Great site

Lovely site, always clean and tidy. We arrived in the dark Friday, wardens were friendly, found a great pitch on the new bit and within 25mins all sorted, lovely walk in to Southport and Morrison's also near by. We will be back again

Another Tranquil Weekend

Leaving Oldham in the snow, was not what I had expected, but determined the weather was not going to spoil our weekend, two miles down the road clear blue skies and not a sign of a snowflake, arriving at Southport C.C with the usual warming welcome from the wardens, and our pitch sorted, setting up in the bitter cold was done in record time, a drop of well earned scotch soon had the bones glowing again. The weather over the weekend was mixed sun, rain, wind and hail, but did not stop us from taking our two Labradoodles for good walks over the sand dunes and beach. We did not venture into Southport on this occasion, enjoying the warmth, few drinks, good meal supplied courtesy of Morrision's which is only a few minutes down the road, all in all a splendid relaxing weekend with other like minded caravaners. See you again over the new year festivities, keep up the good work.

Tidy and well placed site

We only come to the Southport site in the winter months. In these months the generous hard standing pitches, the warm facilities, hot showers and the tarmac roads and the proximity to Southport come in to their own.

Another enjoyable weekend at Southport Club Site

We trundled out of Oldham in heavy snow not knowing what we would encounter, the caravan pushing my 4X4 forward on the icy roads, a couple of miles further we had clear blue skies, not a sign of snow, arrived at Southport C.C usual nice to see you welcome from the wardens, even got the same pitch as my three previous visits, the sun was shining but extremely cold, once finished setting up a nice warming glass of scotch did the trick. With having two Labradoodles the sand dunes and beach are ideal for dog walks and owners alike. Only a short stroll into Southport, however we did not venture out relaxed in the caravan with games, meals supplied by nearby Morrison's, a few drinks and games, curled up in the warmth, a very enjoyable weekend, looking forward to our stay over the new year festivities.

An enjoyable stay

Peace and Quiet 4/5 - There is some noise from the road adjacent to the "new" part at the southern end of the site. This part is rather open as no trees or screens seemed to have been incorporated into the design. It will also be windy as there's not much between it and the sea. The North end of the site can sometimes attract a bit of noise from motor vehicles. On the whole though it was very peaceful for us. Facs & Cleanliness 4/5 - Full marks on cleanliness. Very hard working wardens who kept the place up to snuff. Face only reduced slightly as we found the CC website poor, but were able to use our own Mifi without problems. Don't know about tv reception as we don't bother with one. Nice to see the new showers have been built with a bit more room in them and with a fixed bench. No more wet shower curtain stuck your bum! Only gripe is with a near 2 hour closure for cleaning, although they do alternate the 2 blocks, one in the morning and t'other in afternoon so there will always be one open. Good for families 4/5 - No play area on site! At all! However all is not lost as the council run Victoria Park is adjacent to the site and accessed via 2 walkways from the site into it. There is a children's play area which can be viewed from some pitches, plus there is bags of room for dog walking and football playing etc. Location is perfect for those wanting to walk into Southport, being a mere 10 minutes across the park or along Rotten Row, accessed through one of the walkways to the park. There's the usual leisure facilities associated with a seaside town plus plenty of good eating places and Morrisons supermarket is a mere 5 minutes away on the edge of the park. The RSPB have a reserve 3 miles along the coast towards Preston and Martinmere Wildfowl Trust is 15 minutes in the car. Plenty of historic places to see and if you need a city hit then catch the train from the centre of Southport to Liverpool for the day. Golfers will be in paradise as will walkers with miles and miles of sandy beaches and dunes to explore. Southport did show signs of decline a few years ago but this visit showed that it is trying very hard to stop this decline and in some instances is doing so. All in all, an enjoyable stay, with friendly wardens as well.

Not quite there.

Have come here several times in the past staying on the original side which although a little cramped was OK.   Location excellent for Southport, able to leave your car and walk. Main gripe, the old part of the site was always poor for tv reception mainly due to the trees (understandable ). So when they built the new half of the site I thought they might have invested in ariel points as the TV reception for normal van systems is utter garbish even though its more open.  You need a booster of some type.  ( I can't blame the van this time as it's brand new ) Would be nice to see the club invest in these ariel points in keeping with other popular sites,  along with some trees or some type of shelter as the new side is very open and windy.  Plus side,  shower facilities are excellent, staff friendly. Thanks, Dave & Tracy . November 2016

Delightful

We enjoyed two weeks at the site in Oct. The site was always spotless as was the shower blocks. And there the problem was - to keep it that way they had to use leaf blowers and vacuum tractors to clear up the dropped leaves - and they were noisy. So if you want a quiet time don't go in October. Overall we can still recommend the site as it is great site with good hard working wardens.

Well worth a visit

Lovely site will be going back very soon. The staff are really nice and helpful,it was nice being told have a drive round and pick your own pitch. The toilets and showers were amazing SPOTLESS the cleanest we have ever seen on any site we have been.So well done to all the staff. A lovely walk into Southport about 20 min but at our age (pensioners) that wasn't bad, walking back not so good, no lights along the road to the site entrance, take a torch. the site itself is well lit and very quiet. LOVED IT

Enjoyable trip to Southport Club Site

We enjoyed our 5 night stay, friendly wardens, toilet block always very clean, it's good that with two blocks closing at different times there is always one open. Easy walk into Southport, lots of good shopping area's. Firework display in Victoria Park was amazing. Look forward to returning in the future.
