February break 2016

Just arrived today and a warm welcome from the wardens. Lots of improvement since our last visit 2014. The new part of the site was closed but that did not bother us as we parked on a pitch on the long strip which was very quiet. Looking forward to exploring Southport tomorrow.

Another Return Visit in 2016, Valentine weekend

This time we pitched at the narrow end of the site and were allocated a pitch by the Warden. Normally, we visit and choose a pitch on the flood plain side of the site but this was closed for the winter. We have a motorhome just over 6m and were asked to pitch sideways on to the road, not having done this before we wondered how we would feel being so close to the road and wall. However, we stayed for 5 nights and had an extremely pleasent time, the sun shone all the time, the weather was fantastic. Being on this side of the site was very different, to our surprise we found it to be very quiet, no road noise at all. Not sure about the closeness of people in the busy season, but the pitch we had was lovely with large expanse of grass either end of the vehicle and room for an awning if needed. We might even choose this next time we visit. Of no particular importance to us but just a thought, we noted that the site is open all year, yet the faciliities of the small shop and selling basics all year round was not available as there was nothing in stock. There is a Morrisons nearby, but if basics are needed due to illness for example, it could be very difficult for some folk. The Wardens are still helpful and keeping the site immaculate of course. Even at this time of year there is plenty to see and do in Southport and as a weekend or longer destination, its very hard to beat. Hope to be visiting again very soon.

Great Winter Break Site

Family of 4 - 2 adults & 2 children aged 14 & 6 - 3 night February half term break. Welcome by wardens was very warm. Toilet/Shower block excellently maintained as was the site itself. Location central for the park, pier, town, fair, beach, supermarket & eating places. Whilst in a great location, this site felt more insecure than other CC sites due to public right of way through the site into the neighbouring park. This site was fabulous for an out of season break but personally we would probably only return out of peak season because we envisage how busy it would get and was concerned about the discarded gas cannisters used & left on the approach road to the site we noticed whilst out walking. Evidence maybe that this road is used by locals as a gathering place for unsavoury activity?

Excellent last minute winter break

A last minute get away as sun was forecast! Lovely site, immaculately clean, well laid out and very helpful and friendly wardens. Having never been to Southport and on the recommendation of Stuart Maconie, I decided to visit. I was more than pleasantly surprised. Great town, easy walk in from the site, the Egypt collection in the Atkinson museum was a great surprise. Tap and Bottles little real ale shop and bar in Cambridge Walks is fab as it the retro shop (any amount of Bakelite telephones!) Will be back!

Fabulous

This site is so well situated and has everything for everyone young and old. Have never used such an immaculately clean toilet block. Highly recommended,  will definitely return.

Brill site

Stopped for just one night. Wardens were super helpful after our fridge kept tripping off the electricity. Quiet close enough to town which has some great shops. Bang on the sea front and a great path to go for a nice walk or in my case run. Will definitely be back to explore southport more.
