First time visit

The standards being set by the Wardens throughout the site is amazingly high. The cleanliness of the sanitation block is exceptional. The only downside is the lack of nearby catering facilities, and that is not the Clubs' fault, just me being picky.

Few days away

We expected better from reading reviews.Old area tatty trees bushes etc.new area cramped and exposed.seemed to have purchased a lot of planks of wood !! Water at sinks could be hotter.some lights went out while Hubby shaving in cubicle.Annoying you can't use park and ride even if you want to pay.Not worth a return visit.

Brilliant site

Just returned from a three night stay at this fantastic site. The extended area is spacious with large pitches and a new shower block which is not closed for cleaning until 2.30pm which gives ample time to use it. The site is conveniently placed to walk into Southport and if you take the exit from the site from the footpath that leads to Rotten Row you will find a very pleasant walk along a flower lined road. The cycling is excellent and the recommended route from the site is a superb 22 mile ride through pleasant countryside on safe tracks with sections on quiet roads so bring your bikes! Friendly helpful wardens and the usual Caravan Club standards. Great site,we shall certainly be back.

Air Show and Fireworks Weekends

Had two great breaks at Southport this year. The location is just fantastic ; we took our bikes for the second weekend. There are so many rides from right outside the gate. All the leaflets are in the Information Centre. I must commend the wardens this year. The Air Show and Firework weekends must be two of the busiest times for them and I'm sure they must get a lot of hassle; but we found them always chatty and friendly. Thank you so much for all the hard work you do to make our breaks so stress free and memorable.

Super Southport

Finally managed to get a full week at Southport and it was worth the wait. Great location an easy stroll into Southport with all it's attractions. A day out in Liverpool is a must and with trains every 15 mins it's easy to do. I saw complaints in the visitors book about poor TV reception but I had no problems ( I did see outfits with their aerials pointing out to sea ?). We arrived after 12 o'clock and were the 12th outfit in the queue ! During our week's stay we regularly saw people start to arive from 11 o' clock on so come on fellow members give the Warden's a break and do what it says in the handbook

Southport

It was the first time visiting Southport site. The site was very clean and the facilities. Its good for walking into Southport, but just out side the site you can get on the park and ride to other places. The staff were pleasant at all times. We will be returning to the site again.

WE went for two nights, the site was very nice and tidy and the toilets were very warm and very clean. The site was easy to get into town and the sea front. we will be going back to this site if it is for odd days or for a week

Quiet - other than help-desk calls

We had been trying to get away in our motorhome all year, and with the season fast slipping away, we managed 4 nights at Southport. Ahhh. What a lovely site. Convenient for all of Southport's attractions as well as a beautiful nature reserve just across the road, a Victorian park adjascent to the new section and an ice cream van on the prom. The wardens were cheerful, the facilities were spotless, the sun was shining. What more could we need? Well, the one thing we'd booked this site specifically for, which was the supposedly recently-upgraded wifi which we both needed to stay in contact with work, a condition of our break. "The install should give an average line speed increased from 4.9 Mbps to 49.7 Mbps with the lowest expected to be 10 Mbps and the highest 80Mbps" the wifi update on the CC site says. Well, it was totally miserable, crawled along in slo-mo, dropped out often and only worked at all after daily calls to the warden's tech helpdesk. It reliably clicked off at around 6.45pm for at least 90 minutes, and again late at night and again in the morning. It was difficult enough to get away for 4 nights, but being able to stay connected was part of the deal! With no connection, the stress level was higher than it needed to have been. I do hope the CC don't consider their internet problem "fixed" yet. Families with young children should ensure they still bring DVDs for wet days as streaming is impossible; parents who need to stay in touch with work should perhaps find alternative destinations with proper connections. We will definitely be coming to Southport again; we just won't expect any wifi.
