We stayed for 4 nights in October. The site is immaculately kept and the wardens were extremely polite and helpful whilst we were there. They had done a great job of decorating the site for Halloween, it was amazing.
The toilet blocks are very clean and warm. They obviously take pride in keeping them really good for guests.
The site is close to town and shops. There are also some lovely restaurants and cafes in southport. It is also easy to get the train really cheaply into Liverpool for a day out. It only cost £10 return for 2.
This really is a lovely site with loads to do just on the doorstep. The town of southport was friendly, clean and plenty to do for all ages. Well worth staying on this site and we won't hesitate to return in the spring.
i would like to commend the wardens at southport club site they put a lot of time and effort into all the decorations around the site my son loved the graveyard at the back of the new shower block. Also what a great idea about putting a balloon up if you did not mind trick or treaters calling at your caravan
Like this site been several times. However first visit since it has been extended. On arrival we stated we would go in the new part , spent an hour pitching, setting up etc but when we went to tell them pitch number were told we couldn't stay on that pitch due to it being booked the day after ( an awning pitch). We were made to move, extremely annoying as we were only there for two nights so wasted valuable time setting up twice. At no point on arrival werecwe told where we could or could not pitch. The original pitch we had to vacate did get another caravan with an awning the next day but there were others that became vacant !!! Apparently we had to move because they did not know how to change it on the computer. Fuming doesn't come close !!!!
We have just returned from 2 nights at southport cc site and we will be returning again very soon, we stayed on pitch 80, out of the way as we have 2 dogs and this was there first time in a motor home but we didn't need to worry, there were plenty of dog walking areas around, especially the dunes across the road and the lovelly park next door with access through the site.
We had a fantastic view of the ferris wheel at the fair ground just up the road, the light show was fantastic.
I can highly recommend this site, the staff are pleasant and the site is very clean... toilet blocks are superb. Southport centre is within easy walking distance with shops and cafes and the pier, marine lake is also worth a visit.
Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did :).
This was our first visit to Southport, but based on our experience, it will not be our last. It was ideally placed for walking into the town. There were ample cycle paths for casual cycling around the surrounding area. There were restaurants and cafes in abundance in Southport. I particularly liked the fact that the toilet block, closest to our caravan, closed for cleaning in the afternoon. This seemed to be a sensible time for cleaning, in my opinion, as it allows the later risers, like myself, the option of not having to make a desperate dash to use the shower facilities around mid morning, as is the usual time we have experienced, on most club sites. We found no problem with noise from the road from our pitch ( number 9) but realise that might be problematic if you're pitched in the large open area at the bottom of the site. Overall we were very impressed with this site. But yet again, the one major problem, which I think the CC should do more to address, is the lack of consideration shown by those motorists who fail to adhere to the 5mph limit set when driving around the sites.
Very clean, well run site with nice shops in Birkdale - an easy walk from the site. The big problem we encountered was noise as the site is effectively located on a huge traffic island and we endured several nights of broken sleep. We had a nighttime soundtrack (at 2 and 3 am when we were there) of noisy motorbikes using the promenade as a racetrack supported by revving cars with boombox stereos. During the day, the peace was spoiled by the drone of the warden's tractor and a grass cutter mowing constantly around the site (almost four hours throughout the afternoon of the sunniest day we had there). And then there's the regular drone of planes flying around from the local airfield. We will not be visiting this site again.
Not a bad site to stay for visiting Southport it's close enough to be able to walk into the centre. We stayed in our camper van so we need a site with good toilet & shower facilities, which this site has but unfortunately the morning we were due to leave the toilet block was closed for cleaning 10.15 until 12, there was a service toilet available but no chance of being able to have a shower! other sites we have been to manage to clean without the need to close off the toilet block altogether, don't see why this site should be any different. We paid for the use of the facilities which we never got to use.
After touring the uk for the last 8 weeks stopped at Southport on the way home, this site is still one of the best for locations and is kept in a lovely condition. One of the previous reviews complained about traffic noise but we did not hear any.Sadly the warm and friendly WARDENS must have been on holiday !!! Because the ones that we met were not friendly.
Great site. Well run and maintained by the hard working wardens, who I find to be extremely friendly and helpful.
Location means there is something for everybody.
Only downside was the late Saturday night boy racers on the coast road (absolutely nothing to do with the caravan club) and is just one of those modern day things.
As a frequent visitor this is one of our favourite places. So thank you wardens for help in making it so.
