PERFECT STAY

We stayed here for 6 nights on a grass pitch with generous space and high hedges which were great for privacy. However, it was very hot and some people had their windows wide open with televisions on loud - a tad annoying if you're enjoying the evening sitting outside. The site is kept immaculate and the wardens are commended for their hard work. We explored the island by bus and we found them to be very reliable. The bus stop is about a 15 min walk from the site. Osborne House is a really good day out. We walked down to the beach and swam, so take your costumes - you can change in the toilets. Recommended places close to the site - we loved Pedallers cafe and also recommend a visit to Ager Farm Nursery (right out of site and then first right) with wonderful pots, hanging baskets and plants. Really friendly people.

.......so far so good!

Mid way through a fortnight stay at Southlands CAMC site. I prefer to use club sites to CL’s etc., our choice I know, and am prepared to pay for it. All the sites are different but are also very similar in many respects. I have to say the staff team at Southlands never seem to stop and the site reflects this!! I’m not normally one for posting reviews but their constant hard work needs appreciation as far as I’m concerned. When we pitched for a fortnight we were taking our dog for a decent walk prior to the awning erection, as I passed a staff member I asked if they had mower out could they cut our grass (that wasn’t really long) when we came out of the loo the grass cutting was underway, all with a smile too! On a wider point, the site is generally a drive away to places but take the positives out of that in that it’s well positioned and not far from many places. We like grass pitching but the hard standing areas are spacious and look nice too. Thank you to the Southlands staff team for all you do!

Absolutely beautiful site.

This was our first visit to this site. We were so impressed with how friendly and hard working the wardens were! Every single one, took the time to say hello, they work incredibly hard all day. The site is spotlessly clean, generous size pitches, especially the hard standing pitches. There is a lovely dog walk, around the site, were the dogs can walk off lead, amazing views over the island. We are definitely coming back next June2022, if not beforehand. Well done to the wardens and the club with this fantastic site x

Well kept site

3rd time at this site, always impressed at the way it is run and maintained. Lovely pitches and clean and modern toilet blocks. Well positioned for travelling to attractions. Two negative comments which are down to people and not the site, people not following the COVID restricted numbers into the toilet blocks and also the amount of unsupervised barking dogs.

Great site

This is in a ideal location for seeing IOW. It was clean and tidy, wardens worked constantly to keep it that way. There is a pub in walking distance The Pointer (booking recommended) there is a short cut from the back of the site ask the wardens. The Garlic farm is not far away and worth a visit. TV reception and wifi was good. Would definatley stay here again.

Superb site especially the grass pitches

This site is excellent, especially if you opt for the grass pitches which are kept in immaculate condition and are very level and well drained. Best of all they are reasonably private with enormous hedges providing shelter and an attractive appearance. I took the opportunity to inspect the hardstanding pitches while I was there and felt these to be less attractive. There is nothing particularly wrong with them but they did not benefit from the superb hedges and privacy of the grass pitches. The deal where you get the ferry crossing included makes this a very reasonably priced site and the longer you stay the better value it is! There is a lot to do in the area with an excellent cycle route on the Red Squirrel Trail on the site of the former railway line, which goes to nearby Sandown and Shanklin and also has a branch up to Newport and Cowes. Another outstanding local attraction is the Garlic Farm to which entry is free. This has it all with a lovely walk, a superb cafe and a shop, selling just about anything and everything to do with garlic. The car park even has a free EV charging point! The site facilities are very good although there isn't much of a shop. Newchurch hasn't got one either, but there is an excellent pub The Pointer Inn. Although Newchurch is very close it is not a pleasant walk there, as the road is quite busy and has no pavements for much of it length. I'd also add that the staff on the site is extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely be returning!

Wonderful stay for our family of 6

Our first booking of the season post covid restrictions. What a wonderful site. Kept in brilliant condition. All the staff were so helpful. Every pitch is set in its own section, beautifully sectioned by high hedges. The playground was brilliant for my 3 kids. Probably the best one we have found on a site. The dog walk is quite short but great that you can let dog off lead. So close to all the attractions but far enough away that it feels quiet. We found a lovely forest half a mile away that was great to walk our dogs. I can’t recommend this site enough. Well done guys.

Brilliant

It was a real joy to stay at this site for the second time. It is very clear to see that the wardens take a great deal of pride in keeping this site tip top. We stayed at the end of October until early November (when it closed), and was amazed to see everything looking so clean and well cared for at this time of year. We had a serviced pitch, but all the pitches seemed large. The WiFi worked extremely well. All the wardens were extremely friendly and helpful, and deserve a big pat on the back. We will be back!

Good clean site

Very well run site run by a lovely very helpful couple who even gave us some of their milk when we had run out and did n't want payment.Toilet block was kept very clean and site was quiet partly as some pitches were being renovated.Excellent food at the Pointer Inn but need to book. Very impressed especially as we stayed at a more expensive site on the island where the shower and toilet block leaves a lot to be desired.

Super site on the Isle of Wight.

This is a lovely site which is beautifully maintained. Having read some negative reviews I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was very quiet and peaceful. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a nice dog walking area where you can let your dog off the lead and 2 dog areas for a doggie toilet stop. We had no problems with access to the toilet block. When I used the facilities, there was never anyone else there. The whole thing felt very Covid safe. It is less than 10 minutes walk to The Pointer Inn which does very good food. You will have to book as it tends to get quite busy. The site is well situated for exploring this very lovely Island. We really enjoyed our visit to Osborne House and the drive from Ventnor to Freshwater is stunning. Thank you Southland for a lovely stay, we will be back.
