It was easy to book this site include the ferry crossing using the club. The two wardens we saw the most, Nic & Debbie were really friendly and helpful and worked very hard with their colleagues to keep the site looking very tidy and clean. There's plenty to do and see on the IOW - watch out for some poor drivers on the small roads though. Do follow the directions on the club site rather than a satnav as the most direct routes will likely see you get stuck. Our pitch was very level, well maintained and a good size. We did however feel very close to the people opposite - there was just enough room to drive a car through the gap between us (N.b this seemed to only be the case in the particular part of the site we pitched in). The site drained very well after torrential rain and was generally peaceful. There were plenty of water/waste points which were very regularly cleaned. The Covid measures were very simple and easy to understand - it was just a pity that a minority of people during our 2 week stay didn't seem willing/capable of following the rules and thinking of others.
2nd visit this year
2nd visit this year as the Isle of Wight is gorgeous and wanted to explore it more. Nick and Debbie really friendly and do a wonderful job keeping the site clean and tidy. Well located.
Summer Break 2021
Have just returned from another stay at Southlands. This is our eleventh year and again we were so impressed by the hardworking and friendly wardens. We always recommend Southlands to our caravanning friends , from the beautifully kept gardens and trees to the spotless showers and toilets. The site is a gem.
Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Very pleasant site.
This a very pleasant site, friendly and helpful warden team.
I was concerned that to assist with social distancing clients are being asked to limit the use of the shower and toilet block but the Club has introduce tent camping and safari tents onto the site and these users have no onboard faculties which puts additional pressure/users on to the Covid reduced faculties' !

Good clean site
This is a site review only and no reflection of IoW! The site has excellent wardens who keep the grass and hedges very well maintained and very clean facilities. Has good selection of mostly grass pitches, many with hedges or trees and unless you are fussy do not need levelling blocks. The new part of the site is usual club formula layout of pitches. Reasonably convenient for most tourist hot spots, must follow site directions (ignore at your peril). Would we return? Unlikely, it is too club formula and like many club sites lacking character.
Excellent site.clean. pitches plenty of room.
Best site for having Wardens that were so friendly, cheerful and helpful on this well managed site
BEST SITE WE HAVE STAYED ON SINCE JOINING THE CLUB
We have just come home from a 15 night stay at Southland Site, its our 3rd visit to the site although we have been coming to the IOW for over 30 years and I feel it is one of the best if not THE best site on the island. It is friendly, clean well run by very organised friendly wardens. They are always there to help where necessary but not interfering in your enjoyment of this lovely island. They keep the site looking beautiful but always have time to talk to you and recommend any places that may be of interest to you when asking for help. I will definitely come back to this site either later in the year or next June.

Great place to stay for all the family including dogs
Just had 7days at this site using it for the first time although have visited I of W 3times previously.
Had a great grass pitch in a quiet corner with plenty of space. Very helpful wardens although this was their first season. Very impressed with the high maintenance all round the site but especially with the hedge trimming. Three nights a week a couple of cheerful young ladies arrived with a converted caravan which when they dropped the front of the enlarged side window hey presto a mobile bar called appropriately " The Thirsty Camper". Only downside to the site was there was nowhere outside the site gate to just enjoy a short evening stroll as no footpath and narrow roads.
Great play area with views and a very good dog walk.
Wonderful site
Probably the cleanest and best site we have stayed at,great pitches and spacing, superb facilities, real credit to all staff, thank you.
Never fails to impress
I have stayed on this site several times and have never been disappointed. The four wardens here never stop working and take such pride in looking after the site. I think this is probably the best kept site on the network. Almost all the caravan club sites are beautifully kept, which is why we use them, this one is a bit special though. The only tiny thing I missed was that there was not any hand sanitiser by the dog bin outside the dog walk which most sites seem to have, but that is being very nit picky on my part!! Go, stay there and enjoy!!!!!
