friendly and did a great job of looking after things. Do visit, it's worth every penny!

Southport club site

Really enjoyed staying at this site. Ideal for Southport and surrounding area. Easy to walk into southport. As someone who likes to let the morning drift by, it was nice to see a club site that cleaned the shower/toilet blocks in the quiet period which is the afternoon allowing you to shower at a time that suits you in the morning. Unfortunately two negatives for me. One is the wifi, unless you are desperate don't bother paying for it as it is very slow. The other negative applies to other caravan club sites and not just this one. It quite clearly states in the site information that if you would like to stay behind 12pm ask a warden and they will try to accomadate it if possible. We fancied spending the Sunday afternoon in southport and asked if we could remain on our pitch if the site wasn't full. We were told that there was no chance of doing this. However looking at the site booking page online it clearly wasn't full so can not understand why we couldn't remain on our pitch for a few more hours. Generally the club really need to review the exit times on a Sunday as 12pm is really inconvenient for quite a lot of the members. It really needs to be moved to 4pm. We would return to the site again.

Lovely Site

We spent 5 days at this site, we were pitched on the new section, lovely pitches and clean facilities however we were not able to get any TV signal or wifi signal (which we purchased) but other than that it was wonderful, great walks for dogs, lovely friendly site we will definitely be returning for another visit, however we will be bringing our own entertainment :)

Great Site

Just back from a weeks holiday. Our first time in Southport and we will definitely be back. We had a non awning pitch in the old part of the site which was perfect and very roomy. Lovely well maintained site, the toilet/shower facilities were spotless. Lovely walk through the park to Morrisons and Southport. Southport town was lovely plenty of nice shops, bars and restaurants. Perfect place for cycling, loads of cycle routes.

Enjoyable stay

We recently spent a long weekend at this site and thoroughly enjoyed it, although we got a little confused when coming off the M58. Lots to do - walking, cycling, shopping, relaxing. The site facilities were excellent - showers spacious - very clean as always. We discovered Rotten Row which is behind the site - take the path towards the park but keep going ahead to the road gate, play area on left, and there is the most wonderful herbaceous border we have seen - the whole length of the road. We did try to have a paddle but the sea was too far out - does it ever come close to the pier?! We walked along the pier and had a lovely ice cream, there is a café too. We also took in a show at the theatre, just takes half an hour to walk there and also managed to have a game of pitch and putt. We will return to try out the cycle routes - there is so much to do!

great site

Visited site 20-26 July. As always had a great time.Beautiful clean site. Had problems with the jockey wheel and requested help from one of the wardens, who went out of his way to help us, fixed it up ready for our departure. The site is in a great location within walking distance to shops, funfair, restaurants and pubs. The only slight irritation was that there seemed to be a lot of motorbikes running up and down the roads between about 9 and 11 pm, other than that perfect.

Made it at Last

We tour up to Scotland once a year and at last have managed to include Southport this year, we were not disappointed.  We have a motorhome and tow a car on a trailer so having studied the layout for the site knew where we wanted to be, the new part of the site which as the name suggests is lacking trees and shrubs (only to be expected).  We were lucky to get a little protection from some trees between us and the sea as it was the end of May and the forecast was for extremely high winds.  We survived and had most of that area to ourselves.  Wifi in that area along with Satellite signals were very good - not sure what the problems were with the previous member, possibly too many on the site using wifi.  We heard very little traffic noise, but it was quite windy so possibly drowned any noise out!  The toilet blocks were extremely clean and the wardens very helpful and efficient.  The walk into town is level and a very easy, a very pretty Victorian town.  The path through to the town passes a children's play area and the Southport Model Railway Club that run trains on Sundays.  The only criticism I have of the site was at the arrival.  Being midday and busy it was a little disorganised.  We are used to the extremely efficient wardens at York - "driver stay in the van/car passenger books in" and all more forward very fast.  At Southport everyone stays in their car/van until they reach the barrier, then get out and book in - so everyone has to wait while they book in before getting back to their outfit and moving off. With every outfit going through this procedure (most times both driver and passenger went into the office) it seemed to take forever!  The queue went a long way down the road.  Don't let this put you off, it's a great site and lovely town.

Caravan Position

My concern is that when on arrival you are informed to pitch as shown on drawing and then while walking through the site it becomes apparent that is not adhered to. It was only last year that I was next to an obnoxious person who pitched incorrectly and after I tried to give him friendly advice and eventually the wardens informed he was pitched in wrong position he switched my electric of when leaving site. obviously I no longer give advice
