Lovely bank holiday stay

A lovely little site with beautiful views. Nice pitches and very well set out. The wardens are very friendly and helpful, and the little shop is good if you've forgotten any basics! We didn't use the wash rooms but if they are anything like other Caravan Club sites they will be great.

BSB at Thruxton

We stayed here due to the sites proximity to Thruxton and it was perfect. Slightly limited for our toddler but no major issue as we were at the circuit most of Friday and Saturday. We will be back this year again

A little gem indeed.

David and Paula who run this site are lovely and gave us a very warm welcome. We only stayed a couple of nights and found the site to be quiet, friendly and extremely clean and well looked after. The pitches are a very good size. The little shop has basic essentials, which was great for the few things we forgot to pack. Lovely dog walk too. The location is good for several places to visit nearby. All in all a very relaxing weekend.

The three S's, Stonehenge, Sarum and Salisbury.

This was our first visit to this site and we were not disappointed. Ii is somewhat hilly and we chose a beautiful site half way down the site that caught the sun most of the day.....wonderful. Quiet, tranquil and some lovely views from the pitches towards the bottom of the site. Facilities were immaculately clean and very adequate, albeit at the top of the site. It goes without saying that the pitches at the top of the site are the most popular.....I wonder why? Wardens as usual were helpful, informative and always smiling. There was a "used" bin of odds and ends that tempted a look through and you never know a treasure can sometimes be found. Some of our crockery was sourced this way at the new Strathclyde site near Glasgow. The small shop on site is stocked with essentials to save a trip into Salisbury. Close to Salisbury Old Sarum and Stonehenge will keep you busy for at least three days and trips further afield will give you Salisbury Plain, Avebury, Woodhenge etc etc so plenty to do. It's a pity that it's not open all year but access around site in icy conditions could be a problem. We would certainly visit again and hopefully get the same pitch.

What a little Gem

What a little gem this site is, we hadn’t visited before. But we decided to do a 1 night short trip away. We were welcomed warmly be the extremely helpful wardens on site. The pitch we picked was pretty level although some others needed levelling chocks. But this was not a problem for us. We had a fantastic stay and my son loved exploring through the woodland and taking us on a lengthy dog walk in the immediate countryside. There was no noise at all at night and it was a extremely peaceful escape. The little shop on site was well stocked with the essentials and all at reasonable prices (especially as it was the last week the site is open). The toilets were immaculately clean and tidy. The only downside I could see would be that the pitches at the bottom of the park are quite a trek from the main toilet block. But again for us this was a minor thing. We would certainly be returning to this site again.

Second Time Around

We visited Salisbury Hillside in June 14 which was our inaugural caravan trip.  We enjoyed it then for it's tiered site layout as don't like it where the caravans are all in a row and somewhat regimented. Our return visit in September 15 was just as enjoyable.  The wardens very helpful and friendly, some basic items in the shop, lots of information in the little hut, immaculately clean showers and toilets and well kept grounds.  This time we chose a different pitch which was 1 of 3 in Chalk Down.  It was virtually level, which was great for us as some of them are partly sloping, so set up time was very quick.  We did not not bother with our awning as the weather forecast was good, but there was plenty of space had we wished to do so.  Because the various pitching areas are divided by trees, you do need to think where you want to set up if you're someone who wants to benefit from the sun all day.  if that was the case, then you would be better off pitching on The Green which is more open, but there you have more caravans all lined up so less privacy.  We personally prefer to have only a few visible to us.   It was an easy drive along the A343 to either Andover or Salisbury.  We visited the Andover Garden Centre and adjacent shops which was enjoyable, Danebury Hillfort for some lovely walking and views and ventured into Salisbury for a walk across the water meadows to the Old Mill and back which was lovely.   We would thoroughly recommend Salisbury Hillside to most people.  There aren't any facilities for children such as playgrounds, so it would depend on what you and your children like to do. Certainly, there is some lovely outside space around which everyone can enjoy.  We very much like it for it's location being not too far for us from home and the accessibility to towns if we wish, or as we like to do mostly, just chill out with a glass of wine and a good book to hand in relative peace and quiet.  There is a little road noise you can hear in the distance but not overly intrusive and depends on the weather and which way the wind is blowing as we didn't notice it at all last time. Sadly, the site is not open all year and closes from the 5 October.  We will definitely plan to go back again in 2016.

A good stop over

We stayed here in late September, The wardens were very helpful and friendly. the reception was well stocked, which helps when you are a little way from any shops. the top half of the site is the best area to stay unless you like being in trees and semi- darkness, which is what the bottom half of the site is. we spent four nights here and had a nice break, Salisbury is 9 miles away and Andover is the same distance. both places worth a visit. Stonehenge is also not too far away, but the place we liked the best was the standing stone circle at Avebury, well worth a visit.

Happy

We stayed here for 6 days, on hindsite was proberly to many. This has got nothing to do with the site, which was very peaceful and facilities very clean. The Wardens were very freindly and helpful. Because we were in a Motorhome we used the local bus service for transport, which was very promt and reliable, but did take a long time to get to Salisbury which you had to go to for any connections we did get to Bournemouth (2Hrs) later but very interesting journey. Would go again but for fewer days. There is no bus service on Sundays. Which did give us a chance to relax. Once again Wardens very nice.
